These were the optional extras back in 2012 (we'll see if they stay put this airing or if any will change): Hour #1: "Basketball Jones" - Cheech & Chong Featuring Tyrone Shoelaces (#41) Hour #2: "Nutbush City Limits" - Ike & Tina Turner (#61) Hour #3: "Paper Roses" - Marie Osmond (#72) "Basketball Jones" is out. And one of pb's predictions -- Billy Preston's "Space Race" -- is in.

As we head into the final 3 months of 2019, what surveys from 1970-1971-1972 have the best chances of getting the mono2stereo conversion from Ken Martin? October: 1970 has 10/17 and 10/24 not converted, but 1970 already had a show in August and September, so highly unlikely we get another in Oct. 1971 has all October shows converted already. 9/25 has not been converted, but they just had 8/21 played, so this is unlikely. 1972 has 10/14 as only show not converted, this looks like good possibility. I give it 80% chance. November: 1970 has 11/14 and 11/28 not converted. 11/14 unlikely, too soon and 11/28 a slightly better chance, maybe 20% 1971 has 11/27. This show has best chance of being converted of remaining unconverted 1971 shows for 2019. 1972 has 11/11 as only unconverted show. If 10/14/72 is not played, 11/11 will be 100%. December: 1970 has 12/12 as only unconverted show. This show has best chance of remaining 1970 shows this year. 1971 has 12/4 as only unconverted show. They are not going to go "back to back" with 1970 and 1971, so this show only has a shot if 12/12/70 will not played. 1972 has 12/16 as only unconverted show. 10/14 or 11/11 should be played, 12/16 has to wait till another year. In December I will update the remaining mono shows from all months waiting for the mono2stereo conversion from Ken. Super Job Ken! The only thing I can clarify are upcoming shows. And all I'll say here is if waterboy's October projections are soaking wet (sorry for the pun), predictions for November and December might be a little off too. One other tidbit -- only one 1971 program is left for us in 2019.

Since Pete's post means we will only have gotten two '71 shows in the last six months of 2019.

I'm guessing we'll hear an October 1971 show ... we always seem to get October 1971 every year.
Prediction of which show it will be: Not sure which specific show it is, but I seem to recall that a stretch story for country singer Freddie Hart, for his song "Easy Loving" included a tidbit about him being part of the D-Day surge 75 years ago this year.
If it is an October 1971 show, whichever week it is, that'll leave a November 1971 show for 2020.
And then I'll concur with Matt that the year-end show will be 1971.

OK, the mono2stereo thing.
Before I entered the picture in 2013 with Premiere, I believe that Shannon Lynn ATTEMPTED to replace mono copies of the songs with stereo versions but found it too time intensive and only did it for songs that had technical flaws (i.e. drop outs). Those are the only times Shannon tried to replace audio in the mono shows and he's told me there wasn't a lot of songs that he replaced.
I started doing the mono2stereo conversion for my station WTOJ in 2012. That means stereo versions of the early shows ran exclusively in Watertown, NY that have not aired nationally.
In 2013 I was asked by Toby Petty to fix a segment of a show from the week of 7/27/74. The master tape for that show had been damaged pretty severely and the first few minutes were really bad. Toby Petty asked me to fix that audio and that's when things started to take off.
I've gone back through my old emails and it looks like the first mono2stereo show I officially provided to Premiere was 9/4/71 in 2013. While that was the first show I gave Premiere, since I was working ahead, I also offered the mono2stereo version I had done for 8/22/70. Backwards, I know, but it was getting close to the air date for the August show and I didn't know if Premiere could swap out that audio in time for the airing.
I've been doing it ever since.

The 2013 airing of the 8/22/70 show has many songs in stereo already, according to one of my old posts: For the 8/22/1970 show, is it the first time Premiere replaced so many songs with stereo version? In the past Premiere has replaced a few songs with stereo version for shows that were originally in mono. But I can't recall Premiere replaced so many. So, it looks like they used your copy in time for the airing.

That should have been a mono2stereo conversion by Ken. Can somebody check their file and verify if it was converted to stereo? Thank You!

I do remember there was one week where Premiere didn't use the stereo version and played the original mono version by mistake. I don't recall what week that might have been.

Prediction for next week's show:9/24/77

Prediction for next week's show:9/24/77 I'd say that is unlikely because that was played just two years ago by itself, but for the fact that there aren't a lot of options so they just might bend the rules a bit. Other shows that would fit that were A's or standalones in the last two years are 9/23/72, 9/28/74, and 9/27/75. Which leaves: 9/26/70 (too soon for more 1970?) 9/25/71 (maybe, but Pete B says only one more 1971 left this year, so they'd have to totally skip Oct-Dec) 9/25/76 (no; just had 1976 last week) 9/23 or 9/30/78 9/22/79 (possible, but would have made more sense this coming weekend with 9/29/73 next week)

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 9/30/78 2nd Guess - 9/22/79
It's looking more and more like it should be one of these two years for next week. I was originally guessing 10/7/78, but I'll guess '78 goes next week. Might we get 1978 and '79 in consecutive weeks?

9/30/78 was the final three hour show.

I was originally guessing 10/7/78, but I'll guess '78 goes next week. Might we get 1978 and '79 in consecutive weeks? Looks like it, as Pete posted in the 80s thread that "your first guess for the 70s completes the pair for next weekend". And he said that the first weekend of October will feature four shows, three of which will be four hours, so I take that to mean 10/6/79 plus a three hour B. For the following week (October 12-13) I think 10/14/72 would be a good choice: a show that hasn't been played since 2008 from a year that won't have been played in three months by then. 1978 next week does leave room for the so-far unplayed 11/11/78 countdown in November.
