A lot of the stations in the I-Heart Radio network air wall to wall Christmas songs prior to Thanksgiving-Fortunately,that won't be the case with WQSR.

Prediction for next week's show: 1st Guess - 9/15/79 2nd Guess - 9/16/72 You're one year and six days off on your second guess. And that stands alone.

the unaired November, 1976 show stands a good chance of being played in another two months! Yes, that will be the last weekly show from 1976 for 2019. And 'tis the season (almost), it will be paired with this year's first Christmas program. I assume the Christmas program begins on the Nov 9/10 weekend. Is that correct? If so, I think we won't be getting the other unaired show 11/11/78 this year.

Between specials, guest hosted shows, and shows aired in the last couple of years, we probably won't get 1972 or 1979 until October, by which time it'll have been about three months since either year was an A. Unless, that is, we get 9/22/79 the last weekend in September, but if they were going to do that then the 21st/22nd would likely have been the time.
And taking all that into account as well as years featured in the last few weeks, the last show of the month is probably either 9/25/71 (with a B) or 9/30/78. Since we haven't had a 1978 A since June, longer than any other year, it looks like a decent bet. In fact, they've really short-shrifted 1978 this year, with A's only in February, March, and June so far. Maybe the main year end show will be from 1978, which it hasn't been since 2007?

So right now, it's looking more and more like 10/7/78 could be the next 1978 show (9/23/78 was offered as a 'B' in both 2016 and '17, but 9/30/78 hasn't been played since 2015 and could very well be played the last weekend in September as well). I can't imagine they go much longer than that. It would be possible to get 11/11/78 the weekend of November 9th, and 11/13/76 the following weekend (unless Pete made it clear that 1976 will happen the weekend of the 9th, in which case 11/18/78--which has only aired in 2011 and therefore hasn't been offered with the full four hours yet--could happen the weekend of Nov. 16th).

Funny thing -- the above was my prediction for this coming weekend, but I actually had a post written up sometime yesterday which guessed 9/16/78 for next weekend (second guess was 9/22/79). Apparently I closed my browser before I hit "Create Post"!

I'm wondering, since they tend to have been light on 1979 "A" shows, if they're going to wait until late November (or even early December) to do that year and go with one of the yet-unplayed shows from that year. Probably not - we'll probably get a late September/early October show, and then by late November, it'll be time for another 1979 show. And taking all that into account as well as years featured in the last few weeks, the last show of the month is probably either 9/25/71 (with a B) or 9/30/78. Doubtful, as 1978 was the "B" offering last year. I somehow have a feeling that this year's YE show will be one of the standalone years, but that's merely speculation and nothing more.

Minor WSQL complaint: Recently they have taken to starting the show on time at 7ET/4PT Thursday and then breaking for news at the top of the second hour. They used to run the news before the first hour, which provided a much better 'flow' for the show. Wish they would go back to running the show that way.

9/22/73 aired two days after singer Jim Croce died in a plane crash.
