Interesting: Casey had no problem saying "Get Up I Feel Like a Sex Machine" Although he did shorten the rather redundant actual title, "Get Up I Feel Like Being Like a Sex Machine".

Yes, that will be the last weekly show from 1976 for 2019. And 'tis the season (almost), it will be paired with this year's first Christmas program. Ugh. The most dreaded time of year is looming ever closer... Sorry to hear you don't like winter. Perhaps you should live in the Southwest.

Is it the holidays in general that you don't like, or just the programming aspect of the classic AT40 stations during the holidays (or more specifically November and December)?

Not my favorite time of year in general, but specifically HATE the fact that certain radio stations want to cram 'Holiday music' down our throats 24/7 starting on November 1! I know said stations claim it's a ratings winner, but I know far more people who hate it than love it.

These were the Premiere Extras when this show aired in 2014 Hour #1: "Nadia's Theme" - Barry De Vorzon & Perry Botkin Jr. Hour #2: "I Know I'm Losing You" - Temptations (Original AT40 Extra) Hour #3: "I Only Wanna Be With You" - Bay City Rollers (#54) Also get ready for some "Cow Bells" Optional extras of the 1976 show stay the same.

I really like the holidays, but I can do without all of the commercialized Xmas music, especially that which preempts the AT40 classic shows. And I really don't get the appeal in listening to the same rotation of Xmas songs (e.g. "Step Into Christmas" by EJ, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey, that John Lennon song, etc.). But apparently, a large contingent of the minivan soccer moms/dads driving their kids all over town get a bang out of that stuff.

^^I'm OK with Christmas music late in the season, say for a couple of weeks in December, or when shopping. I don't want or need it nonstop on the radio starting right after Halloween (a holiday which I think is commercially overdone, but that's another discussion.)
Relative to this board, it can get annoying when we get close to Christmas trying to find the regular AT40s at a convenient time, especially if I have to change up my weekend schedule, as by then many retro AT40 affiliates are playing either Casey's Christmas shows or none at all.

The Detroit station that goes all-Christmas in November advertises its music as as "the 80s until now", yet when it comes to Christmas music, most of what they play is pre-1980. Hearing those tunes for so long just sounds so... old. If these stations were to start playing Christmas music after Thanksgiving and maybe play a Christmas tune once in every four songs, that might make more sense. The closer to Christmas, the more Christmas music we could hear. But NOOOOOOOO... We have to follow the iHeart radio gods who say that select stations must all flip to Christmas music the second week of November. On the other hand, now that I have Sirius/XM radio in my car, I'll probably attempt to listen to their numerous Christmas stations when they first start ... but just to sample them! I won't listen to those stations full-time, I promise!

I don't know if this time is convenient for you but CKWW based out of Windsor/Detroit hasn't flipped to Christmas leading up to December 25 in the last 6 years. They play AT40 - The 70s Sunday evenings from 7 - 10pm Eastern time. Just wanted to throw that out as an option for you.

Hey mga707, don't get caught up in the blues of holiday format changes just yet. Focus on all the great AT40 shows yet to come in 2019. In fact, if you include this weekend's 1976 show, there are still 18 regular weekly shows from the 70s to finish up the year. Enjoy!
