Sept. 5 1970 (which I do remember listening to on August 30 on 1330 KHYT) on White Squirrel right now--it doesn't get much better than this! Sing it, drunken-sounding Melanie...

I also have very fond memories of the older shows. Love the innocence of the show, with it being so new, and not really knowing if it would even catch on. Who knew at the time what an iconic show AT 40 would become, as well as the legendary Casey Kasem. Thank goodness for the preservation of these shows!

^Good; that makes it so the unaired November, 1976 show stands a good chance of being played in another two months!

WPAC will likely air 9/9/78 as well. To quote Ed McMahon, "You are correct, sir!"

If anyone wants an encore of last week's 1974 show, it's on WHEO.

One of the great things is that, because there were few commercials then, we get the long versions of songs like Melanie and Grand Funk. I was in NYC and we didn't get AT40 until the following spring, so all the 1970 shows are fantastic to hear.

For those interested, WPAC's on-demand stream cuts off this week right before we're all instructed to "...get down, boogie oogie oogie...". In other words, about a minute before the end of the show.

the unaired November, 1976 show stands a good chance of being played in another two months! Yes, that will be the last weekly show from 1976 for 2019. And 'tis the season (almost), it will be paired with this year's first Christmas program.

"Dominique" by The Singing Nun was played as an extra on the countdown from 9/5/70-Casey stated it was a number one hit in 1964-That's incorrect-The song held down the top spot from 12/7 to 12/28/63.
