When 6/30/79 first aired three years ago, what were the optional extras? Looks like they were: Barbra Streisand - The Main Event/Fight Bonnie Pointer - Heaven Must Have Sent You The Cars - Let's Go The Knack - My Sharona

Who had "Wet Willie" in the office pool for the artist to lead off BOTH this week's 1970s options at #40. Which begs the question, does this happen very often?

WMGN's been surprising us a lot lately. After several years of mostly shunning 1970-71 (not so much 1972) they opted to play it this week even with a regular 1975 B available. I wonder if they'll play 1979 next week? That's another thing they mostly didn't do--until they played a three hour version of a May 1979 countdown last month. WMGN must have someone new selecting shows because the station is opting for 6/30/79 this weekend.
KOKZ is airing the 4-hr 1979 show as expected.

Listened to the 1971 show and when Casey introduced the Donny Osmond song it sounded like "Sweet Venison."

Looks like they were: Barbra Streisand - The Main Event/Fight Bonnie Pointer - Heaven Must Have Sent You The Cars - Let's Go The Knack - My Sharona These four are all reused this time. For 6/29/74, the optionals are: Hour #1: "The Night Chicago Died" - Paper Lace (#74) Hour #2: "Sure As I'm Sitting Here" - Three Dog Night (#88; debuted) Hour #3: "You And Me Against The World" - Helen Reddy (#63) The Three Dog Night song replaces Andy Kim's "Rock Me Gently", which was used in 2014/17.

Probably not much, and it wouldn't have happened this week if the 6/29/74 had followed a normal production schedule and procedure, instead of having to guess the chart because Casey had to leave for an acting role in Hawaii before Billboard had the chart ready. On the actual chart, "Keep On Smilin'" was at #43, while Jimmy Buffett's "Come Monday" was #40.

"You & Me Against The World" is a certifiable guilty pleasure-The song's author,Paul Williams, was a guest on a final season episode of "The Odd Couple"-At the end of the episode,Felix began singing the song-Oscar's response was "I'm betting on the world".

Notice for regular listeners to WSQL on Thursday evenings: Since this week's show is a 4-hour program (06/30/79), the show will probably start one hour earlier than usual.

Which part of the 70s does the #1 hits show cover?
I would say it's kind of soon for more 1976, but playing it on July 4 weekend does lend a Bicentennial flair to things. The 1970 debut would also make good symbolic sense, but maybe they're saving that for next year's 50th anniversary.

Interesting -- wouldn't have guessed 1976 (I was ready to say 7/12/75 for the weekend of July 6th), but it makes some sense. The first week in July is always tricky in both series due to the number of specials and guest-hosted shows. And I'm guessing mkarns is right -- 7/11/70 will finally get played again next year as part of the 50th anniversary (it's last airing was for the 40th in 2010).

Hopefully 1975 won't appear until August, with those two consecutive unaired episodes still in the can (8/2 and 8/9).

Kinda odd that we're getting another 1976 show so soon-Anyway,I was about to enter my senior year in high school & these songs will certainly bring back a ton of memories.
