This week's 1976 show included "Love Rollercoaster" by Ohio Players. Whenever I hear that song I remember the urban legend from back then which said a scream heard in the song was from a woman being murdered in a room near the recording studio. I always thought it was someone being shot outside the studio (in a hallway). There was another rumor that it was the screams of the woman on the album cover being burned by the honey they poured on her.

On this week's countdown from 1/24/76,Casey mentioned that Linda Ronstadt had reached the top five in 1975 with remakes of "You're No Good" & "Heat Wave"-However,he forgot to mention "When Will I Be Loved" which peaked at # 2. I wonder if Casey corrected that on a show a few weeks later?

I thought the screaming was just part of the song (people scream on rollercoasters), and the recording would have been made in a sound-proof studio, so if someone screamed in another room or hallway we wouldn't hear it.

A hint for this weekend's AT40: The 70'a show is Feb. 4, 1978 last played in 2021 - but as a standalone show or a B show?

Hmmmm, another piggyback (same year) played last weekend on Sirius XM. This makes two weeks in a row.

So Feb. 4, 1978 might be the B show to go with this.

Hmmmm, another piggyback (same year) played last weekend on Sirius XM. This makes two weeks in a row. Luckily, on this one we only have to suffer through "Americans" once, unlike on the 1/26/74 Sirius-XM show. And also, we don't get screamed at by Sister Mary Elephant either, as she falls from 26 to 41. "Thank-you".

<<<< WTOJ's 1974 Sunday 9am EST Does that include both versions of “The Americans?” Last weekend SXM played 1/26/74, the only one with both, and I said: “ This, I believe, was the only time when both were played. There were three additional weeks with both versions, but AT40 probably rightly determined that people didn't really want to hear the same editorial speech twice in less than three hours even if they were buying two different versions of it.”

Actually last weekend's SXM countdown was 1/17/76, this week's Premiere countdown is 1/24/76. Yes all but a handful of the songs will be the same, but it won't be the same show. Yea Matt. After I typed that message, I had forgotten about the AT 40 SXM thread on here. So went and checked - yes that was the show I heard (1/17/76) I knew this one was one week later.. Just thought it was strange hearing back-to-back weeks on consecutive weekends on different networks. Not really; in August 1970 was on SXM and the "B" show the next and the same 1977 show was the same weekend as Premiere's 'B'. The next month 1975 (different shows) were the same weekend, and in Oct SXM played 1979 which was the 'A' show the following weekend.

This weekend's B show from February 4, 1978, was last played in 2021. Optional extras: “The Way We Were” Barbra Streisand (original countdown extra) “You Really Got Me” Van Halen “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” Lou Rawls (original countdown extra) Extras for both shows are the same this time around.

If only 1974 had been played last week... it would have made a lot more sense since it was a long time 1/26/1974 had been last played. I do see 1/26/1974 being a possibility for 2025 (along with a B show next year, unless if Premiere changes the standalone status criteria once again).
