And this weekend it starts at 9 PM Eastern time, for a five week period due to US and Australian daylight savings times.

Correct on that last point. KDRI, for one, airs local ads during thee first hour when they run 4-hr shows. Okay, thank you. Fair enough. Although "messing" with the flow of the first hour of 4-hour shows is a relatively new occurrence. The first hour used to play happily along, moving seamlessly from "Casey's Coast to Coast" to "American Top 40" and on into the next song. In this 10/13/79 show someone deliberately cut some of those split logos out of the first hour. Also, in this show someone edited the teaser for (and the story about) James Brown's "Please, Please, Please" to remove Casey's commentary that referred to the song peaking at #95 on the pop chart, and replaced those pieces with Casey uttering words to the effect of "never reached the Hot 100." What is that all about? Are these changes different from the 2016/2019 Premiere airings, or are you comparing it to the original broadcast? (I've only heard the 2000's SXM broadcast, so I have no frame of reference)

Sadly, even this show has the 'Bowlderized' edit of "Bad Blood" in it. SO stupid and unnecessary, and NOT done in the original show! ![>:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/superangry.png) Where the offensive B word is replaced by "woman" (with bones alive?) from the first non-offensive verse? Just like Premiere has done to "Fight the Power" by the Isley Brothers for the AT40: The 70's airings of 7/12/1975 and 7/19/1975 censoring the Bull(CENSORED) word.

Just a reminder for those who listen to the '70s show this evening on KLFM: The four Australian states (including Victoria) that observe DST 'sprang forward' this past Sunday, October 1. So today's show will begin one hour earlier than it has been since April. This doesn't affect the Darwin station that carries the show, as the Northern Territory (the capital of which is Darwin) does not observe DST.

And it was brought up a few years ago that Premiere took out the F-word in one of Stevie Wonder’s songs. What is this world coming to?

(I've only heard the 2000's SXM broadcast, so I have no frame of reference) I was comparing this most recent airing (which was edited as I described) to the original from 10/13/79, AND I was comparing ANY edits to the first hour of any 4-hour show to the UNEDITED first hour of 4-hour shows which Premiere and SXM have aired before. Those are the ones where the first hour was played straight through with no cuts from the content, or national commercials played. As I said, you'd hear the split logos in their entirety but with no gap in between, then the next song, extra, listener question, or whatever, would play. In this most recent airing of a 4-hour `70s show, that was NOT the case.

Despite WPNC airing high school football at 1:30 Saturday, there is still plenty of stations airing the 4-hour show from October 13, 1979. Some possibilities:
Saturday WPAC - 6AM WWSF - 7AM KOKZ – 9AM WQOK – NOON WSQL – 4PM
Sunday WBOW - 6AM WQOK – 9AM WTOJ - 9AM WRTH - 10AM KDRI - NOON WPAC - 4PM WGHR - 7PM WQOK – 11PM
Monday WWSF - 7PM

Not part of the lyrics per se but the background of the cop harassing the "suspect".

WXXM Rewind 92.1 FM is now airing this Saturday morning the AT40: The 70's B show of 10/9/1971 (with mono2stereo conversion by Ken Martin).
Later this afternoon I can catch the A show of 10/13/1979 for AT40: The 70's via WVLI Kankakee.

Not part of the lyrics per se but the background of the cop harassing the "suspect". Some Program Directors believe that at the 3:20 mark in Stevie Wonder's song "Living For the City," he sings "the fkin' crowded city." However, the lyrics on Google indicate that the words are "The funky, cryin' city." There's also evidence from a live performance on YouTube where he repeats the same line without censorship. To comply with the Program Director's demands, Premiere will edit songs like this to avoid questionable swear words, which is why songs like "Bad Blood," "Life in the Fast Lane," "Tumblin' Dice," and more receive edits. Personally, I may not agree with this policy, especially regarding the word 'bch,' but I don't have the authority to change it.

Oh, BTW, the 1979 countdown on Sunday morning also has a Supersized version airing on WTOJ. It's only 11:03 more, but all of it will be there in it's unedited glory!
