Here comes the annual multi-week absence for Ryan...
Kicking off the festivities will be Melanie Martinez, sitting in this weekend (8/19).
ETA: Also, a record was set this past weekend for returning #1's, as "Calm Down" returns to the top after ten weeks away (even falling as far as #3 during that time), breaking the record set in 1998, with "Truly Madly Deeply" spending all nine weeks at #2 in between stints at #1.
Melanie does not indicate at the end of the show who is hosting next weekend.

Meanwhile, Ryan is doing guest host duties himself this week, filling in for Mark Consuelos on "Live With Kelly and Mark"--just as Mark often did for Ryan in his six years as co-host. Incidentally, Melanie Martinez' CHR AT40 this week is one of the few with no debuts or droppers.

As I'm organizing my library, I thought I'd list all the guest hosts since Ryan took over AT40 in 2004. I am missing a few shows in the first half of 2007 (and some cue sheets are still unavailable as well), but will have them in the next few weeks. This will be updated, especially the 2010s as I add shows.
So far this decade, Ryan has taken off every week during a 4-week block around Labor Day, except for 8/29/2020. I expect this year to be no exception. I have noticed a lot more absences in this decade, up to 37 already (and very likely to climb in the next few weeks). To put it in perspective, his 37th last decade came in April 2018.
Fun fact: Every show dated 7/6, 7/11 and 7/15 has been guest-hosted in the Ryan era.
Here goes:
2004-08-14: Hilary & Haylie Duff 2004-08-21: Kelly Clarkson 2005-07-09: Gavin DeGraw 2005-08-13: Jesse McCartney 2006-03-18: Nick Lachey 2006-07-15: Christina Aguilera 2006-08-26: Jessica Simpson 2006-12-16: Mario Lopez 2007-06-02: Mandy Moore 2007-07-07: Kelly Clarkson 2007-08-11: Miley Cyrus & Billy Ray Cyrus 2008-01-12: Ashley Tisdale 2008-05-31: Steve Carell 2008-06-14: Miley Cyrus 2009-01-03: Brody Jenner 2009-01-10: Guiliana Rancic 2009-05-30: Nick Cannon 2009-07-11: Kris Allen & Adam Lambert 2009-08-08: Katy Perry 2009-11-28: Taylor Swift

I am nowhere near completed in looking for guest hosts, but here are a few that I have record of that are not yet on your list. 2005-07-09: Gavin DeGraw 2007-08-11: Billy Ray & Miley Cyrus (you are listing just Miley) 2009-11-28: Taylor Swift 2016-07-30: Ryan Tedder (I show both 07/23 and 07/30 for Ryan T)

Thank you, mitchm . 7/9/2005 and 11/28/2009 were mistagged in my library. I've been trying to go through this new batch with a fine-tooth comb, as the previous batch had some that were guest-hosted but not indicated as such, and while I caught some, I missed a few. 7/30/2016 was hosted by Seacrest. More updates to come. ETA: Just heard this week's show close; Chance The Rapper said, interestingly, that Ryan will be back next week. If true, this will be the first Labor Day weekend show hosted by Ryan this decade (last in 2019).

Jelly Roll not only guest-hosted AT40 this weekend, he was in-studio on the Country Top 30 with Bobby Bones on this weekend's show. And, he, along with Lainey Wilson, have the current #1 on the Country Top 40 with Fitz ("Save Me").
What a year for Jelly Roll.
