So now given this, for the second straight year, Ryan takes off at least four consecutive weeks. So the next weekend he could possibly be back is 9/17.

Ryan is back this week, just in time to make a major goof, claiming that Nicki Minaj's new hit "Super Freaky Girl" samples "the 1981 James Brown hit 'Super Freak'", as Rick James flips in his grave and MC Hammer calls or e-mails with a correction.

Reportedly (it hasn't been broadcast yet) in this weekend's show Ryan intros "Super Freaky Girl" by correctly noting that it borrows from Rick James. |

This weekend cohost with Ryan Seacrest is Ed Sheeran, and next weekend is Saweetie guest hosting AT40 Ed Sheeran returns this weekend, filling in for Seacrest who was sidelined with COVID last week at recording time. (Ryan was back on TV this week and so presumably will be hosting next week's countdown.) |

Hmmm. When was the last time, or has there really been another time, when Seacrest had to have a guest host fill in because of an unplanned circumstance/illness?

Hmmm. When was the last time, or has there really been another time, when Seacrest had to have a guest host fill in because of an unplanned circumstance/illness? I'm sure there have been several other occasions over his nearly 19 year AT40 tenure, but this is one of the few (only?) times when he publicly disclosed the illness or situation. Usually it can be assumed he's on vacation (note the four week block of time off in Aug/Sept) or too busy with his other appearances or commitments, but neither he nor the guest host says why, at least not seriously or truthfully. |
