I am seeing a pattern here with the 2000s shows.. He will play 2001-2003, and 2008-2009 only it seems. And occasionally a chart from the 2010s. But we have yet to see a countdown from 2000, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. I hate to look a "gift horse" in the mouth, because I am so very pleased that we are getting anything from beyond 1999, but hopefully Rick will have at least a few shows from the five "missing" years sprinkled in during the coming weeks and months. It does make me wonder why he seems to have a pretty complete stockpile of shows from 5 years and virtually nothing from the other 5 years if that proves to be the case.

I'm not all too upset about it however. I am glad he is providing these countdowns too. 2009 is one of my favorite years of the decade. I may listen to this show more than once.lol. My favorites in the decade are: 1. 2000. 2. 2009. 3. 2008. 4. 2001. 5. 2003. The other years were ok but easily forgotten imo. Apparently Rick forgot about them too.lol

As I crank up the D2K show, the 2000s are turning out to be worse than the 90s as far as year selection. In the 90s he has avoided 1998 entirely, almost avoids 1990 entirely but seems to give the other 8 years enough plays to satisfy the average listener. Not so much in the 2000s with only half the years represented thus far. Can't play the rap card either when he has yet to play 2000, a largely rap free year in pop music.

Spoiler finally a new number 1, week 17-22 THE CHAINSMOKERS & COLDPLAY – SOMETHING JUST LIKE THISLooks like Chainsmokers & Coldplay finally a new #1 song this weekend, after Ed Sheeran recently had spent 13 wks #1. I'm not even surprised that they managed to play Jun 4, 1988 once again, just few weeks ago that they already did play in mid May weekend. Not sure why they keep doing this. This isn't the first time that happened, but this year kept happening for most recent repeats. But then again 80s rotation has been poor

Question: could be bonus hour show after current week 17-22 Hot AC Rick Dees December 06, 2008 Hot AC ?
After current 17-22 CHR the bonus is really December 06, 2008 CHR, but first song played in the bonus after HAC is number 24 one step at a time by Jordin Sparks.

They are consistent if nothing else. Those are all Memorial Day weekend shows. Of course a week too early from an anniversary standpoint. Don't hear the 1992 show before the 1989 show if you don't want to know what the #1 song in the 1989 show is before you hear it. (Because the artist that has that #1 song also has the #5 song in the 1992 show!) And a week after the 1992 show, we get a 1996 show where Rick does one of the "#1 song on the day you were born" segments, which includes bits of the #1's from 34/24/14/4 years earlier, and a bit of the song that was #1 in the show we heard just last week, that being En Vogue's "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)".

rick dees have updated retros i believe.. i don't usually trust captions, but correct me if im wrong.. 80s: jun 21, 1986 90s Jun 6, 1992 2000s: jun 5, 2010 (not sure if it's CHR or HAC..) Bonus: Jan 17, 2003, CHR i think You're right about all three. 6/21/86 is the same played as last year (about two weeks early); 6/6/92 is not, but we just got that year from him two weeks ago. (Last year we had 6/4/94 the same week as 6/21/86). For the 21st century shows, we've been in the pattern of consecutive years (2008/09/10 the last three weeks) that I've sometimes noticed for the 80s and 90s. While it's arguably early for 2010 to be included in flashback/nostalgia programming, it's still an interesting curveball with a lot of songs that most of us probably haven't heard in a while (if ever). Incidentally, last week's 1988 and 1996 shows didn't match the ones played on the same weekend the last three years, which were 5/30/87 and 6/8/91. However, I'd have preferred another replay of the 1987 show over the same 1988 one heard just two weeks earlier. At least we get 1987 from Casey this week.

Edit once again: if you read the start of this post, Hour 1 Part 1 in the D2K show starts with number 30, which is really segment Hour 2, part 1, then the show continues with hour 1, it seems there is an error with the 1st segment of the D2K show. Now is fixed.
Last edit. The bonus hour show. yes it is january, but 2009 january , no 2003. Bonus Hour show is January 17, 2009 HAC from second hour.

Listening to the 2010 show and I don't know if Rick meant big sister in the sense of the 'big brother/big sister' thing where someone is a mentor to someone else. Or when he said that Shontell was a big sister to Rihanna that he meant that she is the big sister sibling to her. As far as I can tell after looking at wikipedia and Joel Whitburn's Pop book, they are not related. Shontell is also from Barbados and is 3 years older than Rihanna. Also of note is that this week Ryan Seacrest said if Miley Cyrus makes AT40 with her breakout hit, she will join Noah Cyrus in the 40 to become the first sisters on AT40 together since Jessica and Ashleigh Simpson in 2004. Well if Rihanna and Shontell were sisters, they would have accomplished that feat around the time of this Dees show in 2010.
I did not realize Mariah covered "I Want to Know What Love Is".

Looks like with Shontelle in the hit, it is Jun 5, 2010 CHR. And I remember the song Mariah Carey remake of "I Want to Know What Love Is", that has made a minor hit in the HAC chart in late fall 2009 when I listened to those, but never has hit in CHR charts. And I guess this song is an extra in this countdown.
