Ouch... XM should definitely have the correct Greg Kihn song in their library, and if they're missing the other two (which are obscure by their standards), they should just mess with the chart as usual instead of blatantly screwing up what's played. I addressed this on the XM fan board; I can sort of understand the Meat Loaf/Steinman substitution, as it's the same song and Steinman produced them both, so they don't sound too different to casual listeners (not necessarily us). But the "Everlasting Love" switch was ridiculous and then some; someone suggested that maybe they did a search and came up with the wrong song with the same title. Maybe so, but they should have been able to correct that before the show actually aired. If they couldn't find the right songs then they should just have done what they usually do and reached further down the August 1981 chart for alternatives.

Considering they stopped playing the original version of "The Breakup Song" a few years ago (during the pre-merger SIRIUS Big 80's days), I'm gonna assume that won't be fixed. I doubt they even still have it in their archives.

I did not even remember the Rex Smith & Rachel Sweet version of "Everlasting Love". If they were going to mess up, they should have just played the much better Carl Carlton or Gloria Estefan versions instead. Anyway, this my first time listening to the show. Thanks for the upload. I just wish Sendspace would not limit the download speed so much for free users.

You know if your going to quote something do it right! You see, first of all they are using the Cashbox charts and so far up to #30 they have played ALL of the songs listed in the top 40. Now what I'm talking about is that the man Mark Goodman (I think) said that the song would climb to #2, well we all know it's true but only in Billboard. On the chart that they're using it spent one week at #1! I'm just saying...

Alan Hunter introduced Tina Turner's "Typical Male" with that data; it topped both the Cash Box and Radio & Records charts but got stuck at #2 for 3 weeks in Billboard. On an unrelated note, how did we get the Spanish language version of David Lee Roth's "Yankee Rose"? I didn't even know that existed!

It was reported originally on an AT40 episode and I forgot which episode that it was that he had mentioned that actually. It was weeks after the song fell out of the top 40. I missed that part of the show (VJ Big 40), but I'll listen to it later on. Anyway I did not miss much for I cannot stand that song.

While they flip back and forth between Cashbox and Billboard for the actual countdown, they have always used Billboard when talking about peak positions. Also, I haven't listened to this week's show yet, but we are currently on a five-week run of no replacements! Hopefully that will continue.

For this week's B40, they return to Billboard, using the September 6, 1980 Hot 100 with no replacements. Incidentally, that is a Billboard chart we'll never hear counted down from Premiere, as Gordon Elliott guest hosted AT40 that week.

This week's B40 uses the Cashbox chart from 9/19/87. And there's already a big mistake: Erasure's "Victim of Love" was played in place of the Bryan Adams hit of the same name, and afterward Martha Quinn announced it as the Adams song. This isn't really her fault, of course; evidently the producers/engineers mix the songs in around the VJs' voicetracking and screwed up.
At least this weekend we get to hear Casey count down the same week's hits correctly.
