I hope that they re-edit the show and insert the Bryan Adams title song "Victim Of Love" version and remove Erasure's version. Yes both of these records were "hits" but the one that Erasure sings was a UK top 10 and US Club Play Dance #1. Don't get me wrong I was most definitely jamming to the "wrong song" when it came on. But let's get the right songs in the right places, huh? Technically speaking I'd say the one that most likely be remembered may be the Erasure title song, besides I heard theirs first. *laughs*

Next week's not AT 40, 1982 As with last week, no great need to hear this IMO as this week we get Casey from the same year (though I'll probably listen anyway if I have time.) I hope 1988 or 1989 is next, as Premiere won't duplicate that.

This week's B40 list was based on the Cash Box chart from October 1, 1988. Next up is 1983.

This week's show was the 10/8/83 Cashbox list. Note the playing of the extended remix of "The Safety Dance" at #2 (it was #1 the previous week in CB, while it only hit #3 in Billboard) where the word "Safety" is spelled out. Casey never played that to my knowledge, though I remember Shadoe playing it in an AT40 Flashback segment in 1990.
Speaking of Casey, also note Alan Hunter's lame attempt to imitate his delivery of the title "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" (Alan acknowledges he was trying to copy Casey's voice).

October 29, 1989
You know, they played all of the songs in all correct positions using Cashbox. At the same time, it seems to me that they are having a hard time finding all those "rarities" in high quality. Here are a couple of examples, "Sugar Daddy" (The Thompson Twins) and "Sunshine" (Single Version) By Dino sounded like they were from old cassettes. I'm not mad at them though, I'd probably would have done the same thing, putting together shows like these is mighty hard work. I have one myself called "Josh Joel's Top 40 - The 80s - (Urban Top 40 Countdown). So far I've been blessed to find all of the songs in satisfactory quality.

Next week's not AT40; 1980 According to the XM discussion board, 1980 will be followed by 1986 and then 1982, taking us through Thanksgiving weekend.

Any word on this week's Casey lite? I don't think they announced the year at the end of the 1987 show. I didn't hear that either; it's been longest since they did 1988, 1983, or 1985, and since they tend to cycle pretty evenly through the decade I bet it'll be one of those (hopefully not 1983 since we also get that from Premiere this weekend.)

Thanks, although this week's show is what I wasn't hoping for. At least the following few shows won't duplicate Premiere's years, presuming that the 1985 show is a regular rundown of 40 songs from a week in December 1985 and not a year end recap; 1981 will be done while Premiere does the second half of the 1985 year end AT40, and obviously December 1988 and 1989 won't be played by Premiere.
I'd have preferred December 1989, though, as January 1989 will repeat most of the songs from December 1988, just three weeks earlier.

Well their chart from the same week of 1983 wasn't too identical to AT40's. I got a chance to hear one of my favourites that should have charted higher at #34 by Kim Carnes called "Invisible Hands". That song peaked at #40 on AT40.

I wonder if Casey Lite realizes they played both 1988 and 1985 at the end of Dec and 1989 and 1986 are basically those same songs again in Jan? And playing 1982 next week means most of the same songs that were played a few weeks ago (New Year's weekend) as the top 40 of December 31, 1981. If I were scheduling the shows, then I'd have switched 1989 and 1981, thus giving listeners December 1989 and then January 1981 (they haven't done 1980 since mid-November, so it wouldn't be too redundant.)
