This just in - there's an extra countdown for Valentine's Day, and it features the 'Greatest 80s Love Songs Of All Time' at 12:00 pm ET/9:00 am PT. On their Facebook page, they're asking to the listeners what songs should be on the list.

I wish they would do 1980 or 1981 instead. I don't understand why there are suddenly doing back to back years. First, 1985 and 1986 during the first of couple weeks of the new year (same countdown). Then they did 1983 followed by 1982?? Really doesn't make sense. The order of years does seem a bit unusual, but I'm choosing to be happy that they're finally mixing up the order and thus featuring some different charts than were played in 2012 and 2013, especially for the recent 1987 show (whereas pretty much all of last year's 1987 charts were the same or one week off from the previous year).

All the usual suspects were there for the hour it aired.

Next week's show is from 1988, which will presumably be from either 2/20 or 2/27/88; the former, of course, would likely duplicate Premiere's Casey countdown for this week.

Still no 1980 or 1981 yet... it's a really long time since they last did either of these years.

On the other hand, what they won't do is duplicate themselves; I seem to remember they aired this same date (2/20/88) before, only with a different chart - that chart had "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" at #1. EDIT: Found it! 'Twas Cash Box they used that week.

This week's show they used the same chart as we got last week from Premiere (2/20/88)
Next week is 1980.

This week's show was from the 2/23/80 chart, though 3/1/80 would have fit better date-wise.
Next week is 1984, which may mean a retread of this week's Casey AT40 (3/3/84). They could also do 3/10/84, which at least will never be precisely copied by Premiere as it was guest hosted.

According to Alan Hunter on this week's 1980 show, The Captain & Tennile only had two big hits in their career - "Love Will Keep Us Together" & "Do That To Me One More Time".
Now, if he would have said they only had two number one's in their career, that would have been correct - but only two big hits? They had 7 top 10's (6 of which went top 5).

Next week's Casey lite; as predicted 1981!! And as predicted, this is before MTV launched later that year. I'll probably go with the 3/14 chart this time that they will use.

It'll never happen, but they should just admit that they don't care about/for any music from before August 1st, 1981.

Whenever they play any early 80's chart he will say how horrible the charts were at that time. It's for this reason I think the 80's channel should be changed to "The MTV era" channel. Aside from the countdowns their regular programming is almost entirely MTV's playlist.

Well, to be fair to Alan, he did speak enthusiastically of the musical diversity when they did 1980 a few weeks ago. Alan, you know, if you like so many different types of 80s music, you could actually play all of them..,

No need to listen to Copycat Casey this week; likely same chart as Premiere. And another reason why you shouldn't listen to Casey lite either - folks at the XMFan Forums are getting frustrated at the VJs and the PD on the 80s channel for the lack of variety. Yeah, I think songs from 1980/1981 (pre-MTV) and 1988/1989 should be in the regular playlist.
