Next week it'll be all about 1980!
Also there was no mention of St. Patrick's Day at all, but Alan did reference the Ides Of March (March 15, not the band that included a member of Survivor who was also on this week's countdown).

Chart date should be 3-22-80. If the order continues, the following week would be 1986.

Likely date of the show should be 3-16-85. I wonder if the VJs will call it a "St. Patrick's Day Show." I am pleased that all ten years were played before a year was repeated. Great work VJs. Was it 3-16-85, same as this weeks Casey "B" show?

Was it 3-16-85, same as this weeks Casey "B" show? Yes. Making it the first straight "B" show duplication in just over a year and a half (not since the end of August 2021) and first time there's been two duplications in a row since October 2020 (which also had a three-out-of-four-week period of them). But with Big 40 doing 1980 and Premiere doing 1981 next week, there's basically no chance of three.

I recently stumbled onto a video of Nina Blackwood circa 1986. Compared to present-day Nina, the person in the video was unrecognizable. She looked and sounded more like Debbie Gibson. Hearing her speak with a regular voice was jarring.
Also, I noticed this past weekend's show was never made available on demand.

There have been problems with the On Demand feature in 2023. Before this year, it would state "New Friday" on Saturday morning, which I chose to listen to the show. I hope it is resolved. Of course, we also lost the Tuesday 6 pm version of the show as well.

After two weeks in a row copying Premiere, they go with a date that will never get played on there because of Charlie Van Dyke guest hosting, 3/29/80.

In terms of chart playability/frequency choices, it makes no difference as neither 3/22 nor 3/29 has/had yet been done.
In terms of what this means for next week - that is a bit more interesting, as I think it would seem to rule out 1986. (Their two choices would be 3/29, when they have never aired the same calendar date two weeks in a row, or 4/5, which would be going 5 days past the Friday premiere date two weeks in a row - which I'm not sure how likely that would be.)
There are a few pitfalls to that, however:
1) It makes 4/5/86 somewhat more likely for the week after next, and they just did that last year. 2) There's no obvious "good" choice for next week (3/27/82 would have been that kind of good choice had tonight been 3/22). 3) It makes 3/31/84 somewhat more likely for next week - they just did that last year, too, and going next week would elevate it to an unholy level: Five Times Played, a dubious distinction currently held only by the likes of 2/20/88.

Welp. So much for that idea. (But at least the god-awful 84 scenario won't be coming to pass now.) So now it's just a question of is this the latest "never been done before" to fall away, or do they keep playing wacky dating (for which the proverbial Pandora's Box seems to have been opened, ever since that week in November...)? Oh, and I neglected to mention that with this, 86 will either duplicate or mimic Premiere now - third time in four weeks, which as I mentioned recently hasn't happened since October 2020.

Right Mike, either they repeat a March 29th chart next week, or go with April 5th, when it's still March. When they did 1980 on 1-6-23, they went with 1-4-80, so the choice of 3-29-80 is very strange.

At least the "On Demand" feature is better this week--1980 is already available.

So far it looks like they're going in the same order of years they did in the beginning, though it's still way too soon to tell if they'll keep this up.
