If they go by the schedule they've mostly been using, it should be 1981. However, that's not a given, as they flipped 1984 and 1988 the past two weeks from their usual pattern. If it's not 1981, then probably 1985.

Unfortunately, with the pattern they're going right now, they are repeating certain countdowns from the past. Wished they could mix the years up in the future...

Unfortunately, with the pattern they're going right now, they are repeating certain countdowns from the past. Wished they could mix the years up in the future... I've mentioned this before, and it's because they continue to (mostly) repeat the same pattern every 10 weeks that certain years (later 80's especially) keep getting repeated during the same weeks. You'd think this wouldn't be hard to fix, but I imagine the people in charge just don't care about it.

Confirmed, Copycat Casey 1981. Only question now is will it be the week before the real thing airing on Premiere. Since this is the first weekend of November, it'll be the copycat version of what we'll hear on Premiere this weekend (11/7 and 11/8 was the first weekend in November 1981).

It's possible the VJ's might use the 10/31/81 chart instead. At least that would have seven different songs than Premiere's AT40.

Quite soon to hear 1989 though. There must be a year flip, 1989 flips 1985.
Wonder if 1985 will be featured on 11/15?

Next week's Not AT40, 1985! This may duplicate Premiere, unless they are willing to use 11/16 for that matter.

I think they'll use 11/16/85, as that lines up with next week's dates. At least they didn't play 1985 the same weekend as Premiere, as they did last week with 1981.

They did use the chart from 11/16/85. My hunch for next week will be a year that doesn't exist on MTV, according to SXM. They emphasize on the MTV era quite often.

Next week's Copycat Casey... 1983!! Will they use exact same chart as this week's Premiere? Don't know... they may, but they may also use 12/3 which Premiere cannot air due to a guest host. We'll have to wait and see.

I'm on vacation so I am posting early this week; next not AT40..1987!! Following the pattern route once again. Looks like they may use the chart from 12/5, which cannot be aired by Premiere in this case due to a guest host that week.

Next week's Casey lite; likely to be poor duplicate of show offered by Premiere, 1982!! SXM 8 will probably use the 12/11/82 chart, which Premiere will probably also do if they run 1982 this December, since they ran 12/18/82 just last year. At least this week's show will never be precisely duplicated by Premiere, as it was 12/5/87, when Charlie Van Dyke guest hosted AT40 (too bad, as I really like the Outfield's "All the Love In the World", which was an LDD in that show.)

No need to listen to Casey lite tonight; it is a the same chart as the far superior real thing airing on Premiere this weekend. Personally, I didn't mind listening to 12/11/82 on SXM8 as it was more convenient to use their home receiver device than to listen to Premiere via an on-line connection. Also the dj's intros are often more comprehensive than those given by Casey on his show -- though I recognize that, for AT40 die- hards, only Casey will suffice.

Both last week's and this week's Big 40 shows are using charts from time frames not featured last year. Given their tendency to cycle through the years in the same order every year, it's refreshing to get a couple of weeks like that.
