Next week's Casey lite; as predicted 1988! But is it July 30 or August 6? If it's July 30, then that's the show we won't see Premiere air due to a guest host (two to be exact). If it's August 6, then that's not much help.

If 1988 is next week then odds are it'll be August 6 - thus, there will be no reason to listen.

No need to listen to Copycat Casey tonight, a poor replication of last week's real thing from 1982. Actually, one difference is playing long versions of hit songs. I had never heard the full length version of "Love Plus One" before, though I think the shorter one sounds better. However, this can be done to a fault: 10 minutes of "Do I Do" is a bit much, even with Dizzy Gillespie. They did play the "Where Did Our Love Go" part of "Tainted Love", which Casey never did to my knowledge, but not the extended version of "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" with the uptempo "Get Away" part at the end, which I've heard as an AC recurrent.

No need to listen to Casey lite tonight. It is a poor replication of this week's Premiere. And they even broke their own rule - normally they usually don't go past the Friday date, which was 8/2 in this case.

Likely to be the week prior to mid Aug Premiere show! They're likely to do so again next week, albeit ending up closer to the Friday date this time. On another note - not sure how many are aware, but Sirius XM runs a similar countdown on their 90s channel as well - it also follows the Hot 100, only that one only goes down to 30. Well, I happen to have the AT40 from 8/6/88 in my collection, and it turns out the same is true of the one for their 90s show as well: 8/4/90. I don't have Sirius XM, but suffice it to say that if I did, this would definitely be an off-week for me.

After 1991, the Hot 100 became increasingly out of touch with what people were hearing, and by about 1994 the increasing number of radio hits not released as singles, and therefore not eligible for the Hot 100, rendered that chart completely useless IMO for a CHR countdown, which only slightly improved at the end of the decade when such songs were allowed to chart on it.

Does anyone else archive/record this show? I've got about 50 of them but I've missed some weeks in there. Would be interested in trading (preferably online but offline/CD type stuff would do too) if anyone else has any weeks recorded.
I also have many many other radio shows to trade. Let me know if anyone is looking for anything.

Next week's not AT40; as predicted 1985! BMR is doing 1983 Hot 100 (and Bubbling Under) Fri-Sun, so no duplicates there. 1985 shouldn't duplicate Premiere's show for next weekend...

It doesn't since Premiere is doing 1986. And next week's VJ countdown is 1989, so it won't replicate Casey no matter what.

Next week's Casey lite as predicted 1980!! SXM 8 sure likes jumping right from one end of the decade to the other. This is the fourth straight time when 1980 and 1989 have been back-to-back, in either order.

Which will very likely be the year Premiere does next weekend as well; we haven't heard it since the first week of July.

Is it just me, or is SXM following this pattern? For the most part, the years go like this:
1983 1987 1982 1988 1984 1986 1981 1985 1989 1980

Next week's not AT40, as predicted 1987! Just as I thought it would be, hence the pattern. Shouldn't repeat next week's Premiere show nor this weekend's Bobbymagicradio 1982 Hot 100 special that he's featuring.

They tend to stick to one pattern over and over, with only the occasional change. The last time the pattern was altered was in June. There are several problems with doing it this way, but they don't seem to care. The problems are: 1. The same years tend to get featured in the same months year after year. This week's 1987 chart, for example, was played last year, as was the last 1988 show that was played. 2. The January shows often feature charts that were 4-5 weeks after the December shows, as in they will play 1985 in December and 1986 in January. Apparently, nobody has been able to figure this one out.
