Next week's not AT40; as predicted 1988! Yet another year SXM is going light on - they're still missing lots of hits from 1988.

I just have a question about this countdown. If anyone chooses to respond please either don't reference the name of the show or call it what it is. I hate the rather backhanded slaps on it with the names it is given here. I know Sirius has been doing this show for many years now. And I would assume that by now they've done some of the same weeks. Do they do a new countdown every time they do it? Or is it a rerun of previous times?

I don't think they've ever done a full-fledged rerun, though some of the lines they use for song intros and outros are recycled. One reason why they don't seem to repeat is that they include a lot of new information, such as "where are they now?" type updates and info on new recordings, concerts, etc. by the acts played.

Next week's Casey lite; as predicted 1981!! And speaking of 1981, what do you know? Bobbymagicradio is also playing this year - except he's going super deep by playing the Hot 100 all this weekend. In other words, SXM is missing lots of hits, even though this is the earliest year they call it the MTV era. The countdown next weekend SXM's featuring is just before MTV launched - lots of hits missing on their channel, especially country crossovers being ignored. Not only that, Neil Diamond is getting the shaft on SXM. Are they not respecting the adult contemporary hits either?

1981 might be a year we hear next weekend on Premiere.

If SXM would become a better channel, they either need to bring back Casey Kasem's AT40 on the 80s channel, or better yet - get rid of Alan and Nina on the Big 40 Countdown. Then you would have a show with Mark & Martha as well as hopefully an expanded playlist if the DJ's would listen to us. The 80s playlist has become pretty stale recently with only 632 songs according to the XMFan.com boards, yet the SXM channel says there's 850 songs in the regular rotation with 500-600 other songs based on the countdown shows and lost hits. It's just not what SXM used to be back then when it was XM with over 2000+ songs... sad

Does anyone know the title of the song that consistently serves as the intro music for the Big 80s on 8 Top 40 countdown?
This is the background music that plays as the original VJs announce the countdown show for any given week. In other words, it's not part of a specific countdown.
I can't really describe it except that it sounds like the intro for a metal/hair band song and goes something like, "Dun-na duh-duh, dun-na duh duh" with drums and instrumentation.
Thanks in advance and apologies for the vague description!

Next week's Not AT40, as predicted 1980!! Which is the year before MTV existed. Actually, as a matter of fact, the playlist though seems to be expanding a bit recently. Now if only they can get the right versions for these songs when they feature 1980 next week...

Nobody pointed out that last week's Big 40 was a chart featured last year. It's annoying to me, both because we don't hear 1989 charts anywhere else, and because the 7/1/89 chart was literally closer to the 2013 airdate, but they opted for 6/24 all the same.

Have they decided what year is next yet? Hopefully it's not a duplicate of Premiere's airing next week!

Next week's not AT40; 1987 Since they did 7/9/83 this week, I guess next week will be 7/18/87, which will never precisely duplicate Premiere's show since that week's AT40 was guest hosted.
