It's also the same chart they used last year at this time.

No need to listen to Casey lite tonight; it will be a poor duplication of the real thing this week on Premiere. But how many songs does SXM play on a regular basis? Probably less than half. And some years hardly any songs on the countdown get played regularly. C'mon Sirius XM - wake up and start expanding the playlist!

The trouble is the decades channels play the hits from that decade. If you want deeper cuts you need to switch to Classic Rewind or Classic Vinyl, both of which play the "deeper cuts". Every song is broken down into its own sub genre and gets played on that individual channel. Only the biggest hits get played on the decades channels.

And many of the biggest hits don't even get played on the decades channels, except during the countdown shows. That's particularly true for the adult contemporary-leaning hits. 80s on 8 tends to skimp on both the beginning and end of the decade, with most of their regular rotation coming from 1982-87. At least they include all 10 years in their countdown show, though this week that means a second duplicate of Casey's AT40 unless they decide to do the chart for a week later with at least a few different songs.

They really should rename the 80's channel the Classic MTV channel since that's basically what it is.

You want to find a year that is mostly ignored by SXM? Bobbymagicradio is playing all top 40 hits from the year 1980 all day today. Much better than IT XM 8 used to have.

Next week's not AT40, as predicted 1985! That should mean the Billboard chart from April 13, 1985, when "We Are the World" reached #1. BTW, AT40 was guest hosted that week, so this won't duplicate Premiere's countdown.

Next week's Casey lite; won't repeat Premiere 1989!! But will repeat BMR's year (bobbymagicradio) this weekend except they're playing all songs to hit the Billboard Hot 100 in chronological order back in 1989.

Next week's Casey lite; won't repeat Premiere 1989!! It also might be a carbon copy of last year's April 1989 show, unless they go with the chart from 4/22 which seems unlikely.

Last year they ran the previous week. Yes, and I was glad to hear that. It's becoming more and more common for them to play the same shows as last year, or only be one week off. But given the choice, I'd rather they be a week off.

1982 may seem to be one of the years SXM is targeting, but they are missing some of the hits.
This weekend, bobbymagicradio is playing all the songs to hit the Hot 100 back in 1982.

Next week is 1987, which from clues given probably means another double dose of the same songs we get from Casey.

With the options they have why are they repeating weeks they did last year? This weekend's show (1983) is the same chart they used last year at this time.

If you don't prefer Casey lite's year this weekend where it duplicates Premiere and Rick Dees 80's show, then this weekend you can tune in to Bobbymagicradio.
Are you ready for what year they are playing? 1984 - Hot 100 edition all weekend!
