Looks like 2/22, unless they for some reason decide to go with 2/15 with next Friday being the 19th. Regardless at least they won't be doing 3/1.
Looking ahead, 1981 looks like the best bet to wrap up February. Thing is that leaves 1984 and 1987 that haven't been played yet this year. If 1984 is featured the first week of March, it will more than likely be 3/3, which either hasn't been played or hasn't been done in a while, while 1987 would be the next week, with a date that was last played in 2017. If 1987 is featured in the first week of March, it would be a similar scenario chart-date wise with 3/7, but that would leave 1984 to be the next week, and that would have just been featured two years ago.

1984 was the last year played in 2020, and I am thinking that might be the case to wrap up the first ten weeks of 2021. I am guessing after next weekend that it will be 1981, 1987 and 1984. I really don't think whoever plans the years to be played goes back too far to consider if the particular week was played in past years. Given how many mistakes are made in a single episode, I am concluding not much preparation goes into these episodes. I do have to say at least they have never omitted a song in the Top 40 that I am aware of.

If 1984 is featured the first week of March, it will more than likely be 3/3, which either hasn't been played or hasn't been done in a while Its one previous time was in 2014. Given that it's a lose-lose scenario for the second week of March, maybe 81-87-84 would be the preferred outcome? That would likely prohibit Premiere duplication, as they just did 81, and both 3/7/87 and 3/10/84 were guest-hosted.

Though I would rather 81-84-87 to avoid playing the super-recent 1984 show, that could be the possible outcome.
Yeah it should go without saying that they should plan the year order better.

On the one hand, the VJs are sparing us a sixth airing of 2/20/88 this year. On the other hand, guess what show we're getting from Premiere next weekend?
If the remaining three years are coming after 1986, then 81-84-87 is the preferred order. Another option, though somewhat unlikely, would be to hold off one more week on 1987 and throw in 3/12/88 first. That chart hasn't been played since 2013 and the 3/21/87 chart would be new. It depends on how likely they are to play 1988-1987 back to back. It's not unheard of.

On the one hand, the VJs are sparing us a sixth airing of 2/20/88 this year. On the other hand, guess what show we're getting from Premiere next weekend? In fairness, this is only the second time Premiere's done that week in any incarnation rather than, say, the sixth. Funny thing is, though, the first time in both cases was in 2014. The side-by-side of how each has handled that week since then can be Exhibit A in how Big 40 hasn't exactly done a bang-up job with these. It depends on how likely they are to play 1988-1987 back to back. It's not unheard of.Actually - it is! Those two paired together happened for the one and only time so far back in October - in reverse order. Thus, 88-87 in that order has never been done.

If we're to get March 1987, I'd prefer that it be 3/7/87, as it's one that we don't get from Premiere--and features the only top 40 appearance of the Communards' "Don't Leave Me This Way".

That leaves 1987 and 1984 to be played in March. For March 5th it would be 3-7-87, OR if they go with 1984 it would be 3-3-84.

I think Premiere has given us another reason to hope for 3/7/87 and then 3/10/84, or else otherwise for not having 1987 the second week of March - that risks duplicating Casey. I mean, yeah, there's the chance of Big 40 doing 3/7 and then Premiere doing 3/14, but as previously stated Big 40 doing 3/7 has its own benefits.

I still think it could go either way. As I said, the only is if they go with 1987 and 1984 in that order, then the latter will be a repeat chart from just 2 years ago.
Also I found it kind of funny that Mark mentioned Cashbox at the beginning of this week's show.

I tend to think that if those two years are the first two weeks of March, then the second week is more or less going to be a "d**ned if you do, d**ned if you don't" scenario, in that either way the choice comes with a pitfall. Quite honestly, the only two years that could go in there with a show that hasn't yet been done are 1980 (only if it's 3/15) or 1985 - either of which would be coming back somewhat quickly. But as I've previously mentioned, this is just going to happen that certain points of the calendar don't have that many options left to do. (FWIW, only two years would be facing a third-time repeat for that week if done, and one of those [1981] will be closing out February instead; the other is 1988...albeit, those two previous airings of 3/12/88 were in 2012 and 2013.)

This week marks only the second time the VJs have played a chart from February 1986.
