They went with 2/2, thankfully the one that hasn't been done in eight years.

The long version of "Operator" followed by the long version of "Love Light In Flight". Oof.

Is 2/13 a new chart? I don't want to jump the gun like last time.

Is 2/13 a new chart? I don't want to jump the gun like last time. So they couldn't wait to throw on 1982... It is not new, but it's almost the same scenario as this week's 1985 - its one previous airing was in 2014 rather than 2013. The best choices for the week after would be either 1984 or 1986, with probably a tilt toward the latter as being more likely. It's been the longest ago since a show from 1984's period has been done (that being 10/29/83 on Hallo-weekend), but 84 also closed out 2020, and the other nine years will have all gone now since the last 1986 (12/6). Then again, 2/18/84 followed by 2/22/86 would be a worthwhile scenario, too...

By the time 1981, 1984, and 1987 are played, there will be few, if any, songs that we heard from 40, 37 and 34 years ago when 1980, 1983 and 1986 were played in 2020. Likely "Just Like Starting Over" will be from both 1980 and 1981.

One has to wonder, with Kenny Rogers being on the 1982 chart next week, if Alan's going to mention his mac & cheese again. He did it before "Coward Of The County" a few weeks ago and he did it again this week before the Chicago song.

The long version of "Operator" followed by the long version of "Love Light In Flight". Oof. I agree. Both songs being at their peak position this week certainly didn't help matters, either. It's beyond me why SXM-80s insists on playing the 12-inch long versions of those singles instead of the 7-inch single edits...

Yes it did make 1985 exactly a three hour show. I have noticed that the later the year the longer the show is. 1989 as I recall has never ended in less than three hours?

I felt that last week's 1989 show wasn't quite as bad in terms of length compared to other shows from that year. I think it ended a couple minutes shy of 3 hours, and the fact that "Two Hearts" is a rather short song helped that a bit.

I'll have to check my playlists at home, but I believe the average song length was longer in the latter half of the 1980s. It would even get longer into the 1990s. (Which warranted a bunch of edits in the CT40 shows, especially from 1992 onward.)

I know this is more for people my age, but David Glen Eisley, the lead singer of Giuffria, would go on to sing "Sweet Victory" from the Spongebob Squarepants episode "Band Geeks", and it's considered one of the best episodes in the cartoon's history.

Of Whitney's 7 #1s in a row, we entered 2021 with three of them - "Saving All My Love For You", "How Will I Know", and "So Emotional" - not having had any of their weeks at #1 yet played. Now, regardless of whether they do 2/15 or 2/22, the latter two will have gotten their turns in as many months. (Meanwhile, "The Greatest Love of All" and "Didn't We Almost Have it All" each have one week still outstanding, while "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" are both exhausted save for repeat outings.)
Any chance they can hit the trifecta and 10/26/85 gets done later on this year?
