OMG, not AT40 is playing a live version of Alright; not the hit! They've done that before. Once might be a mistake, but twice? How hard can it be to find the hit version? Otherwise, the 40 songs they're playing this week are the same ones heard five years ago in Premiere's inaugural 1980s AT40 presentation.

This week's actual AT40 is also from 1988, so they might be the same songs in the same order.

They never play the correct version of Smoky Mountain Rain, it's usually the live version. Nor do they ever play the correct version Cher's We All Sleep Alone from 1988, they always play her 1999 dance remix.

I think we should all write XM and tell them to make Jeff Michaels the permanent host! We'll at least hear the CORRECT versions of songs for the week we're hearing!

SXM 9 is said to soon be launching a new, similar countdown, the "Back in the Day Replay Countdown", which sounds like the same concept used for the 1990s, hosted by the main 90s on 9 DJ's (KT Harris and JoJo Morales.) Not sure yet how many songs it will include or what chart will be used.

It could go next week, too: I don't think 1982 is all that unlikely.

OMG, I think Casey lite just said Just Can't Win 'Em All was Stevie Woods only top 40. Not true. It wasn't even his biggest, that was Steal the Night , which not AT 40 has played before!

Next week's not AT40, as predicted 1989! Won't repeat Premiere! Thus, with Premiere playing 1971, we get the widest possible spread in years from Premiere and SXM's 70s and 80s countdowns (unless SXM does another pseudo-1970 "fill in for Casey" show.) And so ends the 80s "piggyback" pattern. This week's show used the Billboard chart of April 3, 1982; two years ago Premiere aired Casey's rendition of it.

It could go next week, too: I don't think 1982 is all that unlikely. This weekend's countdown is from 4/18/1987, so the piggybacking ended with this past weekend's show.

It looks like they're consistently going with Billboard now; this weekend's countdown was from the Hot 100 of April 15, 1989, and thus was counted down by Shadoe Stevens at the time.
For whatever reasons, unlike many earlier Billboard-based B40 countdowns, there haven't been any chart alterations or substitutions lately. Maybe some rights issue was worked out?
