Talk about added value to my Direc TV subscription! This is awesome, I just wish my DirecTivo could record the music channels. I have a DVR and it is recording them the 70's station just fine. The DIRECT TV branded Tivo recorders don't allow you to record the audio only channels (I think there may be a hack to allow it, I haven't had a desire to figure it out until now).

Jeffster, since when do YOU have XM? I thought you would never get it. ;D I got the 3-day free online preview. I'm on vacation, currently in San Antonio, though we leave for Corpus Christi tomorrow. I figured you'd be doing some recording so I might have a chance to acquire some shows from you later.

Alfred, If you want to update your list, the 70s show playing now is from July 28, 1979 -- FYI.

Just heard Pink Lady's "Kiss In The Dark" a few minutes ago. Anybody remember the awful variety show they had on NBC, "Pink Lady and Jeff" (with comedian Jeff Altman)? Possibly the worst tv show ever. Also fun to hear Bonnie Pointer impersonating Louis Armstrong at the end of her hit, "Heaven Must Have Sent You".

Is it just me, or did they just skip over the entire 2nd hour of the 7/28/79 show? We are suddenly in the high teens. I checked out the cue sheet and it looks like it was the 2nd hour.

I noticed on the early shows Casey does not mention the chart date at the end of the show. Does anyone know when he started mentioning the chart date?

It's now 5:14pm and I found out by listening to last weeks top 3 and #40(Never Knew Love-Stephanie Mills) that the Dec 13, 1980 show is being played. That was the one when Casey Kasem paid tribute to John Lennon who had been shot shortly before. I have this show and it's wonderful. The tribute plays just before "Just Like Starting Over"

Does anyone know whey the glitches are occuring? Is it the top 40 itself or is it XM? I hope they have them worked out by the time the show starts next week.

bdpop, On a regular basis, Casey began mentioning the chart date at the end of the show starting with the program dated July 14, 1973. Before that, I believe he gave the chart date only once. Does anyone know what show?

I sent them both versions.Do you remember if there was a question on posthumous hits between #38 Together and #37 He's So Shy? If so, it's the original. If not, then if they kept the discs straight, it's the replacement version.

Something that has puzzled me; according to Rob's book, the tapes of the shows that were produced bofore they switched to vinyl were supposed to be returned and reused. How is it that there are so many shows from this era still intact?

it's the original. They did the ? letter so now we'll have some suspense as to whether the replacement cut gets played at #4 ;-)
