My 23rd birthday! It was the only year my birthday was on a Saturday during the 1970s. Of more importance, it was the week that Elton John broke the streak of one week #1s with "Philadelphia Freedom." Interestingly, the streak of #1s began after "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" topped the chart for two weeks before the months of single week #1s.

1973 & 1978 are possibilities. Both years were featured by Premiere last week.

Were they supposed to play 1970 two weeks ago? I was thinking they had 1978 scheduled since that week’s “Wheel of Casey” show was from July 15, 1978, which would have fit that weekend, and somehow a mixup ended in a January 1977 being played instead on Saturday and Sunday.

ETA: If any of you get to hear Gordon Elliott's other guest-hosted program, 9/6/1980, he pronounced debut "da-boo". 😂 Reminds me of the time that Casey intentionally mispronounced "debut" on the week that "Da Butt" by E.U. debuted. |
