Us FoxOldies.com listeners heard the multi-chart versions of both the '79 Premiere 'A' show and this '74 show on this week's 'Fox 50 Flashback' countdowns.

While June 3, 1972 & June 5, 1976 shows are possibilities, I'll go with the show from June 7, 1975 for this weekend.

June 8-9, 2024: Now let’s go back to this week in 1979 - August Darnell - June 9, 1979 (guest host Bruce Philip Miller) Another Sirius XM curveball: playing a guest hosted show with no special reason to do so, which they've done a few times over the past year. This is a "new" one even to many regular Premiere and SXM listeners, and is one of two shows hosted by Miller (July 16, 1977 was the other.)

Definitely a curveball, would have been nice to not have any edits, but the Top Three recap is gone as is the Bill Haley Extra in the fourth hour. Still nice to get a rare show pulled out.

I didn't mind the Top 3 recap being left out (a suggestion for future 1979 airings) but I wish they would leave the edits to things like the opening or closing jingles and leave the talk and music segments alone.

I was very happy not to have to hear the top 3 recap. Actually wish Premiere would do the same.

Leaving out last week’s top 3 means that the first song was the Beach Boys’ “Good Timin’”, in its only week on AT40.
At the other end of the countdown is the Bee Gees’ “Love You Inside Out”, the group’s ninth and final #1, in its only (and arguably dubious) week on top.

Leaving out last week’s top 3 means that the first song was the Beach Boys’ “Good Timin’”, in its only week on AT40. While this song and the album it was from ('L.A. [Light Album]') were arguably at or near a low point for the band, with Brian Wilson in a precarious mental state and not really participating in the making of the album, and brother Dennis similarly 'out of it' due to substance abuse, the song "Good Timin'" has some classic BB vocal harmonies and is actually pretty good. The same album also has the notorious 'Beach Boys go disco' track "Here Comes the Night" on it, which was a 'disco-fied' rework of a 1967 "Wild Honey" track. It had been released in both 7" and 12" form earlier in '79 as the lead-off single, peaking at #44 in April '79. I actually have the 12-inch extended 'disco single' version of it.

The shows longest without play are now 1972 and 1975. Very recently, Sirius XM had done all nine eligible years without a repeat, but since then, it hasn't been a level playing field. Still way better than Premiere that seems to LOVE 1978,

Strange that Get Back (1969) by the Beatles was featured as an extra, while in the original show it was Paperback Writer (1966) (both former #1 hits during June of their respective years).
Update--Paperback Writer shifted to hour #3 , following Bridge Over Troubled water by Aretha Franklin (#10).
I would prefer that SiriusXM play the shows the way they were originally presented.

I found it strange that Casey mentioned that "Paperback Writer" was the #1 record of 5 years ago on this day on a 6-12-71 show. In fact, it didn't hit #1 until 6-25-66. Oooppps Casey.
