An Austrian extra: Hansi LangHansi Lang was born in Vienna-Hernals as the middle of three brothers on 1/13/1955. His father, Albert Hicks, was a US Army officer stationed in Vienna, while his mother, Emilie Lang, was born in Bohemia. Between 1958 and 1961 Hansi grew up with his family at the US Army base in LeOrme, France. In 1961 they moved back to Vienna, just in time for the start of school. At the age of 13 Hansi Lang played in his first amateur band with Harry "El Fisher" Fischer. The initial enthusiasm for drums was soon followed by a change to a singer. In 1980 Hansi Lang started his solo career with the debut album "Keine Angst" (No fear). Due to this success the second album "Der Taucher" (The diver) was released in 1982. In 1989 he recorded his album " Hansi Lang", produced by Peter Wuscits. A few weeks ago, on 8/24/2018, it was the tenth anniversary of Hansi Lang´s death.
Last Week I found a copy of "Der Taucher" on vinyl and bought it. I no longer have a record player, but I listened to some Songs from it ("Monte Video" and "Ich bleib' bei dir") on Youtube. It is shame, that he died from a Stroke in 2008 (as you mentioned).

[...] Around that time, Sandra Lauer (known simply as Sandra) was charting with her hit "Innocent Love" It peaked at #11 DE and # 14 CH (both in July of that year). www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXfbfscroFYThanks for mentioning "Sandra". I can remember that especially the Italians loved the sound of "Sandra", she climbed with "Innocent love" all the way up to #7. As you know "Sandra" was also a member of the trio "Arabesque" in the late 70s and early 80s. And this group gave us the single "Take me don´t break me", IMO still a good song to learn (and dance !) Rock ´n´ Roll. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvNAw--M9awHello.
It is interesting to know how successful Sandra has been in other Countries. Although I was not alive in that Year, I like several of her Songs. Along with "Innocent Love", I also like "(I'll Never Be) Maria Magdalena", "Loreen" and her version of "Everlasting Love", and some others.
"Take Me Don't Break Me" was interesting. It reminded me of classic rock n roll along with the Neue Deutsche Welle Sound reminiscent of Ina Deter, Nena, and others.

Hello.
Here is one that I've been working on. 20 Songs from the 1976 Episode.
August 21, 1976
20: YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE - CANDI STATON – This was a nice disco Song. For some reason, it reminded me of “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love” from Barry White as it led to the Chorus. 19: HEAVEN MUST BE MISSING AN ANGEL - TAVARES – Disco was of course big at this time and would be for the next few Years. This one would not sound out of place on “The Price Is Right”. #15 US, #38 DE. 18: I'M EASY - KEITH CARRADINE – The only hit for this Singer and actor. 17: AFTERNOON DELIGHT - STARLAND VOCAL BAND – Sounds refreshing! I noticed something interesting while watching the promo Video. At the beginning of the Song, the Guitarist plays like this: Downstroke, Upstroke, Downstroke; Downstroke, Downstroke. I just thought that it was cool to follow along. 16: SAY YOU LOVE ME - FLEETWOOD MAC – A nice Song that one can drive to. Although 1976 was their breakout year in the US in terms of big hits, I wonder how well known they were before then. They had already had a lot of success elsewhere, but “Over My Head” (along with its parent album) seemed to be their first big hit in the US. 15: LOVE IS ALIVE - GARY WRIGHT – Matching the success of his previous hit “Dream Weaver”, Gary Wright’s “Love Is Alive” peaked at #2. “Kiss And Say Goodbye” and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” prevented it from reaching the top. 14: BABY I LOVE YOUR WAY - PETER FRAMPTON – I first heard the version from “Will To Power”, which was a medley with “Freebird” from Lynyrd Skynyrd. 13: A FIFTH OF BEETHOVEN - WALTER MURPHY BAND – A disco version of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony (the first movement). #37 DE, #8 CH, #15, #1 US. 12: PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC - WILD CHERRY - #1 US (3 Weeks), #42 DE. 11: THIS MASQUERADE - GEORGE BENSON – It looks like this was his first Top 40 hit. I like several of his Songs. EXTRA: SPINNING WHEEL - BLOOD SWEAT & TEARS – A cool Song. One of three from them to reach #2. 10: TURN THE BEAT AROUND - VICKI SUE ROBINSON – I am not sure why I thought that this reached #1. Still, it did become a top ten Hit, peaking here. R.I.P. 9: GET CLOSER - SEALS AND CROFTS – This Song features Carolyn Willis, who was a member of the early 1970’s trio “Honey Cone”. Honey Cone’s biggest hit was “Want Ads”, which reached #1 in 1971. 8: KISS AND SAY GOODBYE - THE MANHATTANS – This does sound depressing. The vocals are beautiful nonetheless. 7: ROCK ‘N’ ROLL MUSIC - BEACH BOYS – I think that I mentioned in 2016 (?) that I thought that this Song was from another band. I think that that other Band was the Bay City Rollers. The few Songs from them that I know have a 1960s flavor to them. 6: SHAKE YOUR BOOTY - KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND – It seems like this tends to blend with “That’s The Way (I Like It)”. This is but only my opinion. 5: I'D REALLY LOVE TO SEE YOU TONIGHT - ENGLAND DAN & JOHN FORD COLEY – The first and biggest hit for these singer, who are both from Texas. This has been a long-time Favorite of mine. Sadly, “England Dan” Dan Seals died in 2009. 4: YOU'LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER LOVE LIKE MINE - LOU RAWLS – Almost a #1 hit, this soulful number became his biggest hit. 3: LET 'EM IN - WINGS – The follow-up to Billboard’s Song of the Year, “Silly Love Songs” #3 US, #29 DE. 2: YOU SHOULD BE DANCING - THE BEE GEES – Disco mania continues! They were enjoying a chart comeback after a few Years with little chart success (although they did have some top ten Hits in the UK). The comeback began with “Jive Talkin” in the Year before. For “You Should Be Dancing”, #1 US, #16 DE. 1: DON'T GO BREAKIN' MY HEART - ELTON JOHN & KIKI DEE – Excellent Duet, no doubt! #1 US, #5 DE, #4 CH, #8 AT.
My Extra:
DIE WELT IST VOLL LICHT – NANA MOUSKOURI – A cheerful tune from “The White Rose of Athens”.
I was a Leaf in the wind until now Since you’ve been around, I no longer feel cold.
The World is full of light Heaven is close And you are with me The Love is here The Flowers bloom beautifully Like I have never seen The World is full of light The Love is here
Luck and Glass, it breaks easily Love remains eternal
You need no Word(s) to understand me You feel like me, what can go wrong?
The World is full of light Heaven is close And you are with me The Love is here The Flowers bloom beautifully Like I have never seen The World is full of light The Love is here
Luck and Glass, it breaks easily Love remains eternal
Where you are, there alone. Remains my home, I want to be there.
The World is full of light Heaven is close And you are with me The Love is here The Flowers bloom beautifully Like I have never seen The World is full of light The Love is here
“Die Welt ist voll Licht”, from the album of the same name, reached #27 in Germany in August 1976. It also charted in Austria, reaching #18 there in September. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh_ydlnRPxI
Thank you for reading.

Hello.
Earlier in the Year I mentioned that I wanted to critique an Ep from Summer 1971. Although I missed the one from July, for which pb made a good Critique of, I have been working on one for this Month. It is not yet complete, but I will upload what I do have. I hope to complete it in the following Days.
August 14, 1971
40: SUMMER SAND – DAWN – Not quite as big of a hit as “Knock Three Times” or “Candida”, two of their previous hits. This Summer themed Song peaked at #33. 39: MOTHER FREEDOM - BREAD – This was a departure from their previous Hits, which were mostly soft rock Songs. 38: I'M LEAVIN’ - ELVIS PRESLEY – This had a haunting and, yet, depressing feel to it. 37: GO DOWN GAMBLING - BLOOD SWEAT & TEARS – One of their Songs appeared in the first Episode of American Top 40, however as an Extra. It seems that this was their final Top 40 Hit. 36: MIGHTY CLOUDS OF JOY - B.J. THOMAS – I like several of his Songs, and I enjoyed this one. #34 US, #26 CA 35: GET IT ON - CHASE – Sadly, this would be their only Top 40 hit. This is especially true, because several of the members were killed in a plane crash in 1974. 34: WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN - THE WHO – This was the only Song that I recognized from the first 1971 AT40 Ep. that I ever heard. 33: I DON'T WANNA DO WRONG - GLADYS KNIGHT & THE PIPS – The back-up Singers gave this one a gospel atmosphere. 32: HERE COMES THAT RAINY DAY FEELING AGAIN - THE FORTUNES – One thing that they have in common with The Carpenters: they do not like Mondays because they can be depressing. 31: IF NOT FOR YOU - OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN – Her first Top 40 Hit. It peaked at #25, but the best for her had yet to come. 30: MOONSHADOW - CAT STEVENS – This was his second Top 40 Hit. It peaked here. 29: YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND - ROBERTA FLACK & DONNY HATHAWAY – I forgot completely about their version of this Song. I am more familiar with the Version from James Taylor and Carole King (who wrote it). 28: DOUBLE BARREL - DAVE AND ANSELL COLLINS – A reggae number that sounds really like a novelty hit. This duo originated from Jamaica. 27: AIN'T NO SUNSHINE - BILL WITHERS – It seems that several artists on this Chart are having their first (or second) hit. This was the first for this Singer from the state West Virginia. 26: I JUST WANT TO CELEBRATE - RARE EARTH - #7 on the Hot 100 in September 1971 (I could be wrong about this date; I have not double-checked). Celebrate Life!!! 25: WHATCHA SEE IS WHATCHA GET - THE DRAMATICS - #9 on the Hot 100. Tina Turner says the opposite. 24: SOONER OR LATER -THE GRASS ROOTS – A fun Song to hear. I also like their hit “Temptation Eyes”. 23: DON'T PULL YOUR LOVE - HAMILTON, JOE FRANK & REYNOLDS – Have you been injured in the Game of Love, and left with a broken Heart? Were you not to blame? Call up Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds… I could not resist! The lead singer was Dan Hamilton, who died in 1994 at age 48. 22: MAYBE TOMORROW - JACKSON FIVE – This was a good song. The use of the Sitar (it may not be that, but it sounds like one) was nice. SPECIAL: I FEEL THE EARTH MOVE - CAROLE KING – I really love this Song! It makes me happy to hear it. This Song appears on the opposite side of the Single “It’s Too Late”, however that is a double A-sided Single. 21: SMILING FACES SOMETIMES - THE UNDISPUTED TRUTH – A similar message to “Backstabbers” 20: RIDERS ON THE STORM - THE DOORS – This Single was released not long before lead Singer Jim Morrison died on 3 July 1971. It was very spooky, with the sound of Thunder and Rain. 19: SPANISH HARLEM - ARETHA FRANKLIN - #2 in September 1971, with “Go Away Little Girl” keeping it from the top spot. Also #2 DE. R.I.P. Queen of Soul. 18: LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH - THE ISLEY BROTHERS – An R&B take on the Hit from Stephen Stills. It was great. SPECIAL: SUMMER IN THE CITY - LOVIN' SPÖNFUL - #1 in August 1966 for three Weeks. Overall, this Summer has not been so bad in this area, but it has been worse. On a serious note, my Condolences go to those who have been affected by the wildfires in California state and in Greece. 17: RINGS - CYMARRON – A nice soft rock Song, perhaps close to The Bellamy Brothers, although they are a Country duo. 16: HOT PANTS (PART #1) - JAMES BROWN - It is no doubt James Brown, however this Song reminds me of Charles Wright and the Watts 103rd Street Band. #1 R&B, #15 Hot 100, #21 DE. 15: SWEET HITCH-HIKER - CREEDANCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL – They were beginning to slow down in terms of having hits, but this legendary band from California reached #6 on the Hot 100 with this rocking Song. Also #6 DE and #1 CH (three Weeks). 14: LIAR - THREE DOG NIGHT – It’s hard for me to imagine an early AT40 Episode without Three Dog Night. 13: NEVER ENDING SONG OF LOVE – DELANEY & BONNIE & FRIENDS – Not a bad Song from this husband and wife Duo. 12: BRING THE BOYS HOME - FREDA PAYNE - Altogether, she had 3 Top 40 Hits, but the popularity of “Band Of Gold” from the previous Summer seems to push the others aside. This protest Song is one of the others. 11: IT'S TOO LATE - CAROLE KING – In this Chart, Ms. King is very influential. After writing or co-writing several big Hits in the 1960s, she finally has a huge hit as a Singer (a previous hit that she sang in 1962 reached #22). 10: SIGNS - FIVE MAN ELECTRICAL BAND - In their native Canada they had several hits, but this was their only top 10 in the US. 9: MERCY MERCY ME (THE ECOLOGY) - MARVIN GAYE - Great Song with a timeless message about environmental concerns. 8: WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS LOVE - TOM CLAY - As I remember, this was a jazz Version of these two previous hits wrapped into a novelty song. The various recordings on it, including the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy and the infamous “Mountaintop” Speech from Martin Luther King Jr., gives the Listener a glimpse back into those times. I must admit that I found the Malapropisms spoken by the child both funny and sad. 7: BEGINNINGS - CHICAGO - Written and sung by keyboardist Robert Lamm. Originally included on their first Album (Chicago Transit Authority from 1969), this Single was re-released after the Band had obtained some success with their 2nd Album “Chicago (II)”. This time, it peaks here. 6: INDIAN RESERVATION - THE RAIDERS - #1 US, #38 DE. An ode to the Cherokee Native American tribe. Earlier versions feature more stereotypical and perhaps offensive lyrics. This version is much milder. 5: YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND - JAMES TAYLOR - Now we get to hear J.T.'s Version. It descends the chart after spending a week at #1 (31 Jul.). James Taylor was one of the musicians who played on Carole King’s Album “Tapestry”. Likewise, Carole King played on J.T's album "Sweet Baby James". 4: DRAGGIN' THE LINE - TOMMY JAMES - The leader of The Shondells, who had a series of Hits in the 1960s. Now with his first solo Top 40 hit, it peaks here. 3: (TAKE ME HOME) COUNTRY ROADS - JOHN DENVER - This came close to reaching #1, but like this Week’s #2 Hit, it reached as high as the runner up position. 2: MR. BIG STUFF - JEAN KNIGHT – The only top 40 hit for this native of Louisiana. I am surprised that this was her only hit to reach the Top 40. 1: HOW CAN YOU MEND A BROKEN HEART- BEE GEES - #1 on the Hot 100 for four Weeks, all throughout August.
Thank you for reading.

Hello.
Here are 10 Songs, from an Episode that was played last Week.
August 10, 1974
10: TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD – RUFUS – Their first Hit and it reached #3. 9: WILDWOOD WEED - JIM STAFFORD – A Song of the time, it seems… 8: SIDESHOW - BLUE MAGIC – Long before Sideshow Bob was existing this Band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I liked the way it began, when the Presenter encouraged the people to “step right up”. 7: WATERLOO – ABBA - #3 SE, #1 DE, #1 CH, #6 US… and #1 in Eurovision Song Contest (24 Points)! 6: CALL ON ME – CHICAGO – This Song had a fast-paced jazz feel to it. I enjoyed it. When I listen to their earlier hits, especially from 1969, 1970, and 1971, I think that they were ahead of their time. 5: PLEASE COME TO BOSTON - DAVE LOGGINS – A cousin of singer Kenny Loggins, with a hit of his own. This soft rock/country message was his only hit, but it was nice. 4: DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME - ELTON JOHN – Yet another huge hit for this musical genius. It has a certain Autumnal feeling, as do some of his other Songs. 3: ANNIE'S SONG - JOHN DENVER – A sweet Song written for his then-Wife. #1 for two Weeks. This is the Song, which prevented the previous hit in the Countdown from reaching #1. 2: THE NIGHT CHICAGO DIED - PAPER LACE – 14 February 1929. The Year, that my Grandmother was born. For musical fans, some may say 23 January 1978. However, they later became alive again… #3 DE, #4 AT 1: FEEL LIKE MAKIN' LOVE - ROBERTA FLACK – A nice, moody Song that reminds me somewhat of “Midnight At The Oasis” from Maria Muldaur, which earlier that Year had been a hit.
Thank you for reading.

Hello. 1974 was known to be a Year which featured several Songs to reach #1 for a single Week. That trend, which happened mainly in the latter Half, lead into 1975. If an artist was hoping to have a #1 Hit, then this was an excellent time. There is much diversity in those Songs, and that does not include those that missed the top. Here is my half Critique now. June 21, 1975 20: I’LL PLAY FOR YOU - SEALS & CROFTS – Nice Song. It has the typical Sound of Seals and Crofts. 19: THE LAST FAREWELL – ROGER WHITTAKER – His only Hit in the US. He had more chart success elsewhere, including Germany, in which his biggest was “Albany” in 1982. “The Last Farewell” peaked here at #19 in the US, DE, and AT. 18: PHILADELPHIA FREEDOM – ELTON JOHN - #1 US, #50 DE. Unstoppable on the Charts! 17: OLD DAYS – CHICAGO – A fun nostalgic Song! Lyrically, I can compare it to the Song “Summer of 69” from Bryan Adams. However, that Song tends to make me feel somewhat depressed. I believe the Reason for this is, while “Old Days” is a fun look back at the Days gone by, “Summer of 69” seems to lament the loss of those days in a more serious fashion. Both Songs are nonetheless great. 16: THANK GOD I’M A COUNTRY BOY – JOHN DENVER - #1 on the Hot 100 at the beginning of June. 15: BAD LUCK (PART 1) – HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUE NOTES – A good R&B Song. This was co-written by Gene McFadden and John Whitehead (along with Victor Carstarphen), who in 1979 had the hit “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now”. 14: BAD TIME – GRAND FUNK – Bad all around! He did not find Love. Love found him. Good Song. 13: MAGIC – PILOT – Here is a Song that I always enjoy to hear. It is very engaging. #11 UK, #5 US. 12: ONLY WOMAN – ALICE COOPER – This is not the full song Title. Perhaps the full Title was not used for the single release, so that Listeners and DJs would not get a misunderstanding of the Song. 11: TAKE ME IN YOUR ARMS (ROCK ME A LITTLE WHILE) – THE DOOBIE BROTHERS – I got to see them earlier this year in Concert! The Weather was very cold outside, but inside the building the Energy was red hot! Everyone inside had a great time. There were Songs that I knew (“Black Water”, “China Grove”, “Long Train Runnin” and “Listen To The Music” to name a few) and those that I did not, but I enjoyed all of them. Band member Patrick Simmons had a case of Laryngitis, but it did not get him down at all. I sat on the upper level of the Auditorium, but the experience is unforgettable. As for this Song, it peaked here on the Hot 100. And now on with the Countdown! 10: CUT THE CAKE – THE AVERAGE WHITE BAND – Delicious! Despite the presence of lyrics, it seems to work mainly as a dance hit. 9: LISTEN TO WHAT THE MAN SAID – WINGS – This is an excellent fun Song! It can make one feel good! #1 US, #42 DE 8: GET DOWN, GET DOWN (GET ON THE FLOOR) – JOE SIMON – A enjoyable hit from this Singer, who is from Louisiana. A top ten hit on the Hot 100, and a #1 hit on the R&B Chart. 7: THE HUSTLE – VAN McCOY & THE SOUL CITY SYMPHONY - #1 on the Hot 100 in July 1975. A definite classic. Van McCoy, originally from Washington DC, US, sadly died as the result of a heart attack in 1979 at age 39. 6: SISTER GOLDEN HAIR – AMERICA – This was definitely influenced by music from the 1960s! 5: LOVE WON’T LET ME WAIT – MAJOR HARRIS – Peaking at #5 is the only Hit for this Singer from Richmond, Virginia. 4: I’M NOT LISA – JESSI COLTER – When the other does not know who you are, but you know who you are not. Her only Top 40 Hit, which peaked at #1 on the Country chart. 3: WILDFIRE - MICHAEL MURPHEY – A typical soft rock/ country Song of the time. I like it a lot; it really sounds new. Although I have only now found out that I have misheard the Lyric “We’re going to leave sodbusting behind” as “We’re going to leave South Boston behind”. 2: WHEN WILL I BE LOVED – LINDA RONSTADT – Peaked here at #2. One of many Remakes from her. 1: LOVE WILL KEEP US TOGETHER – THE CAPTAIN & TENNILLE – I could imagine Sonny and Cher recording this Song in the 1960s. The playful nature of the Words and Music reminds me of them (somewhat). It was recorded also in Spanish with the Title “Por Amor Viviremos”. My Extra: ADIOS – NANA MOUSKOURI – Good-bye is a little more like “Hello” on this Single.
“Adios, tonight my Ship leaves the harbour” “And for the first Time since we met” “Tears stand in your eyes” Because I will be leaving.”“Adios, we stand under the Lantern” “A thousand Stars are above us” “If the seas separate us,” “You will see them at Night.”
“Adios, our happiness is not over” “We will see each other again sometime” “If we believe in one-another,” “Nothing can happen to us.”
“Your Dreams will accompany me” “On all Paths, at all Times” “We are never alone” “My thoughts will be with you.” “Your Dreams will accompany me” “On all Paths, at all Times” “We are never alone” “My thoughts will be with you.” “And someday I will come home” “All your Dreams will come true.”“Adios, Music rings across from the distance” “And for the final time I hear the Songs” “That ring out from the Taverns” “When the Night begins.”
“Adios, I found my happiness here” “All the unforgotten Hours” “Live on in the Memory” “That no one can take from us.”
“Adios, I just cannot stay any longer” “I want to write to you every day” “Until we are here” “Again someday.”“Adios” was released as the second Single from her 1975 Album “Sieben Schwarze Rosen (Seven Black Roses)”, which reached #18 on the Album charts in Germany. The first was “Komm, komm, sag uns deinen Traum”. Somewhat of a Comeback for chart singles for Nana Mouskouri, whose previous Hit before 1975 was “Morgen ist der schönste Tag” in 1966, “Adios” entered the Charts in May of 1975 and peaked at #20 that year. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwnvjzM62YMThank you for reading.

Hello.
It has been some time since I was last here. I want to thank everyone here for the support that I have received after the events that happened earlier this Month. We have been accepting it one Day at a time, but there has been a sense of relief that my Sister is no longer suffering. Once again, I say, "Thank You."
This is a half-Critique, that I have been working on for the past Week. Still, there were many good Songs in the first half of the Ep.
May 26, 1973
20: DAISY A DAY - JUD STRUNK - His only Top 40 Hit. Eight Years later, he, along with another person, was killed in a plane crash. 19: STEAMROLLER BLUES – ELVIS PRESLEY - Blues at its finest. This Song was originally written and recorded by James Taylor. I listened to a Version that was recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. 18: THINKING OF YOU - LOGGINS & MESSINA - The follow up to their Hit "Your Mama Don't Dance". It is a rather interesting change from the former Song. 17: THE RIGHT THING TO DO - CARLY SIMON - A (possibly) lost hit from this Singer from NYC (I have never heard it). With a Carole King-like flavor to it, I enjoyed it! 16: THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT IN GEORGIA - VICKI LAWRENCE - And all in one Night, a Friendship is destroyed, Andy is dead, someone is imprisoned and executed for something that he did not do, and his Sister must live with what she did. Well, it perhaps did not happen all in one Night but... Whatever would happen, I am not sure if she would ever confess to it. 15: FUNKY WORM - OHIO PLAYERS - This Band, best known perhaps for their 1976 hit "Love Rollercoaster", makes their debut onto the Top 40 (they also had other hits, including another #1). Can you guess where they formed? 14: PLAYGROUND IN MY MIND - CLINT HOLMES - A few years ago, when I heard this Song on American Top 40, Casey Kasem told a story in which a young fan presented Mr. Holmes with a batch of Flowers that he believed by mistake to be for him. I do not remember correctly, but I believe the fan, a young girl, told him that they were intended for someone who sings on the Song. 13: STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YOU - STEALERS WHEEL - Until last year, I heard this on a Station near me all of the time. 12: I’M GONNA LOVE YOU JUST A BIT MORE BABY – BARRY WHITE - How many of his hit Songs began with a spoken-word portion? The Chorus is pleasant, although it ends too soon. Perhaps it could use one more Measure? This was his first hit. 11: REELING IN THE YEARS - STEELY DAN - Following up their debut Hit with another great Song. R.I.P. Walter Becker. 10: HOCUS POCUS - FOCUS - The only Top 40 for this Band from the Netherlands. #9 US, #12 NL (1971). 9: WILDFLOWER – SKYLARK - Another US one hit Wonder. They had a little more Success in their native land Canada. The Lyrics were based on a poem that was written by a Friend of band member David Foster, who was a Police Officer. 8: DRIFT AWAY - DOBIE GRAY - This Classic was his biggest hit. And it became once more a Hit when he re-recorded it with Uncle Kracker. 7: LITTLE WILLIE – THE SWEET - Their break-out Hit in the US. I guess that this was not controversial at the time. Anyway... #3 US, #4 UK, #1 DE (August 1972), #2 CH (August 1972). 6: PILLOW TALK – SYLVIA - Sensual Lyrics and Music make up this #1 R&B Hit. R.I.P. 5: YOU ARE THE SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE - STEVIE WONDER - #1 US, #42 DE. There is nothing like a little Wonder to brighten up the Day! 4: TIE A YELLOW RIBBON ROUND THE OLE OAK TREE – DAWN featuring TONY ORLANDO - They reached the top in the US with this playful tune with a slight somber nature to it. #1 US, #9 DE. 3: DANIEL - ELTON JOHN - This came very close to becoming a #1 hit for Sir Elton, but it reached only #2. Of course, he had already had one in the US, and would have others. Also #2 DE, #5 CH. 2: MY LOVE - PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS - This is the Song, that kept "Daniel" from reaching #1. I think that this was their first #1 Hit in the US (not including Paul's hits with The Beatles). #43 DE. 1: FRANKENSTEIN - THE EDGAR WINTER GROUP - I recall that in one Ep. of American Top 40 (possibly this one as I cannot remember), Casey Kasem gave a scary Intro to this Song. #1 US (one Week), #39 DE.
If we hear an Ep. from the late Summer or early Autumn of 1971, it will be interesting; there will be many Songs that I don't know, but I can challenge my Skills. Thank you for reading.

Liebe Freunde,
About two days ago, in the Chart Critiques section, I mentioned that my Family was enduring a crisis. I will talk about it now.
I had a Sister who, in a large portion of her life, had been sick from Diabetes. In her early 20s she was diagnosed with this disease. However, she fought it with the greatest strength and determination. Even when it flared up, she fought back to live another day.
The last Week, she was admitted into the Hospital because she was in pain. Her situation remained somewhat stable, until Sunday, when she took a turn for the worse. We felt that nothing more could be done, and on Thursday, we made a very hard decision to send her into Hospice. Although her condition was somewhat similar, it was very hard to see and hear her in so much pain. On Friday, when we visited, I had to leave the room after suffering a panic attack and crying. On Saturday morning, we were informed by the hospice Officials that she was going away. As they gave her Medicine to comfort her, all of us traveled there to surround her. She died peacefully, at around 12:00 in the Afternoon.
As I write this, I am filled with much sadness. On one hand, she is suffering no longer, and is finally at Peace. However, it all seems to be a dream from which I shall wake up. I know that it is real, but the reality has perhaps not caught up with me.
I want to thank those who sent to me their best Wishes and prayers. All have been supportive. I have told my Mother about the support that I have received from here.
Thank you,
Jamie

Hello. This has not been a good Week for me. We have been enduring a family-related emergency for a few Days. We must prepare for any outcome. I will talk more about it later. Update here: at40fg.proboards.com/thread/5467/sad-day-meThis is another old Critique, but here is 20 Songs. April 18, 1981 20: TAKE IT ON THE RUN – REO SPEEDWAGON - I remember first learning of this Song on a CD that I saw for sale in a Store. At that time, I knew only two Songs from them, so I was curious to know how this one would sound. Now, I hear it all the time! 19: DON’T STOP THE MUSIC – YARBROUGH & PEOPLES - Now with Puppets! "You don't really want to stop! No!" The only Top 40 hit from this Duo from Dallas, Texas. 18: LIVING INSIDE MYSELF – GINO VANELLI - By this time, he had placed already two Songs in the Top 40, and now this was his third (and last). Some of his later singles, such as "Black Cars", came close to breaking the Top 40, but not quite. Meanwhile, Gino Vannelli continued to have hits in Canada. EXTRA: TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY BABY – BOBBY VEE 17: 9 TO 5 – DOLLY PARTON - #1 U.S., #46 DE. She wrote this hit and sings it. 16: SOMEBODY’S KNOCKIN’ – TERRI GIBBS - The only Top 40 hit for this singer, who was blinded very early in life. 15: HELLO AGAIN – NEIL DIAMOND 14: CRYING – DON McLEAN 13: HER TOWN TOO – JAMES TAYLOR & J.D. SOUTHER 12: KEEP ON LOVING YOU – REO SPEEDWAGON - Their first #1 Billboard Hit, and first Top 40 hit. Two in one. Also #15 DE, #4 CH. 11: I CAN’T STAND IT – ERIC CLAPTON AND HIS BAND ARCHIVES: TICKET TO RIDE – THE BEATLES DISC #3 10: DON’T STAND SO CLOSE TO ME – THE POLICE - I don't know why, but when I really think about it, I find the lyrics creepy like the beginning of the Song. Anyway, it is still a good hit. #10 US, #23 DE. 9: THE BEST OF TIMES - STYX - Written by Dennis DeYoung. Little wonder, why it sounds like their earlier Hit, "Babe". #3 US, #52 DE. 8: BEING WITH YOU – SMOKEY ROBINSON - #2 in the US, May 1981. Soothing and dreamy. 7: WHILE YOU SEE A CHANCE – STEVE WINWOOD - Similar to Howard Jones, his Songs (or if we shall go by his hits) are rather optimisic. LDD: FEELS SO GOOD – CHUCK MANGIONE 6: ANGEL OF THE MORNING – JUICE NEWTON - Her Version of this 1960s hit landed at #4. Also charting in Germany (#23) and Switzerland (#4), it was one of two Singles from her to chart there (the other was "Queen Of Hearts"). It seems that the single Version features an earlier fade out than that on the Album. 5: WOMAN – JOHN LENNON - #2 in the US (sadly posthumously), but it did reach #1 in the United Kingdom (similar to "Just Like Starting Over"). #4 DE, #2 CH. 4: JUST THE TWO OF US – GROVER WASHINGTON JR. (WITH BILL WITHERS) - Bill provides the vocals, and Grover plays the Sax. It is alltogether an excellent Song. 3: MORNING TRAIN – SHEENA EASTON - 2: RAPTURE - BLONDIE 1: KISS ON MY LIST – DARYL HALL & JOHN OATES My Extra: BIRDS OF PARADISE - PETER, SUE AND MARC - This was one of three Hits that this Swiss trio charted with in Germany. It reached #9 in CH (November 1980) and #29 in DE (August 1981). This Critique is not yet complete. I will try my best to complete it as my spirits allow. Thank you for reading. R.I.P. Don Bustany

It has been a while since I last posted in this Section, but I have a Question about the optional extra Predictions. Is there a certain method used to make the predictions? I know that one may be chosen if something significant happened recently to the Artist (such as death). However, is there more to it all? Also, sometimes it seems that at least one choice is a given. For example, on the 1980 Episode, many have chosen "Biggest Part Of Me" as one Song. Despite having never offered a prediction (I really don't care, happy with whatever comes up), I know that popular guesses always include whatever song debuted the highest on the 'Hot 100' that week (outside of songs that debuted inside the 40, of course), along with songs that would enter the 40 the following week. Thank you mga707 and Hervard.
