Hello. Here is the second Critique that I want to upload. May 15, 1971 40: BATTLE HYMN OF LT. CALLEY - C COMPANY FEATURING TERRY NELSON – Starting out the Top 40 with a novelty Song. Very much of its time, it is about Lt. William Calley and the My Lai killings during the Vietnam War. Last Year, I saw on the Television a program about the Vietnam War, and the killings were discussed. 39: THE DRUM - BOBBY SHERMAN – A playful Song, that was his last Top 40 (#29). 38: BABY LET ME KISS YOU - KING FLOYD – A more funky follow-up to “Groove Me”, but less of a hit. Speaking of “Groove Me”, I can tell that it was recorded at the same session as “Mr. Big Stuff” from Jean Knight. ARCHIVE: MOTHER-IN-LAW - ERNIE K-DOE - #1 for one Week 10 Years earlier. Fred Flintstone sings this Song about Wilma’s mother. 37: BOOTY BUTT - RAY CHARLES – An interesting Instrumental despite such a strange Title. It does feature some vocals toward the end 36: ME AND MY ARROW - NILSSON – Before I learned a few Years ago that Arrow is a Dog, the best that I could do was imagine Cupid flying around with his own Arrow. 35: COOL-AID - PAUL HUMPHREY & THE COOL-AID CHEMISTS – A true Instrumental. This uptempo soul number was his/their only Top 40 Hit. 34: WOODSTOCK - MATTHEW'S SOUTHERN COMFORT – A good Tribute to the Festival of Peace, Love, and Music. 33: I'LL MEET YOU HALFWAY - THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY - #9 on the Hot 100. They had previously hit #1 with their Song “I Think I Love You”. 32: DON'T KNOCK MY LOVE (PART #1) - WILSON PICKETT – Part one on the A-Side, Part two on the B-side. 31: REACH OUT I'LL BE THERE - DIANA ROSS – Her solo Career had only begun, but it had already shown great promise. After a big #1 Hit, this remake of the Hit from The Four Tops peaked at #29. But remember- more was to come! 30: TREAT HER LIKE A LADY - CORNELIUS BROTHERS & SISTER ROSE – Good Song! Somewhat unusual for this Song is a lack of string of string Instruments. Also, the lead Guitar seems to submit to the bass. 29: (FOR GOD'S SAKE) GIVE MORE POWER TO THE PEOPLE - CHI-LITES – They had a Song to appear in the 1972 Episode. And they are also here, with a political Message. 28: ONE TOKE OVER THE LINE - BREWER & SHIPLEY - #10 on the Hot 100. It is definitely of the era. 27: RIGHT ON THE TIP OF MY TONGUE - BRENDA & THE TABULATIONS – The second of two Top 40 Hits for them. Their first (and the bigger of the two) was from 1967. 26: TOAST AND MARMALADE FOR TEA - TIN TIN – Produced by Maurice Gibb. This sounds much like The Beatles (with John Lennon singing). Two members of this group later wrote more successful Songs performed by other artists, including “Too Much, Too Little, Too Late” from Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams and “Physical” from Olivia Newton-John. 25: I DON'T KNOW HOW TO LOVE HIM - HELEN REDDY – From Jesus Christ Superstar; I’ve heard a lot of this Rock Opera, but I’ve never seen it. the first Version was recorded by Yvonne Elliman. However, Reddy’s Version, from Capitol Records, was the first to be released as a Single. Reddy peaked at #13, Elliman at #28. 24: SUPERSTAR - MURRAY HEAD WITH TRINIDAD SINGERS – And another Song from Jesus Christ Superstar. I like how the orchestral Beginning lead into an upbeat Song. Released in 1969, the Single did not initially chart high, but more that a Year later, it re-entered the Hot 100 and peaked at #14 on 29 May of 1971. Murray Head is also known for his hit “One Night In Bangkok”. 23: JUST MY IMAGINATION (RUNNING AWAY WITH ME) - THE TEMPTATIONS – Falling on the Chart is one of four #1 Hits for this Band from Detroit, Michigan. Eddie Kendricks provides an excellent lead. 22: I LOVE YOU FOR ALL SEASONS - THE FUZZ – No, it is not the Police. The only Hit for this all-female Trio. 21: WE CAN WORK IT OUT - STEVIE WONDER – Stevie did an excellent job with this Remake of this Beatles hit. It is definitely among my favorites on the Chart! 20: ANOTHER DAY - PAUL McCARTNEY – Was this his first solo Hit? With the Beatles, you never know. #5 US, #6 DE, #7 CH, and to help the Order to be broken, #2 UK. 19: TIMOTHY - THE BUOYS – This tale of the cannibalistic actions of two coal-miners against the title character was banned on many radio stations-just as it was intended to be. The Buoys went to #17 with this Song, which was written by Rupert Holmes. 18: I DON'T BLAME YOU AT ALL - SMOKEY ROBINSON & THE MIRACLES – It sounds upbeat and little playful, but if one does not pay attention to the Text, the message of the Song will be missed. Their final hit before Smokey left for a solo career. 17: HERE COMES THE SUN - RICHIE HAVENS – Another Beatles remake in the countdown! Although they had recently disbanded, their presence remains strong! I could imagine hearing this Version, in a Movie about a family in the 1920s or 1930s. 16: WHAT'S GOING ON - MARVIN GAYE – A Song with a timeless message. #2 on the Hot 100. SPECIAL: RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES - CROSBY STILLS, NASH & YOUNG – The only contemporary Album on which I could find this Song was their live issue “4 Way Street”. If it appeared on another, please let me know. RANDOM EXTRA: TEMPTATION EYES – THE GRASS ROOTS – Yes, this Song was not in the Top 40 at this point, and was not one of the Songs included as an Extra in the original 1971 Broadcast. But I had to include it, because I thought that it made a nice addition to this list! It reached #15 on the Charts. 15: POWER TO THE PEOPLE - JOHN LENNON & THE PLASTIC ONO BAND - #11 US, #7 DE, #5 CH. 14: SWEET AND INNOCENT - DONNY OSMOND – His first solo Hit, peaked at #7. 13: IT DON'T COME EASY - RINGO STARR – It starts out like a Boston song, but breaks out into the familiar Beatles sound from Ringo and George Harrison. #4 US, #5 DE & CH. 12: WANT ADS - THE HONEY CONE – Definitely a favorite! #1 in June 1971. 11: LOVE HER MADLY - THE DOORS – I don’t know a lot about The Doors, though I do hear some of their 1960s Hits on the Radio. This one peaked here at #11. 10: CHICK-A-BOOM (DON’T YA JES’ LOVE IT) - DADDY DEWDROP – The only Top 40 Hit for this singer from Cleveland, Ohio. ARCHIVE: MONDAY MONDAY - THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS - #1 for three Weeks on the Hot 100 in May 1966. Also #2 DE and AT. It seems that many people do not like Mondays. The Mamas and the Papas, The Bangles, and (with no comparison at all, and a very tragic Example) a teenage Girl. 9: I AM, I SAID - NEIL DIAMOND – It sounds like he misses his Home, and yet, he cannot return. 8: STAY AWHILE - THE BELLS – This Song was the primary Reason why I listed “Temptation Eyes”. I don’t know why, but it feels to me like a great sibling to the upbeat nature of the other one. I always like to hear this one on a rainy night, because it suits the mood. “Stay Awhile” does not seem to be played on the Radio much anymore. However, because it reached #1 in Canada, I am sure that it receives more airplay there. A great Song to hear indeed! 7: BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER - ARETHA FRANKLIN 6: BROWN SUGAR - THE ROLLING STONES – A hard rocker with lyrics about an abusive slave owner. I guess that only the Rolling Stones could do that. #1 US, #4 DE, #1 CH (one Week; 6 June 1971) 5: ME AND YOU AND A DOG NAMED BOO - LOBO – A good song to sing along to. #5 US, #15 DE. 4: IF - BREAD – Sentimental Ballad in the normal David Gates style. 3: PUT YOUR HAND IN THE HAND - OCEAN – When I heard an Episode in 2011, I thought that the Title was “Put Your Hand In My Hand”. This religious Song reached #2 US, #13 DE, and #4 CH. It reached #10 in Canada. 2: NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE - THE JACKSON FIVE – Good, laid-back R&B hit. 1: JOY TO THE WORLD - THREE DOG NIGHT - #1 US for six Weeks, #17 DE. A definite Classic designed to put one in a good mood. And it works for me! My Extra: UN BANC, UN ARBRE, UNE RUE – SEVERINE – Born in 1948, Josiane Grizeau originally planned to be a language Teacher. After singing in different Bands in her teen years, she released her first Single in 1967 under the name “Céline”. Two Years later she took a new Pseudonym: Severine. Already she had scored some success with recordings used in Films afterwards, but her big breakthrough would come in 1971. She recorded a Song about following dreams after the loss of childhood. Written by Yves Dessca and Jean-Pierre Bourtayre. As with my last Critique, I used a Translation to help: “On a tous un banc, un arbre une rue Où l'on a bercé nos rêves On a tous un banc, un arbre une rue Une enfance trop brève”
We each have a Bench, a Tree, a Street In which we cherished our Dreams We each have a Bench, a Tree, a Street A Childhood that is too short"With “Un banc, un arbre, une rue”, Severine represented Monaco in the Eurovision Contest of 1971. With 128 Points scored, it would be that year’s winner. It also charted in Germany at #23 and Switzerland at #5. Somewhat unusually, it managed to break into the charts in the United Kingdom, reaching #9 there. “Un banc…” was translated into several Languages including English and German, with the latter version also charting. These do not include Versions recorded by other artists. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBXuPs7scZowww.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ8V7-oS6ykwww.youtube.com/watch?v=W1tSXCssXcQThis shall be it for me in May. I had wanted to do perhaps two more Critiques from the last Month, but I did not have enough time. Any future Critiques that I make this month will be in June. Thank you. Bis bald!

Greetings Here is one of two Critiques that over the next few Days I will upload. One will be from the Year, that is listed on the second of bobbo428's recent Critique. The other follows now, and will be from the Year after. I had planned originally to include only 20 Songs, but I had to extend it. The Reason: there are so many good Songs in the first half! May 6, 1972 40: DIARY – BREAD – What a heartbreaking Song. This could definitely make tears flow. 39: EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE – BOBBY VINTON – A #24 Hot 100 hit for him. 38: MISTER CAN’T YOU SEE – BUFFY SAINTE-MARIE – A pleasant upbeat Song, the only Top 40 Hit for this Singer who originates from Saskatchewan, Canada. It reminds me a bit of the Song “Jeder Weg hat mal ein Ende” from Marianne Rosenberg. 37: SYLVIA’S MOTHER – DR. HOOK AND THE MEDICINE SHOW – Another very melancholy Song, written by Shel Silverstein. #5 US, #9 DE, #3 CH. In Germany and Switzerland it charted later in the Year. 36: WALKIN’ IN THE RAIN WITH THE ONE I LOVE – THE DRAMATICS – The first Minute sounds very sensual. The spoken parts are definitely a sign that Barry White wrote it. Actually, is that him playing the part as her lover? 35: YOU COULD HAVE BEEN A LADY – APRIL WINE – This hit for the band from Canada was recorded first by the British band Hot Chocolate. 34: NICE TO BE WITH YOU – GALLERY - Simple tune, that is pleasant at the same time. #4 US, #28. 33: HELP ME MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT – GLADYS KNIGHT & THE PIPS – It feels like the Music is on the edge of breaking out into a , but struggles to maintain its reserved sound. For the lyrics, which Gladys delivers with much Emotion, it seems to involve something besides romance. Perhaps the future is generally unclear? She seems to be asking for some kind of Strength, that she doesn’t know. 32: ROUNDABOUT – YES – Excellent rock staple from this group from England. 31: I SAW THE LIGHT – TODD RUNDGREN – R&B-flavored pop number, which would be his second Hot 100 Hit. 30: JUMP INTO THE FIRE – HARRY NILSSON – I do not know if they ever played the full album Version of this, but the Bass played in the bridge is absolutely killer! Actually, the single Version may include that section; I can’t remember. #27 US, #34 DE. 29: TAXI – HARRY CHAPIN – One of his story Songs, that makes you want to continue listening. An engaging one about two former lovers, from this Singer, who died much too soon. 28: (LAST NIGHT) I DIDN’T GET TO SLEEP AT ALL – THE 5th DIMENSION – Not even Medication for sleeping could help her… A nice Song, that reached #8 on the Hot 100. 27: RUN, RUN, RUN – JO JO GUNNE – Classic rock hit that sounds like “Lido Shuffle”, a Song from singer Boz Scaggs that was released a few Years later. This band was itself named after a Song from Chuck Berry. 26: LITTLE BITTY PRETTY ONE – THE JACKSON 5 – A cool remake of the Song that was written in the 1950s. 25: ME AND JULIO DOWN BY THE SCHOOLYARD – PAUL SIMON – The follow-up to his hit “Mother And Child Reunion”. Let your Imagination take you away… 24: CANDY MAN – SAMMY DAVIS JR. – Pretty sweet Song, even if the Rat Pack member did not like it much. It climbed to #1 in June 1972. 23: TUMBLING DICE – THE ROLLING STONES – An edgy Single from the legendary band, like a good amount of their music. Musically engaging throughout. #7 US, #17 DE. 22: HEART OF GOLD – NEIL YOUNG - His second Top 40 hit as a solo Singer. Excellent Song all throughout. #1 US and CA, #6 DE. 21: PUPPY LOVE – DONNY OSMOND - #3 on the Hot 100. Remake of a Paul Anka hit. 20: SLIPPIN’ INTO DARKNESS – WAR – Their third Top 40 hit, it peaked at #16. 19: MORNING HAS BROKEN – CAT STEVENS – I have been hearing his Version lately on the Radio, although I am more familiar with Nana Mouskouri’s version from around the same time. Both are very enjoyable. #6 US, #37 DE. 18: SUAVECITO – MALO – Relaxing Latin-tinged number. The only hit for this band from California, in which Jorge Santana (Brother of Carlos Santana) was a member. Smooth! 17: HOT ROD LINCOLN – COMMANDER CODY & HIS LOST PLANET AIRMEN – Perhaps he should take that car onto the Autobahn… 16: A COWBOY’S WORK IS NEVER DONE – SONNY & CHER – Their final Top 10 hit, reaching #8 US. #48 DE. 15: IN THE RAIN – THE DRAMATICS – Our second outing into the Rain within two Hours. 14: BABY BLUE – BADFINGER – The last of their four Top 40 Hits. #14 US, #30 DE. 13: CASTLES IN THE AIR – DON McLEAN – While not as big a hit as the 8-Minute “American Pie”, this one is just as enjoyable. From his Album “Tapestry”, released in 1970. 12: THE FAMILY OF MAN – THREE DOG NIGHT - #12 US, #38 DE. One of those Bands, that I associate with the early 1970s, especially for American Top 40. 11: OH GIRL – THE CHI-LITES – Sad but beautiful Soul number from this Chicago-formed band. On the way to #1. 10: BACK OFF BOOGALOO – RINGO STARR - #9 US, #12 DE, #8 CH. 9: LOOK WHAT YOU DONE FOR ME – AL GREEN – His third Top 40 hit. It peaked at #4. 8: DOCTOR MY EYES – JACKSON BROWNE – A great start from one of the most respected singers in the Industry (as I seem to recall Casey Kasem saying in a later Episode)! 7: I’LL TAKE YOU THERE – THE STAPLE SINGERS – Oh I definitely love this one! 6: A HORSE WITH NO NAME – AMERICA – Memories of GTA: San Andreas, wandering around Angel Pine, the Back o’Beyond, and ascending Mount Chiliad! But long before it was released (and when Videogames were themselves in their Infancy), a #1 Hot 100 hit for this Band formed in England. 5: DAY DREAMING – ARETHA FRANKLIN – What a Day for a day dream – what a Day for a… No, it is not that Song. 4: ROCKIN’ ROBIN – MICHAEL JACKSON – It definitely calls for the Springtime. #2 for Michael. 3: BETCHA BY GOLLY WOW – THE STYLISTICS – A great R&B Hit for this Band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 2: I GOTCHA – JOE TEX - It so much sounds like James Brown but he did not write it. 1: THE FIRST TIME EVER I SAW YOUR FACE – ROBERTA FLACK – The real breakout hit for this great Singer from North Carolina. Although not her first Top 40 Hit (that was You’ve Got A Friend with Donny Hathaway), this one remained for six Weeks at the top. My Extra: APRÈS TOI – VICKY LEANDROS – From the Greek Island of Korfu comes this-then 23-year-old (depending on the source). She is part of a musical family; her Father, Leo Leandros, had also been in the 1950s and 1960s successful in Greece and in Germany. She came with her Family to Germany in 1958, and beginning in the 1960s racked up a number of successful hit Songs. The trend continued into the 1970s with one of them being this, her second representation at the Eurovision Song Contest. The Singer speaks of the sadness she will feel because her lover has found another: A Translation was used to help me with the French, but this still may not be completely correct.
“Qu’apres toi, je ne pourrai plus vivre” “Non, plus vivre qu’en souvenir de toi” “Apres toi, j’aurai les yeux humides” “Les mains vides, le coeur sans joie” “Avec toi, j’avais appris a rire” “Et mes rires, ne viennent que par toi” “Apres toi, je ne serai que l’ombre” “De ton ombre, après toi”
“(That) after you, I will not be able to live” “Not to live, just by remembering you” “After you, my Eyes will have Tears” “My Hands empty, a Heart without joy” “With you, I learned to laugh” “And my happiness came from you” “After you, I will be only a Shadow” “Of your Shadow, after you”Vicky represented Luxembourg with “Après toi” at the 1972 Contest, which in that year took place in the UK. It would be that Year’s winner, with 128 Points scored. Also performing well on the music Charts, it spent seven long Weeks at #1 in Switzerland and reached #11 in Germany. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ka89ORFu_Tc – From the Contest in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cd8vbRaHBuw – Studio Version. Thank you for reading.

Hello. Before I begin, I want to thank Hervard for allowing me to copy the list on my following Critique from his. This one is from a past Episode, and some may say that it is from a Year, that is between a rock and a hard place. May 3, 1980 20: THINK ABOUT ME – FLEETWOOD MAC – Their fourth Single from the Album “Tusk”. It would not sound out of place for 1982 or 1983. 19: BREAKDOWN DEAD AHEAD – BOZ SCAGGS – The fourth Top 40 hit for this singer born in Ohio makes for a great traveling Song! 18: CARS – GARY NUMAN – With a comfortable mix of Disco and New Wave, Numan scores his only Hit on the Hot 100 (within the 100). 17: I CAN’T HELP IT – ANDY GIBB & OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN – Olivia does great with duets, including this one with Andy. 16: WORKING MY WAY BACK TO YOU / FORGIVE ME GIRL – THE SPINNERS – Good disco remake of a 1960s hit from The Four Seasons and a (I believe) lesser known Song from Michael Zager. The two could pass easily as one single Song. 15: HURT SO BAD – LINDA RONSTADT – A remake of a 1960s hit from the group Little Anthony and The Imperials. Linda takes this to #8 on the Hot 100! 14: BIGGEST PART OF ME – AMBROSIA – This blue eyed soul Song reached #3. I wonder if the Songwriter or writers took some inspiration from Gospel music when writing it? EXTRA: BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY – THE FOUR SEASONS – This Song reached #1 in November 1962. 13: PILOT OF THE AIRWAVES – CHARLIE DORE – A folk rock hit for this singer from England. I think that many of us have had such a feeling, when things aren’t going good, and the Radio seems our only Friend. 12: SPECIAL LADY – RAY, GOODMAN & BROWN – They sounded like they were having fun and working hard while in the Studio. Nice atmospheric hit. ARCHIVES: TRAGEDY – THE BEE GEES – #1 for two Weeks in March 1979. OPTIONAL EXTRA: COMING UP (LIVE AT GLASGOW) - PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS – On its way to #1 that’s “Coming Up” from Paul McCartney and Wings, a classic American Top 40 Extra from 1980. Don’t I sound like Larry Morgan? This song was originally recorded only by McCartney (whose Version I must say sounds like a novelty Song). The live version appeared on the B-Side. 11: DON’T FALL IN LOVE WITH A DREAMER – KENNY ROGERS WITH KIM CARNES – Their first of two appearances together to land on the Top 40. Their second was “What About Me?” with James Ingram in 1984. 10: HOLD ON TO MY LOVE – JIMMY RUFFIN – A great song that peaked here at #10! 9: SEXY EYES – DR. HOOK – If it makes sense, this reminds me slightly of the Song “Kiss You All Over”, a soft rock song from the late 1970s that reached #1. 8: I CAN’T TELL YOU WHY – THE EAGLES – Before I listened to the lead vocalist closer, I thought that it was Don Henley. 7: YOU MAY BE RIGHT – BILLY JOEL – I wonder if Bedford Stuyvesant is as dangerous now as Billy Joel says in the late 1970s? A good Song anyway, that has a slight Rolling Stones sound to it. 6: FIRE LAKE – BOB SEGER – The theme of this Song reminds me of “Heartache Tonight” by the Eagles, which had been a #1 Hit in the Autumn of 1979. LDD: THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME – GLADYS KNIGHT & THE PIPS – A nice Song to be sent as an audible Postcard to someone! 5: ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL – PINK FLOYD – #1 US, DE, and CH. It is the second part, out of three, of an 8- minute long rock opera from their Album “The Wall” In the full version of the Song, a group of children began to rebel against their teacher (or Headmaster?), who warn them that they will not be able to have dessert if they do not eat their meat. 4: WITH YOU I’M BORN AGAIN – BILLY PRESTON & SYREETA – Such an orchestral beginning, but with Billy Preston, I’ve learned to expect anything. R.I.P. to both artists. 3: LOST IN LOVE – AIR SUPPLY – Absolutely a brilliant Song. The background vocalists provide a perfect lead-in to the Chorus. OPTIONAL EXTRA: LITTLE JEANNIE - ELTON JOHN – It will peak at #3 in July 1980. It is one of my favorites from him. 2: RIDE LIKE THE WIND – CHRISTOPHER CROSS – He sails on to the runner-up position with this energetic smash! Michael McDonald is heard singing in the background. 1: CALL ME – BLONDIE – You cannot have Spring 1980 without this worldwide Classic! #1 US (six Weeks), #14 DE, #3 CH, #5 AT. My Extras: BOAT ON THE RIVER – STYX – This tune will not take you to the Underworld, but away to a peaceful place where worries do not exist. The lyrics were written by Tommy Shaw, who provides the Vocals and plays the mandolin heard throughout: “Oh, the river is wide” “The River, it touches my life, like the waves on the Sand.” “And all roads lead to Tranquility Base” “Where the frown on my Face disappears.”“Boat On The River” was released from their 1979 Album “Cornerstone”. It peaked at #5 DE, #1 CH (7 Weeks), and #2 AT. www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9Qs8-BkiLwCINEMA – PAOLA – From her Album “Lieder, die ich liebe (Songs that I love)”. Written by Peter Reber and Véronique Mueller is this playful Homage to the big screen of yesteryear. One Version was recorded in French, and another in German (dt. text by Rolf Zuckowski).
“Like a Star, that awakens” “And a Fairy-tale full of Musik” “You are just a child” “From the big dream factory” “Since pictures learned to run (move)” “The world has followed you” “And in the brightness of your (movie) Stars” “The sea of Stars will fade away”
“Cinema, cinema, our colorful movie world” “Cinema, cinema, each person dreams what they like” “And we’ll fly to the Stars” “Or Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” “Cinema, cinema, if one lets us dream”
“Cinema, cinema, your Face is never the same” “Cinema, cinema, poor today and rich tomorrow” “Yesterday just an Easy Rider” “Between Freedom and danger” “Cinema, cinema, and soon to be a Superstar.”
“When you want Cinema,” “Fred Astaire will dance once again” “Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton” “Whom we loved as a Child” “They are as old as yourself” “And remain young because you exist”Paola (born Paola del Medico and later Paola Felix, after her marriage to Kurt Felix (1941-2012) represented Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest of 1980 with “Cinema”. Her second appearance in the Contest, it took 4th place with 104 Points scored. It also charted on the Swiss Charts, peaking at #7 in May of 1980. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hT_ArM0Pt5Y – French lyrics, from the Contest. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMau53nGw6U – German lyrics Thank you for reading.

For the week ending March 26, 1988: Yes, for the second time this month, I'm doing a once-in-a-blue moon critique, and only my second one ever for 1988. But there are several great songs on this countdown I just got to comment on. So here I go. 6. I Get Weak/Belinda Carlisle---Back in early 1988, I bought my first portable stereo headset radio (not a Walkman, another brand). It was like a fantastic new audio world opened up for me. Music on the radio just sounded so much more rich and dynamic on my headset. One of the first songs that I developed a new appreciation for as a result of hearing it on my headset was this song. I noticed the sharp synth arrangement, but I especially noticed Ms. Carlisle's dynamic, vulnerable vocals. The chorus is especially intriguing. I love how she subtly flattens the note halfway through the extended "I-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-"; then she assertively belts out "get weak" in a tension-and-release style. In fact, the whole song is full of stirring drama and tension. The lyrics are intriguing, as well. She essentially declares herself powerless to the charms of the man she loves. This song, to me, gives off a powerful message for men everywhere to treat their women with love, tenderness, and respect, especially if they show their vulnerable side. And my favorite song of the week: "I Get Weak" (not week) I look forward always to reading your Critiques, slf.
I also like "I Get Weak".

Here's a repeat of my review of March 23, 1974 (this weekend's 70's "B" show) from 2016. 9: ERES TU (TOUCH ME WIND) - MOCEDADES - Now forgotten, melodic tune with Spanish singing. "Eres tu" won second place (125 Points) in the Eurovision Song Contest of 1973 (Spain's entry).

Hello. My Critique of the recent 1972 Episode. Most of it is the same as my Critique from one Week earlier, which I made last Year. Some things are different however. March 18, 1972 20: AMERICAN PIE (PARTS 1 AND 2) - DON McLEAN – A #1 hit for this singer from New York. Also #9 DE. Perhaps one of the longest hit songs (when one listens to the entire Song). 19: DON'T SAY YOU DON'T REMEMBER - BEVERLY BREMERS - It has a 1950s or 1960s Sound to it, somewhat different from the early 1970s. 18: ROCK AND ROLL LULLABY - B.J. THOMAS – The 12th Top 40 hit for him. His biggest hit was “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head”. 17: IN THE RAIN - DRAMATICS – Upon seeing the Title, I confused this Song with a similarly-titled one from the trio Love Unlimited. This was the biggest charting Single for this group, peaking at #5 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the R&B Chart. 16: SWEET SEASONS - CAROLE KING – A bright yellow Sun on a July day. Brown leaves falling like raindrops from the Sky in October. A silvery-white landscape fed by snow in December. Flowers blooming together, filling the environment with different colors in May. I’m talking about the Sweet Seasons! 15: JOY - APOLLO 100 - Now it is the time for some classical Music. It is brought to us by Bach, through Tom Parker and friends. 14: I GOTCHA' - JOE TEX - It so much sounds like James Brown but he did not write it. 13: GET IT ON - T.REX - Good Song. Sadly, Lead singer Marc Bolan was killed in a car accident in 1977. 12: HURTING EACH OTHER - THE CARPENTERS - One of several Songs from them to peak at #2. However it did peak at #1 on the Easy Listening Chart. 11: JUNGLE FEVER - CHAKACHAS - Peaked at #8 on the Hot 100. 10: DOWN BY THE LAZY RIVER – THE OSMONDS - I wonder who the lead Singer was on this Song? I know that I have heard him on other Osmonds Songs. 9: PUPPY LOVE - DONNY OSMOND – Donny on his own this time. #3 on the Hot 100. Remake of a Paul Anka hit. 8: THE WAY OF LOVE - CHER - Long ago, there was a French singer (of Italian heritage) named Dalida who was hugely successful from the 1950s to the 1980s. Despite this, she had a very troubled Life and eventually committed suicide. As I heard this Song, I thought, “This sounds like something that Dalida would sing!” And when I searched the Song, I saw that she did release a French version of it in 1966. I thought that it was interesting. 7: PRECIOUS AND FEW – CLIMAX - Their only Top 40 hit. I like the sound of the lead singer. 6: MOTHER AND CHILD REUNION - PAUL SIMON - His first solo Hit. Mr. Simon seems to take the very sad concept of Death and make it better (although he himself calls it a sad Day). #4 US and #23 DE. 5: EVERYTHING I OWN - BREAD - David Gates certainly has a knack for heartfelt ballads, although I think I have heard more upbeat songs from him/Bread. 4: WITHOUT YOU - NILSSON – This had been #1 for the past four Weeks. Also #12 DE. Both of its Writers (members of the band Badfinger) later committed suicide. 3: THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT - ROBERT JOHN - Perhaps best known for his 1979 hit “Sad Eyes”, this Singer from Brooklyn, New York appears on the Chart with this remake. For me, he is one of the most obscure Singers based on his success. #3 US, #40 DE. 2: A HORSE WITH NO NAME - AMERICA #1 on the Hot 100 for three Weeks. I remember this from the Soundtrack to GTA: San Andreas. 1: HEART OF GOLD - NEIL YOUNG – His second Top 40 hit as a solo Singer. Excellent Song all throughout. #1 US and CA, #6 DE. My Extra: AM TAG ALS CONNY KRAMER STARB – JULIANE WERDING - Often, when a Song is released and becomes successful, a cover version (or Versions) is recorded in another Language. Sometimes, this cover is released as a Single and may become itself a Hit. Although this was rather common in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, I am not sure how common this is now. One example of this would be the Song "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down". Singer Joan Baez recorded the Song (itself a remake) in 1971, and it reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US). While this Version told a story that happened during the American Civil War (1861-1865), the one from Werding (lyrics written by Hans-Ulrich Weigel) features a different subject matter: the death of a young man from a drug overdose. The Verses describe his descent and his lover's Sorrow. Only the Chorus is placed here, but the full Text can be found on my Critique of the show from 11 March 1972, which is here: at40fg.proboards.com/thread/1093/chart-critiques?page=354"Am Tag als Conny Kramer starb" "Und alle Glocken klangen" "Am Tag als Conny Kramer starb" "Und all Freunde weinten um ihn" "Das war ein schwerer Tag" "Weil in mir ein Welt zerbracht."
“On the Day that Conny Kramer died” “And all of the Bells rang” “On the Day that Conny Kramer died” “And all of his friends cried for him” “That was a difficult Day” “Because my world broke apart.”This was the first Hit for the then 15-year-old Singer from Essen, Germany. It reached #1 in Germany in May of 1972, remaining there for one Week. Also a hit in Switzerland, it peaked at #2 and remained there for three Weeks. During its time in the runner-up position, the hit “Après toi” from Vicky Leandros was at #1. www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-Sw7UKbtE4Thank you for reading.

Hello. Here is my Critique for the 1986 Show. I liked slf's Critique as well. March 1, 1986 40: CALLING AMERICA - ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA – A futuristic sound, compared to their Hits from the 1970s and early 1980s. More focus on Synthesizers than the violins (which were not on the Song). A great song to start off this Countdown. #18 US, #31 DE. 39: TENDER LOVE - FORCE M.D.'S – I do remember this Song from long ago, but did not know who sang it until a few Years ago. Great! 38: NO EASY WAY OUT - ROBERT TEPPER – One of perhaps two Songs from the “Rocky IV” Soundtrack. 37: NEEDLES AND PINS - TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS WITH STEVIE NICKS – This sounds like their material from earlier in the ‘80s. But that may have only been their normal sound. It looks like it peaked here. 36: GOODBYE IS FOREVER – ARCADIA – They were not around for long, but they did score two Top 40 Hits, the other being “Election Day”. Later that year, its parent group Duran Duran came back with “Notorious”. 35: HE'LL NEVER LOVE YOU (LIKE I DO) - FREDDIE JACKSON - #25 on the Hot 100 and #8 on the R&B Chart. A nice uptempo number. LDD: MEMORY - BARRY MANILOW – A hit from 1982. 34: NIGHT MOVES - MARILYN MARTIN – Following the Hit “Separate Lives” is a solo Hit from one half of the Duo. 33: MANIC MONDAY - THE BANGLES – First day of the work week Blues! Not even Prince, who wrote the Song, is immune from them! The Bangles did an excellent job with this Song, which became their first Hit. #2 US and DE, #4 CH. 32: THE SUN ALWAYS SHINES ON T.V. - A-HA – The third Single from their debut Album “Hunting High And Low” for this Norwegian band. #20 US, #5 DE, #7 CH, #8 AT, and #2 NO. 31: ANOTHER NIGHT - ARETHA FRANKLIN – I expected to read that this Song was offered first to Tina Turner, but for whatever reason would not be able to record it. It just sounds like a Song she would sing. 30: LET'S GO ALL THE WAY - SLY FOX – #7 US, #36 DE. 29: ROCK ME AMADEUS – FALCO – Er wurde 1756 geboren und starb er 1791 im Alter von 35 (He was born in 1756 and died age 35 in 1791). #1 US & DE, #2 CH. 28: DIGITAL DISPLAY - READY FOR THE WORLD – The Video featured early 3D polygonal shapes and other graphics. 27: (HOW TO BE A) MILLIONAIRE – ABC – It only reached #49 in GB but #20 US. 26: BEAT'S SO LONELY - CHARLIE SEXTON – His voice is similar to Billy Idol or Bruce Springsteen. 25: THIS COULD BE THE NIGHT – LOVERBOY – This was a slower-tempo Song than their previous Top 40 hit “Lovin’ Every Minute Of It”, but both Songs reached the Top 10. This one peaked exactly at #10. 24: I'M YOUR MAN - WHAM! – In the US, this was their fifth Top 40 Hit, peaking at #3. It tied at #7 for both DE and CH. 23: WHAT YOU NEED – INXS – I used to confuse this Song with their later release “New Sensation”. Another Song from the album “Listen Like Thieves”, “Kiss The Dirt (Falling Down The Mountain)”, did not chart in US but did appear in “GTA: Vice City”. 22: STAGES - ZZ TOP – Peaked at #21. The second hit from their Album “Afterburner”. 21: SANCTIFY YOURSELF - SIMPLE MINDS - #14 US, #38 DE. 20: THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR - DIONNE & FRIENDS – Recorded for charity in the fight against HIV/AIDS, this one reached #1 US, #36 DE, #11 CH. I did not know that this was a cover version until now. 19: NIKITA - ELTON JOHN - #7 US, #1 DE (three Weeks) #1 CH (four Weeks), and #3 AT. 18: DAY BY DAY - THE HOOTERS – I recorded this Song from the radio around 2005. Now, I am more familiar with their previous hit “And We Danced”. 17: R.O.C.K. IN THE U.S.A. - JOHN COUGAR MELLENCAMP – The 11th top 40 Hit for this rocker from Indiana. 16: RUSSIANS – STING – #16 US, #4 DE, #13 CH. The Cold War would be a few Years from ending, but the fears remained strong for now. 15: CONGA! - MIAMI SOUND MACHINE – “Come on shake your body baby do the Conga I know you can’t control yourself any longer feel the Rhythm of the music getting stronger don’t you fight it til you tried it do that Conga beat.” Note that I did not place Periods in all of that. #10 US, #16 CH for this catchy number. 14: BURNING HEART – SURVIVOR – From the “Rocky IV” Soundtrack. #2 US, #6 DE, but #1 CH (one Week). 13: TARZAN BOY – BALTIMORA – The only hit in the US for this act out of Italy, which was fronted by Jimmy McShane of Northern Ireland. Also #3 DE, #4 CH, #2 AT. 12: KING FOR A DAY - THE THOMPSON TWINS – A few years ago I bought a CD with this Song included. It featured some different lyrics and musical arrangement. 11: A LOVE BIZAARE - SHEILA E. 10: THESE DREAMS – HEART – Definitely a beautiful Song that I have always loved! It spent a Week at #1. 9: SECRET LOVERS - ATLANTIC STARR – A nice slow Song from this New York band. 8: SILENT RUNNING - MIKE & THE MECHANICS – Their first hit, with a Cold War theme to it. #6 US, #8 DE. 7: LIFE IN A NORTHERN TOWN - THE DREAM ACADEMY – The vocal harmonies during the Chorus is instantly recognizable. 6: WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH - BILLY OCEAN – A great Song! #2 US, DE, and CH, but his only #1 in the US. 5: THE SWEETEST TABOO – SADE – I regularly hear this one on an oldies Station that I listen to. It is also one of the later Songs to be played on such Station. Also, #12 DE, #9 CH. LDD: EMPTY GARDEN - ELTON JOHN – His tribute to John Lennon, who was assassinated in 1980. 4: LIVING IN AMERICA - JAMES BROWN – His comeback Hit, co-written by Dan Hartman, who had a successful music career of his own. Also, #12 DE, #9 CH (just like “The Sweetest Taboo”). 3: SARA – STARSHIP – I admit that I have a fondness to this name. Mickey Thomas did a nice job with the Vocals. #1 US, #15 DE, and again #9 CH. 2: HOW WILL I KNOW - WHITNEY HOUSTON – The previous 2 Weeks’ #1 Hot 100 song. Also# 26 DE, #11 CH. 1: KYRIE - MR. MISTER – Great Song. Very uplifting, and with inspirational lyrics. #1 for two Weeks (US), #7 DE, #3 CH. My Extra: STIMMEN IM WIND – JULIANE WERDING – This Singer, born in 1956 in Essen, had a successful string of Hits in the 1970s. She continued it into the 1980s with this somber message. Words and Music by Michael Kunze and Harald Steinhauer.
Chor
Was ruht in tiefen Meeren Wird einmal wiederkehren Deine schwere Zeit ist bald vorbei
Chor
Black Bird, red Sky Woman by the sea She sniffs the Flowers, but her Hand is empty. She sees a Ship sink in the storm She hears people scream She is not abandoned, just alone.
Chorus: Voices in the wind That call her when the evening begins “Don’t be sad, Suzanne” “It is only beginning.” Voices in the wind That are so tender and loving “Don’t be sad, Suzanne” “It is only beginning.”
Smiles in frightened eyes Blinded by the light Tears of Ice burn her face Couples in faded imaginary photos People who love each other never die
Chorus
And the man to whom she speaks remains invisible People who love each other are close
Chorus
What rests in the deep seas Will one day return Your difficult time will soon pass
Chorus, repeat to fade“Stimmen…” was released on her 1986 Album “Sehnsucht ist unheilbar”. It reached #18 on the German charts in April of that year. www.youtube.com/watch?v=skVB66O8u6Ywww.youtube.com/watch?v=g6vqsaChD6k – Lyrics in the video Thank you for reading.

Hello. I was hoping to find one of my past Critiques from this time to help me with this one. But I was surprised to find one from this same Episode (on Page 228). So it will be a mix of the old and the new. February 17, 1979 20: DON'T CRY OUT LOUD - MELISSA MANCHESTER – Nice Song. If it has not been already, it belongs in a musical. It reached #10 on the Hot 100. 19: TRAGEDY - THE BEE GEES - It is not a tragedy that this song has increased from the previous week by ten Positions! I could not understand the lyrics very well, however the music was great! Adding to their streak of Success, “Tragedy” reached #1 on the Hot 100. Also, it reached #2 in both Germany (DE) and Switzerland (CH). 18: THE GAMBLER - KENNY ROGERS - A nice song, with a nice story in it. I remember it from a commercial a few Years ago, in which Kenny sang part of it while playing a card game. EXTRA: ONE MAN WOMAN, ONE WOMAN MAN - PAUL ANKA & ODIA COATES – This Duet reached #7 on the Hot 100 in 1974 or 1975. 17: BLUE MORNING, BLUE DAY - FOREIGNER - I have heard several of their songs on the radio, but not this one. It was good. 16: NO TELL LOVER - CHICAGO - Another song that I have never heard before. At first, I believed that the title was "Hotel Lover". #14 on the Hot 100. 15: HEAVEN KNOWS - DONNA SUMMER W/ BROOKLYN DREAMS - I understand; although it is important to be as accurate as possible, sometimes the mistakes happen. As I remember, I referred to a listener’s Letter to the AT40 Personnel. An upbeat disco song from a very talented singer. 14: SOUL MAN - THE BLUES BROTHERS – I enjoyed this remake of the 1960’s Hit from Sam and Dave very much! 13: SHAKE IT - IAN MATTHEWS – A typical pop/rock Song of the late 1970s to early 1980s. Very engaging! 12: GOT TO BE REAL - CHERYL LYNN - I hear this song on the radio a lot. It reminds me of "Best Of My Love" from The Emotions. Hard to believe that this was her only hit on the Hot 100, but she still had much Success on the R&B Chart. 11: SEPTEMBER - EARTH, WIND & FIRE - I will enjoy this song at any time of the year! #8 US, #20 DE. ARCHIVES: BABY, DON'T GET HOOKED ON ME - MAC DAVIS – The biggest Hit for this singer from Texas reached #1 in September 1972, remaining there for three Weeks. 10: I WAS MADE FOR DANCING - LEIF GARRETT - He recorded a version of "Surfin' U.S.A." that I like much. This one peaked here at #10. 9: SOMEWHERE IN THE NIGHT - BARRY MANILOW – Already in 1975 a hit for Helen Reddy, Mr. Manilow takes his Version to this position. 8: LOTTA LOVE - NICOLETTE LARSON – Her only Top 10 hit. It is sad, that she is no longer with us. LDD: SOMEDAY WE'LL BE TOGETHER - THE SUPREMES – Their last #1 Hot 100 Hit, from 1969. 7: LE FREAK - CHIC - #1 US (three Weeks), #2 DE, #5 CH. 6: EVERY 1’S A WINNER - HOT CHOCOLATE – While they continued to have Success elsewhere, this would be their final big hit in the US. #6 US, #16 DE, #9 CH. 5: I WILL SURVIVE - GLORIA GAYNOR – Given how popular this Song is, I am surprised that we cannot add about 3 more Weeks to double its time at #1 on the Hot 100. Also, those are non-consecutive Weeks. Also #7 both DE and CH. 4: FIRE - THE POINTER SISTERS – Excellent hit! One of my favorites on the Countdown! Penned by Bruce Springsteen, it went up to #2. 3: A LITTLE MORE LOVE - OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN – I don’t know why, but this almost sounds like a Song written by Dolly Parton. EXTRA: DEVIL WOMAN - CLIFF RICHARD - I think that she may be an evil witch. It reminded me of Scooby Doo. A big hit for Sir Cliff in 1976. 2: Y.M.C.A. - THE VILLAGE PEOPLE – A disco anthem and a Classic no doubt. I like the Lyrics, because they are rather motivating. 1: DO YA THINK I'M SEXY - ROD STEWART - #1 US, #9 DE, #8 CH. Good, but with Disco so popular then, it could not spare even one Week at #1 for “Fire”! My Extra: LIEDER, DIE DIE LIEBE SCHREIBT – NANA MOUSKOURI – A Remake of a Song by Spanish duo “Baccara” called “Don’t Play Me A Symphony”. The German lyrics were written by Harald Werner.
Give me more fantasy Or do you only want sympathy Why do you think I am sentimental? Please do it for me this one time
Songs written by Love Are not symphonies What remains for a whole life long Are small melodies Because I can feel words In sounds that one sings. That’s why when you want to tell me How attracted you are to me My wish to you Write a love Song.
No, you are not my Enemy. Your Roses are well-intended. But tomorrow they will be withered What is preserved forever is a little Song.
“Lieder, die die Liebe schreibt” appears on the Album of the same name, released in 1978. It reached #30 on the German charts, becoming her 14th hit. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rhEoobeVkA - From a TV Program called Starparade, which ran from the late 1960s into the early 1980s. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR9ggGSYxlg - The original from Baccara. Thank you for reading.

This week's presentations (Weekend of January 12-13, 2019): January 10, 1981 (A) I am over two Weeks late, but I definitely remember this Ep. from around January 2013. The Station played it for three Weeks in a row! However it was okay, because I liked it.
I cannot remember for sure, but the 1970s Episode, that was also repeated over again, may have been one of those to countdown big hits from the '70s overall.

90). 1: SHOW AND TELL - AL WILSON – It seems there were a lot of #1 Hits in 1974, with many peaking for a single Week. The were indeed: 35. A record at the time, tied the following year. '74/'75 was definitely the 'revolving door' period for #1 singles. My sympathies on the loss of your sister. That is a LOT of #1 Hits! Definitely a good time for music.
Thank you very much, mga707.

10: LOVE'S THEME - LOVE UNLIMITED ORCHESTRA – Barry White again, but this time as a Co-writer and Producer. It seems as though, in my Critiques, I make a lot of comparisons between Songs. The Theme from the TV Show “Hill Street Blues” sounds like it. Some of the guitar Riffs remind me also of a Song that I have mentioned in the past called “Marleen”, by Marianne Rosenberg. Good post. I found "Marleen" on YouTube. There's a clip that's gotten more than half a million views, which is impressive. I have a soft spot for disco anyway, but this song is well done. Granted, I couldn't understand the words other than the title . The string arrangement is very reminiscent of "Love's Theme," as is the scratchy rhythm guitar. Discovering "new" music is a good thing! So sorry about your sister. Remember the good times with her. Hello.
It is a nice Song. In the chorus she sings: "Marleen, one of us must go now. Marleen, that's why I beg you, leave Marleen". Both the singer and Marleen want the same man.
Thank you for the sympathies.

Hello.
Though I have posted here already this ear, I want to speak about 2018. Although it was not the best year for me (losing my Sister), it did remind me that every day must not be taken for granted, for we never know when it will be our time to leave. So, for me, every Day is a Gift.
Now, for my first Critique of 2019, I will go back in time by 45 Years.
January 19, 1974
20: WALK LIKE A MAN - GRANK FUNK RAILROAD – The follow up to their #1 Hit “We’re An American Band”. #19 for this classic rock Song. 19: LIVIN' FOR YOU - AL GREEN – This was a nice pleasant R&B number. It peaked here on the Hot 100, but went to #1 on the R&B Chart. 18: SPIDERS AND SNAKES - JIM STAFFORD – I do remember hearing “Wildwood Weed” on other Episodes, but if I heard this one before, I forgot it completely. 17: THE AMERICANS - BYRON MacGREGOR – This was an Editorial written originally by Canadian journalist Gordon Sinclair. MacGregor, who was a news anchor, recorded his own Version and it was released as a Single. Becoming a novelty Hit, this reached #4 in February 1974. Sinclair’s Version was also released as a Single and charted on the Hot 100. 16: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL - CHARLIE RICH – Is this Song played on country radio stations (which I don’t really listen to)? I have never heard it on any Station on the radio, but perhaps it is because it is of such a niche Genre, more country-oriented than other such Songs. It seems odd, because it did reach #1 on the Hot 100 for two Weeks. 15: ME AND BABY BROTHER – WAR – I am the youngest of my Siblings… 14: WHEN I FALL IN LOVE - DONNY OSMOND – Peaked here at #14. On the B-Side was a Remake of “Are You Lonesome Tonight”, which was a hit for Elvis Presley. 13: UNTIL YOU COME BACK TO ME (THAT'S WHAT I'M GONNA DO) - ARETHA FRANKLIN – It definitely has a 1960s sound to it. Good Song! 12: HELEN WHEELS - PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS – And speaking of the ‘60s, this sounds to me like one of his Hits with The Beatles. #10 US, #33 DE. 11: NEVER, NEVER GONNA GIVE YA UP - BARRY WHITE - #7 for this soul crooner. 9: LET ME BE THERE - OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN – This country number, with background Vocals by Mike Sammes, went to #6. It was written by John Rostill, who had died about 2 Months earlier. 8: LIVING FOR THE CITY - STEVIE WONDER – Now knowing how you will make it from one day to the next can be very difficult. #8 US, #20 DE. 7: THE WAY WE WERE - BARBRA STREISAND – On its way to being the first of 5 Hot 100 hits that she’s had. 6: TIME IN A BOTTLE - JIM CROCE – Billboard Hot 100’s final #1 of 1973, and the first for 1974. 5: YOU'RE SIXTEEN - RINGO STARR – Another former Beatle in the Countdown. #1 US, #19 DE. 4: I'VE GOT TO USE MY IMAGINATION - GLADYS KNIGHT & THE PIPS – Good Song. It peaked here. 3: SMOKIN' IN THE BOYS ROOM - BROWNSVILLE STATION – Another Song at its peak. Mötley Crüe recorded their Version of it in 1985. 2: THE JOKER - THE STEVE MILLER BAND – A Song, that introduced everybody (or perhaps re-introduced) to a new Word. This definite classic reached #1 US (previous Week) and #7 DE (in December 1990). 1: SHOW AND TELL - AL WILSON – It seems there were a lot of #1 Hits in 1974, with many peaking for a single Week.
Thank you for reading.
