freakyflybry - welcome (back) to the States! I haven't been to Wyoming since 1990; longer than you have. Hope you had a great time there. Chugging through my 1979 shows; up to 2/24 now, the first show to replay and mention the previous week's top 3 hits. Getting ready to say goodbye to "My Life" and "Too Much Heaven", two of my 1979 faves that I may not hear until the year-end as they near the end of their chart lives. Almost caught up to the current week, as I'd normally be listening to the 3/3 show. I'm almost there though; not that long ago I was over two months behind. I'm really enjoying the trip back in time, week by week. Still lots of good tunes in this show; will be fun following another favorite, "What A Fool Believes".

And now, in honour of the other Vegas residency show I saw tonight - Celine Dion, my fellow Canadian - "Casey's" Top 40 hosted by David Perry from February 28, 1998. Her Titanic theme "My Heart Will Go On", which she sang as the encore, was in its third week at #1.

Up to the unaired 4/14/1979 show now in my run through that year. Heard the guest-hosted 4/7 show by Bumper Morgan previously.

11/9/74: -- QL: whatever happened to Brenda Lee? -- Elton to a well-known critic: The song's the thing when touring -- How Mac Davis came up with "Stop And Smell The Roses" (whose album version AT40 played) -- a cruel edit to Rufus' song -- and how Gord Lightfoot's tour manager got busted with a repaired guitar he'd brought back to Canada from Martin (a few miles away from me in Nazareth, PA) dL

Doing a second guest hosted show in a row. Just listened to 3/7/87 with CVD, now 4/16/88 with Keri Tombazian. The 1988 is solid show, and Keri does a really nice job as a guest host--I listened to 8/13/83 a while back and thought she did a good job with that one too. CVD was as good as ever.

^ Love the CVD shows; he's been my favorite guest host during the classic AT40 era. I'm just under a year away from his first show in my marathon; currently near the midpoint of 4/21/1979. Archive-wise, it's in October 1973. I know 1974 will take a while to get through, with all the different #1 singles that year.
Keri Tombazian has done a great job too; though I've yet to hear the 4/16/1988 show (maybe I heard it originally in 1988 but not totally sure). I'll have to put that in the queue closer to that calendar date; maybe take a break from 1979 (though I don't think I could get sick of 1979 shows!). I really enjoyed the 8/13/1983 show she hosted.

3/25/2000 - I've listened to the first half so far . Don Ho's (famous Hawaiian for his song "Tiny Bubbles") daughter Hoku debuts in the Top 40 with "Another Dumb Blonde" from soundtrack to "Snow Day".

Needing a 1989 fix, I loaded up the Casey's Top 40 show from tomorrow's date (3/25). Lots of fun, springtime tunes throughout.
Still getting through 1979 in the car; currently on the 5/5 show. Been listening to them in order.
Might incorporate more shows from "9" years in the coming weeks...thinking of breaking up the 1979 shows a little bit, though it's been fun listening to them. Although I'd like to focus on "9" years, I can't go without the others for too long.

In memory of Ranking Roger, Casey's Top 40 from April 9, 1994 - the week he debuted as part of General Public with their first top 40 hit in 9 years, "I'll Take You There".
Several other deceased artists appear on this show: Prince, Tom Petty, Dolores O'Riordan, Layne Staley and, the artist who had just died that week, Kurt Cobain.

Going back 19 years to AT40 from April 1, 2000.
Casey gave an update on Oasis that week. Ultimately, the feuds between Noel and Liam were what broke them up finally in 2009.
