It's 3/31/1984 today. I don't have many 1984 shows & I wish I did, because this year I am listening to as many shows as I can from years that end in '4' & '9'.

Going through my collection and organizing it, I came across Crap From The Past from 3/3/2017. It's fun trying to guess what AT40 shows from 1979-1988 are being played from Ron Gerber's shuffle. I've gotten a few on the nose and within weeks of all the others. This reminds me of Pete's one thread about knowing which AT40 program was playing after listening to the first few seconds or something like that.
Also decided to start a CT40 marathon to help break up the AT40 shows from 1979, since it started in a "9" year. Currently listening to the debut show of 1/21/1989.

iHeart Classic AT40 finishing up 3/07/1981, not heard in syndication since 2011. Larry close, when they only credited Matt, Doctor Rob, and Pete. Followed with Top 100 of 1985 Pt 2.

^ And that's a show where Casey gives the chart date as 3/8/1981. I haven't listened to the iHeart station in several weeks.
Was listening to AT10's debut show from 3/20/2004 earlier in the week, along with Casey's Top 40 from 4/5/1997. Taking a small break from 1979. Was going to listen to CT40 from 4/6/1991, but my copy isn't that great, so I'll dial back 52 weeks to 4/7/1990. It was around this time, if not earlier in 1990, that another area top 40 station started airing CT40, as another rival station was airing AT40 with Shadoe. Both stations aired the shows on Sundays.

Today it's my weekly rundown of 1989 CT40 shows, and it's frustrating me. The last hour features 11 of the top 40 hits AND an R&D. Three songs - "Girl You Know It's True", "Heaven Help Me" and "I'll Be There for You" were all chopped for time thanks to the R&D.

I just listened to the AT20 from 10 years ago this week. Casey's voice was holding up pretty well. He introduced two artists that are still going strong today, Lady Gaga ("Just Dance") and Taylor Swift ("Love Story").

Or if they hadn't started the show by replaying the previous week's #1, something that was regularly done for about the first six months of CT40 and then largely abandoned, presumably for time reasons.

3/29/80 - CVD's first show as guest host. Sounded great that first and got better by the end of the 80's. At #32: "Come Back" by the J. Geils Band...and I understand J. Geils left us yesterday. RIP (and guessing a J Geils Band optional extra is forthcoming).

4/22/2000 - 1st half - Pink was one of three debuts with her first single "There You Go". Hard to believe she's almost had a 20 year career, and released her 30th chart hit this year with "Walk Me Home" .

Taking it back to AT40 from May 9, 1998.
Hard to believe it's been 21 years since this show aired, it really takes me back to grade 10 in high school.

Just finished with 4/16/83 with Bob Eubanks. Good show - hadn't listened to an '83 yet in 2019 since the only one that's been aired so far was one I've heard. The last week at #1 for "Billie Jean", though MJ would be back at #1 two weeks later.
Now onto 4/20/74...love me some 1974 - pretty much my favorite year of the 1970-75 time frame. So many good classic hits from that year...

^ Yeah, it's sad how many artists we enjoyed while growing up have left us. Way too many, and many of those much too young.
I finally got my car back yesterday after not having it for almost 4 weeks, thanks to being severely rear-ended early this month by an elderly woman who failed to stop behind stopped traffic at a stoplight, and hit me doing around 30-40 (speed limit is 65 where I was). In addition to added pain in which I'm still getting treatment for, I couldn't listen to my usual shows during that time. Thankful and grateful things weren't worse, though it's irritating to have life interrupted by someone's inattentiveness behind the wheel. There's already so much of it out there.
Getting back to 1979 where I left off, with the 5/26 AT40 show. Great show, including Casey's report on "slipped disc-o". Premiere aired this show last year.
