If anyone's interested, I have a Facebook group "Casey Kasem and Shadoe Stevens: The 90s". If we could get enough people to join and contact Premiere, letting them know of our interest in 90s shows, that may help some. I don't know, but it couldn't hurt. Especially, now since old Rick Dees shows from the 90s are being broadcast. I can't seem to find it on FB. Link?

to clear up a few descrepencies in this thread: Premiere owns the rights to Caseys Top40, westwood 1 has no rights. Also, Premiere and Shannon Lynn have already restored almost all of the CT40 shows. there are a few shows Shannon is still looking for. As to whether they will ever air then, who knows. Shannon has been told by Premiere "not at this time". and i dont think theres a huge market for it yet, not that many genX/90s stations right now.

Hervard and others: Here's the link to the Casey and Shadoe 90s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/#!/groups/CaseyandShadoe90s To get to the site, move the mouse over the above address (for some reason I can't make this address into one you could click on and go like I did Shannon's website below) and cut or paste it into your browser and press the "enter" key--it should take you right there Also, if anyone happens to find an LP or original CD set of the missing CT40 shows that Shannon needs (there's a list of missing shows on the main page of www.charismusicgroup.com ) please contact him at the email address he lists on that site.

I do have one question: Who owns the rights to Shadoe's AT40 episodes? I know Premiere owns the rights to Casey's Top 40, but what about Shadoe's AT40?

I do have one question: Who owns the rights to Shadoe's AT40 episodes? I know Premiere owns the rights to Casey's Top 40, but what about Shadoe's AT40? They own American Top 49, thus they own it all lock, stock, and barrel.

I would love it if they would air CT40 episodes. His show was so similar to the AT40 shows of the 80's, and Casey continued the same amazing delivery of the Top 40 countdowns throughout its run. I am probably not as into the top 40 music of the 90's since I was in college for the middle part of that decade and was much more into alt rock, etc. But I would still love to hear those CT40 shows if they ever decide to add them into syndication with the AT40 series. One question--if Premiere really does own those, then why not start playing the shows from '89 as a part of the AT40 the 80's series? Even though '89 was probably my least favorite year of the 80's, it would fill in that void nicely. Guess it might happen someday, but probably not for a while.

When on www.charismusicgroup.com/ it is said they need vinyl copies or CDs of CT40 shows, do they talk about mp3 files?. I have, for example a copy of 1989 9-30-89. But it is not a vinyl or a CD ( format).

Ok, this is not quite in the 90s but Casey's Top 40 is associated with the 90s. I noticed that on the first show in 89 there were 2 Request and Dedications. Does anyone know how they got those when the show was just starting or were they made up?

I assume there was some way Westwood One asked people to send them in. Possibly through trade paper ads or radio spots. Maybe in advance of the show premiering, stations that were going to air the show had their DJs tell listeners how to send them in.

i believe they wer left over letters from Casyes days at AT40, afterall, the letters were addressed to Casey, not watermark. and during the 1st show of CT40, Casyes didnt give out the address during the first R&D. i think he gave the address in the last segment of hour 1. My hunch is at the time the were voicetracking the 1st hour, they didnt know what the address was going to be. And voice traks of the address were inserted later on. Of course this is just my speculation.

***OK, so question for anyone on the boards that would know (maybe Pete B, Scott L, Jimmy D, or otherwise?) what the story is with the current legal rights to Casey's Top 40 shows? I have been under the impression that WW1 still owned those, which is why they haven't gone into syndication of any kind yet. If Premiere really is the owner of the rights to the Casey's Top 40 shows, I would almost be surprised if there weren't some arrangement to rerun the shows in syndication in the near future. Let's face it, the 90's are becoming the "new oldies"! So far as I know, you're right...WW1 still owns 'em.

It'll be interesting to see if Premiere will eventually air "AT40" & "Casey's Top 40" countdowns from the nineties.

But if Westwood One still owns the rights to CT40, I doubt if we will hear them soon, if ever. According to Rob's book, CT40 was a sore spot for them in 1998 and may still be. Besides WW1 owns Rick Dees and are broadcasting those shows from the 80s and 90s and would probably not want the competition.
If Premiere does own the rights to CT40, there should be a better chance of them being broadcast, but from what I've seen, they are a bit cautious (and righfully so) and will likely only broadcast those shows if and when conditions are extremely favorable for their bottom line.
