Next week it'll be all about 1983. Probably the Sept. 24th chart?

I think so. If so, we'll hear the one-week wonder that is "Cold Blooded" by Rick James.

I got a question concerning the VJ Big 40 Countdown. (And if it's been answered before, please forgive me.) As is made abundantly clear, this countdown comes directly from the Billboard Hot 100 charts from that era, just like AT 40 was. My question is this: Are Mark, Nina, or Alan allowed to mention Casey Kasem or American Top 40 at any time during their show? I got to thinking about this earlier today when, while listening to their countdown, I heard the Pointer Sisters' song "Dare Me"---and we ALL know how THAT song made AT40 history . I wonder whether the VJ's ever made reference to the infamous "Dead Dog" outtake whenever they came across that song in a countdown. (I heard no reference to that incident on this week's show.)

They didn't reference it at all from what I understand. Alan just said that The Pointer Sisters were in at #13 with "Dare Me" without mentioning anything extra pertaining to it.

Alan references Casey Kasem from time-to-time on the show, but it's more of a "growing up in Alabama, I remember hearing Casey Kasem...." kind of thing, and not some factual AT40 reference, as you were hoping for.

Indirectly they mention that "as always based on the Billboard charts." So since Casey used the BB charts, we can conclude a closeness?

I wonder if the next thee years will be 1986, 1988 and 1989, in that order? Seems strange but that might be the next three years, unless they go out of order and replace 1982, which is the next year due after 1989.

I see they fixed the problem where they stop showing the artist and song after a few minutes.

They went with the 10/8 chart date.

Next week it'll be all about 1984. A poor, and somewhat unnecessary choice, and after they'd been doing so well the past six weeks. 1984 wasn't due for two more weeks. 1982 and 1989 were due to be featured sooner, and either would have given us a "new" chart this week. Instead, they go out of their way to give us a third-time repeat.

I think 1989 is due next week so they can hopefully avoid using the 28th again.

And I was right, with 1989 being next week.

Should be 10/21/89 then; as with the last time they did 1989 (early August) they avoided repeating another chart from the same month. That makes 1982 the year they haven't played in longest, and I'm glad they're not doing it next week when Premiere gives us Casey from that same year.
