Dear Casey fan,
There are those Casey shows that you listen to almost on a weekly basis that are very good if not excellent. Then, along comes a show that exceeds excellent and is EXCEPTIONAL.
The "American Top 10" show slated to air this weekend (February 10-11, 2007) is EXCEPTIONAL.
I CANNOT recommend enough that you make it a point to listen to THIS show. To tie in with Valentine's Day, it's a salute and history of the Long Distance Dedication.
For starters, the entire recording of "Letter From Elaina" by Casey, his bubbling under single from 1964 on the Warner label will be heard. I repeat, the ENTIRE recording of "Letter From Elaina," Casey's 45 rpm 1964 release that was the prelude to the birth of the LDD, will be aired.
And there's more. Casey tells the story of the very first LDD...re-reads his first Request and Dedication (which he's called the most important letter he's ever read since it inspired him)...and airs an LDD Bill Clinton made to wife Hillary in 1994, with the song "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley being played. This LDD never made it to any Casey show until now. And there's ANOTHER Elvis song played as an LDD, "Can't Help Falling In Love." A record FOUR LDD'S on this show!
Finally, EVERY song on the recently released "Casey Kasem Presents The Long Distance Dedications" CD is played. All 20. "What A Wonderful World" by Louie Armstrong is among the one-song segment optional extras, but it's there to be played along with the 19 other songs on that CD.
Oh, I'm proud and honored to have written the liner notes for that CD.
I rate this among the BEST EVER shows Casey's ever done. His staff did a brilliant job of putting this show together.
A SHOW YOU MUST NOT MISS!
Regards,
