Last year, the Top 8 vote-getters were all admitted to the Hall of Fame. This year (in order of number of ballots received):

YES: Willie Nelson
YES: Kate Bush
NO: Joy Division/New Order
YES: Sheryl Crow

YES: Missy Elliott (with less than 200,000 votes)
NO: A Tribe Called Quest

I get it that the fan vote counts for a very small portion of all ballots cast... but there is a definite difference in musical taste this year between the average music fan and this year's other voters.

Having said that... I am glad George Michael, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, The Spinners (finally!) and Rage Against The Machine made it in. I am fine with Kate Bush making it. Missy... eh. I am also glad that Chaka Khan, Bernie Taupin and Don Cornelius were selected.
