I just happened to remember that the creator of The Muppets, the late Jim Henson, reached the top forty twice-In the late summer-early fall of 1970 as Ernie from "Sesame Street",he peaked at # 16 with "Rubber Duckie"-Nine years later,in 1979,as Kermit The Frog he performed "Rainbow Connection" from "The Muppet Movie"-That Paul Williams composition peaked at # 25.

My ex-wife/still close friend grew up in the Chicago area (Evanston) and while at Evanston Township High School in the '60s she would go to teen dances at a local club where Ronnie and the New Colony Six would perform. While visiting the area in the early '90s, out around Des Plains or Elk Grove Village (O'Hare vicinity) one day we pulled up to a traffic light behind an O.J.-style late '80s/early '90s Ford Bronco with Illinois plates reading 'R RICE'. "I wonder if that's Ronnie Rice from New Colony Six" she wondered. So when the light changed we pulled up alongside and, sure enough, it was! We waved/honked, he did the same. Enjoyed Ronnie Rice performances. During the 80s he was a fixture at Lawrence of Oregano Italian restaurant in Chicago performing on weekends. Still can be seen on occasion locally. He also had some local solo hits in the early 60s prior to joining the New Colony Six. Charted 4 times on WLS between late 1961 and mid-1963 Over The Mountain (Across The Sea) - #27 Maybe It's Because I Love You - #33 Come Back Little Girl - #20 I Know - #36

"Sex (I'm a...)" got airplay in some areas in 1983, including mine, but its subject matter no doubt kept it from reaching the 40 (#62 peak). Would've been another title (and lyrical content) for the show to warn stations about. Only Berlin 45 I ever bought. The picture sleeve is a hoot!

I didn't think about Billy Vera since he hit #36 in 1968 with Judy Clay on "Country Girl City Man" but I guess The Beaters count, eh? Now I guess I have something to do tomorrow.
