Did anyone hear Kix today? Thoughts? Also - I have noticed on several websites that WGAR/Cleveland is said to be an affiliate of ACC with Kix. Does anyone know what time they are airing the show? No clue how he did, I have tried to record Bob's show twice today and my stupid media player won't play the streams. I have heard others say he was ok, much better than Michael J. Of course, David Perry could marginally probably get that vote of confidence also. As far as WGAR, I list them as I saw them. As far as when, or if the show really IS airing on there; or if this is another AT40 situation when affiliate clearance was so unorganized no one had any idea who airs what, I wouldn't be able to tell you that.

I caught about 45 minutes of it, and I thought it was terrible. He makes Jeff Foxworthy sound like a great countdown host. And what was up with playing two extras back to back with no reason even to play those songs besides Kix having stories about them? If people want to listen to Kix yammer and play songs he likes, fine, but they shouldn't have used the ACC name to do it, give that name back to Bob Kingsley, who actually knows what to do with it.
Kix just sounds like a guest host, so ACC, in a sense, has a permanent guest host.
Oh, and Paul, WGAR runs Kix's Random Extras And Pointless Stories Hoedown right after Bob's show at noon eastern time, I thought you had read the article that mentioned that before.

Is that Kix's version of "America's Top Hits" so to speak? So they don't actually air ACC?

"I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a disc jockey, I don't have a great radio voice and I don't have impeccable timing." Kix Brooks in an article posted in billboard.com
And we should be listening to him, why?

And by the way, how much longer is acctop40.com going to make us look at that poster of Andrew Ridgely, er, I mean Kix Brooks?

WGAR runs Kix's Random Extras And Pointless Stories Hoedown right after Bob's show at noon eastern time, I thought you had read the article that mentioned that before. So this means that WGAR now runs FOUR countdown shows every weekend. Bob Kingsley, Ben & Brian, Jeff Foxworthy, and now Kix Brooks. And a Noon-4pm airtime...unusual for a major market. But I guess they wanted to keep Bob 8-Noon where he has been forever on that station.

You and I read most of the same stuff about the ACC/CT40 shows, so since I had seen atleast twice something about WGAR airing the show at Noon following Bob, I figured you had too. Honestly, I read stuff from several different sources and forgot what all came from where.

Slightly off topic, but while searching WGAR.com to see if they mention Kix at all (they do not, but they still refer to ACC with Bob in the On-Air Schedule, but have chaged the link to ct40.com in the drop panel of personalities).
I noticed that Michael J is in fact the mid-day guy at WGAR! I did a Google search and he is indeed on several CC country stations, so my guess is he is one of the voicetrack overload jocks for CC country stations. I don't know where he is based, but he does do the 10a-2p shift on WGAR in Cleveland.

I had no idea this type of thing was done.

Oh yes. Many jocks "syndicate" their voicetracks to several different markets around the country each day. A jock live from 3p-7p on Station A often times will double up and voicetrack any number of shifts on Stations B-Z. Cost cutting measures.

so how long before we are down to 1 set of DJ's nationally for most affiliates in a specific genre?

It's already happening with more and more stations running national satelite feeds of various formats, only locally programming a few select hours. Our oldies station here in Meadville, Cool 101.7, runs a national "Oldies Radio" feed from somewhere, breaking only for a live PM drive show from 3p-7p and Dick Clark's Rock, Roll & Remember on Sunday from 6p-10p. The jocks from national feed record a few custom "Cool 101.7" liners that are inserted between songs, and thats about it.
