That website makes it seem as if the kickoff show for the new CT-40 will be the top 50 of 2005. So will Kix Brooks host the ACC year-end show, or will they not even have one?

My bet is on Kix's first show being ACC's Year-End countdown. My understanding is ACC is not like AT40 when it comes to year-end shows, and they only have a one part Top 50 show on New Years Weekend. So - my guess is the Year End show for ACC wil be Kix's first, and it will be head to head with the debut of Bob's CT40.

Here's a good question: If Kix Brooks hosts the ACC Year End show, and no one hears it ...did it really happen? This will be important New Years weekend.
I emailed that address on Bob's new website, and I am going to post my message as well as the response:
From: "Paul Zimmerman Jr" <pzimmerman001@centurytel.net> To: bob@ct40.com Subject: Date: Sun, 13 Nov 2005 21:37:27 -0600
> > Good luck Bob! ABC was stupid when they wouldn't renew Casey Kasem's > contract 17 years ago and they are even dumber for this one. You and > your new show will bury ACC. Could you please put up an affiliate list > showing them and day/times they will air them so we know where to find the new show. > I am sure most affiliates will drop ACC and take your new show on and > put it in the same slot, but just in case. > > > > Thanks > > Paul Zimmerman
Now the response:
Hi Paul
Thanks for the e-mail. My name is Ken Halford. I am the producer and chief engineer for Bob. June 2005 marked my 15 year anniversary working with him. For the time being I am answering the e-mails to the site and I'll see if I can address your questions. For the record, I agree with your assessment and it seems most of the fans and radio affiliates do too. We are working on the affiliate list right now. It is changing literally by the minute as stations seem to be almost lining up to take the show. We have really been blown away and humbled by the outpouring of admiration. We will get the list up as soon as possible. In the meantime, call your local radio station and make sure they are carrying, "Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40." The listers calling in has really made a big difference. Thanks again!

Sounds like Kix may not be inheriting a sinking ship...it may already be at the bottom! Maybe the last song on Kix's debut show will be "Happy Trails"!

Even though I am not a country music fan whatsoever, I have still been emailing around in curiosity as to what my local affiliates both back home in Cleveland and here in Meadville will be doing. No responses yet, however here is my response from BKCT40:

Please contact your local station if you haven't already, and tell 'em to be sure and carry Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40. The phone calls are working! thanks again!

Yeah a lot of what is being said is probably standard in emails he is sending. I was actually thinking about something else that may happen with the two shows now. For stations that run ACC twice on the weekends and I do think quite a few of them do, they may do the 1989 method again. Play ACC once, and instead of replaying it, air Bobs new show until realize Bobs show is the only one people are listening to, then ax ACC altogether. It will at least give ACC some extra weeks on the air for everyone to hear how bad Kix Brooks is as a countdown host.

Or it could be like when Casey left AT40 and there were oodles of stations picking up both AT20's. My Hot AC station, which was a Rick Dees Hot AC affiliate at the time, simply added AT20 and began running both shows. I could see a lot of stations that only run ACC picking up Bob's CT40 and running both. I could see Bob being the Sunday morning show on many stations and Kix being the Sunday night show. Although, if the stations already run Ben & Brian or Jeff Foxworthy in addition to Bob, it could be challenging. Regardless -- my guess is Bob's show will do just fine.

Oh yeah, Bobs show will do fine, eventually driving American Country Countdown to "international" distribution only. But I dont believe stations that air American Country Countdown once are going to pick up Bobs show and continue to run ACC. Seeing stations how they are, they generally don't like to add radio shows to their lineup unless they feel it will enhance the listenership(i.e. Ryan Seacrest replacing Casey Kasem on AT40). Thats why I feel stations who run the show twice and already have a space built in for the show, will possibly keep ACC for awhile and run Bobs new show in the rerun timeslot or vice versa. It happened in 89 when Casey started his new show, and I think the same thing could happen again.

Here's a shocker, the acc page has a picture of Brooks and Dunn from the CMA Awards last night on the front of it, yet in the blurb underneath says nothing about them and refers to LeAnn Womack, and a couple of other people. I guess if you click on the story it might talk about them, but I find it odd THEY are on the front and no mention below them about them.

I would imagine acctop40.com will not say a word about the switch until after Bob's last ACC airs, much like at40.com did not debut until after Casey signed off on January 3/4, 2004.
