If this is about Bob not being fresh, new, and "wanted" anymore on country radio anymore, here's a fun fact.
The major country station in Cleveland, WGAR, is owned by Clear Channel. Premiere has thrown at them both the Ben & Brian countdown and the Jeff Foxworthy countdown. Yet -- they still run Bob Kingsley, and at the best timeslot at that. They push Ben & Brian and Jeff Foxworthy into extremely early/late timeslots, and bring you Bob Kingsley Sunday from 8am-Noon. Funny how even though they are being forced into the other programming they still choose to not only carry ACC, but carry it as their "primary" countdown. I am not a country music fan by any means, but according to friends who listen to WGAR, Bob's show is advertised throughout the week whereas Ben & Brian and Jeff Foxworthy are not.

exactly, which is why a Bob Kingsley forced to run show is so funny, PD's everywhere will be ecstatic to be forced to run Bob's show. I can see it now:
Premiere VP: I know you run this other stuff, but you must now run Bob Kingsleys new countdown show too, you can take off ABC's show if you want.
Station PD: (trying to withhold his excitement) DO I HAVE TO? (saying it with this look on his face) ;D

This from Billboard's website:
In a move that took the country music industry by surprise, ABC Radio Networks has made public its plans to replace longtime "American Country Countdown" host Bob Kingsley with Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn at the beginning of next year. Kingsley has hosted the show since 1978, and says the two sides failed to come to terms in a renegotiation, in part because of Kingsley's concerns over ABC Radio being for sale.
While Kingsley did not own the show's name, his Weatherford, Texas-based company KCCS Productions produced the show, and had a sales and distribution agreement with ABC. Kingsley and his team plan to continue the show either with another syndicator or on their own. They are in the process of creating a new name for their program.
Kingsley sent an urgent memo to his more than 400 affiliates Nov. 9 informing them of the change and asking them to continue airing his weekly countdown show and daily music feature, as well as the four-hour year-end show. In the letter, Kingsley told affiliates, "We would like to offer you the right of first refusal for our new program in your market before we go into the marketplace with our new distribution partner."
"Hopefully everybody will stay with us," Kingsley tells Billboard Radio Monitor. "So far the response [from affiliates] has been really good."
"American Country Countdown," which continues with Brooks as the host, uses the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart as the basis for its countdown. Brooks spoke with Kingsley Nov. 8 and told him the four hour weekly show would be recast from an "artist's perspective," according to Kingsley.
In addition to its affiliate stations, the show is heard on American Forces Radio Network and internationally through a joint venture with Radio Express.
____My thoughts____
So far the response from affiliates has been good?? Yeah I am sure it is! Probably more like, your starting your own show? When can we expect to get the first one because we honestly will need it before January 8 at 8am? Otherwise, I will have to program 4 hours of music!
Something that scares me is what Kix told Bob. With all due respect to Mr. Brooks, welcome to the Titanic sir. I don't care what the artists perspective is. I listen to American Country Countdown for just what the show says it is....listen to someone count the 40 biggest hits in country music backwards to #1. Thats it! The calendar feature and mailbag are nice, but the countdown is why I listen. I dont care about what the artist think, what goes on on the road, where people are performing, I dont care. I dont go to concerts and I dont care. I dont listen to Country Countdown USA for this very reason.
So, as of January....Goodbye ACC. Soon enough, the name and Billboard rights will be available when ACC is no more. Then it can all return where it belongs.

So, basically it is a carbon copy of 1988, except affiliates will not have to wait five months for Bob's return. My guess is "Bob's Top 40" will be extremely similar to the current ACC, just as CT40 was 97% AT40. So, even if ACC and Bob Kingsley never reunite, Bob's shows will always be the way they are.

At least that answers my chart question. I'll definitely be tuning into BT40/BCC/Bob's Countdown/Bob's Hot 40 (or whatever they call it).

In an entirely unrelated incident (sarcasm used) the American Country Countdown message boards are down.

It reminds me of 2004 and AT40 because it seems as if a "regular radio guy" Kingsley is being forced out for a "big name" in the same way as Casey and Ryan. I didnt notice this first part earlier, my response to this is I know Ryan was known for American Idol, but remember he was an afternoon drive time radio host on a station in LA also. So, he wasn't completely new to the idea of radio.

Based on what I've seen, I don't think Brooks & Dunn will have a problem at all touring this summer!

I wasn't actually being serious there.
I think that ACC will end up dying a slow death, but I can't see it taking 6 years like it took AT40 to die.

I wonder, when ACC with Kix Brooks debuts, if Brooks will take a trip into the ACC Hall of History and come face to face with the statue of Bob Kingsley. Probably not. This whole episode has serious deja vu all over it.

He would probably walk into the ACC Saloon or something. Then the lone affiliate that decided to keep ACC even though they are pissed off Bob didnt stay, can decide not to air that part out of protest.
