There will be five Top 300 Countdowns around New Year's Weekend on Sirius Radio. Anyone beside me interested in all five decades? Here's my prediction for most songs per artist(s) per decade: Elvis Presley will dominate the 50's, the Beatles, 60's, Bee Gees/Elton John for the 70's, Michael Jackson/Madonna for the 80's, and Mariah Carey for the 90's. Any agreement/comments?

Don't forget there will be one for the 2000s as well. I'm more than likely going to be interested in the last three decades than the first three.

I liked when SiriusXM aired the Top 500 Songs of the '90s last year, but they ended up skipping some songs because of a stupid requirement to not play more than a certain number of songs by the same artist in an hour. I think Mariah Carey songs were affected the most because of all the huge hits she had near the top.
On the other hand, the '90s countdown used Billboard charts; if SiriusXM makes up their own countdown, they can space the songs out as they like.

I believe they alternated between "Someday" and "Hero", and then "Emotions" and "Dreamlover" in their respective parts of the hour during that special's run. I think they did the same thing when they played every song that hit #1 on the Hot 100 a couple years back. I'm sure Mariah was one of them but there were a couple of others who were affected.

I believe these are tabulated by people's votes, so no chart is being used. That should allow them to play everything.

What is the cutoff date for the 2000's? Would it include up to the present time, as in 2020?

The Beatles were definitely affected by that, particularly in 1964.

I saw a poster on the 60's Satellite Thread indicate that the 60's Top 300 Countdown starts on Monday, the 28th. Anyone know of the other decades, or do we assume that all programming would be uniform?
Thanks to anyone who has any insight, and Happy Holidays to all.
Jeff

3 pm according to the 80's on 8 schedule, Wednesday, December 30th. Wednesday thru Sunday or even Monday morning is most likely. I am guessing it will take 20 hours to complete 300 songs at 15 songs an hour, averaging 4 minutes a piece. It also depends on introductions and recaps by the VJs.

They have all started as of around 15 minutes ago.
I found it funny for the 2000s one, the songs "Right Here" and "Right Thurr" were back-to-back.

I find it funny they could find no DJs to do the 50s one, so they used the syndicated guy, Alex Ward and an announcer... (I believe Lou Simon runs all the decades channels - 50s, 60s and 70s for sure.) Also, why didn't 40s Junction not do a a Top 300? Just because they got kicked off Channel 4 is no excuse!!
