Industry Baby by Lil Nas and Jack Harlow drop completely out of the Hot 100 from #6 after jumping the week before from #12. Has any other record (other than Christmas record) dropped out of the Hot 100 from as high a position as #6? I show that "Industry Baby" followed this pattern: 12 - 6 - 12 on the charts dated 01/08, 01/15, and 01/22.

I would need to check, but I think Prince dropped out of the Hot 100 from the top 8 with "When Doves Cry" and "Purple Rain" in May of 2016. I know that is in the same line of thinking as Christmas songs but I do remember that happening, along with like six other Prince songs that were in the top 40, after his death.

Following Prince's unexpected death on 04/21/2016, here are his songs that re-charted on the Hot 100. They all peaked in the issue dated 05/14/2016. None of these 8 songs were still listed in the Hot 100 dated 05/21. 4) Purple Rain 8) When Doves Cry 20) Little Red Corvette 23) Kiss 25) Let's Go Crazy 27) 1999 33) Raspberry Beret 39) I Would Die 4 U

Heat Waves by Glass Animals moves to the backup spot (#2) after 56 weeks on the Hot 100! And it ranks behind “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto, providing a kind of Disney throwback to the days of Broadway or soundtrack hits identified with the show rather than any particular artist becoming hits. Also for anyone who was wondering, “Heat Waves” had two non consecutive weeks at #1 on AT40 in February. The song first charted last spring and summer peaking in the mid-teens on AT40, before being readmitted to the Mediabase charts and countdown based on continuing and increased airplay.

"Heat Waves" is poised to be the new #1 on this week's Hot 100, easily giving it the record for longest climb to the top.
EDIT: Sure enough, "Heat Waves" is the new #1, reaching the top in its 59th week.

"Don't Think Jesus" by Morgan Wallen debuted on the Hot 100 at #7 last week (April 30th). This week it dropped to #42. The lyrics of the song are sincere, though musically the tune is a bland, standard power ballad--not overly catchy. I will listen it a few times to see if a subtle musical hook kicks in. I had a similar issue with Tim McGraw's 2004 smash "Live Like You're Dying": excellent lyrics but awfully maudlin and trite musically.

Not that I know of, and I don't think a country song with the hook line "Don't think Jesus done it this way" would be a good candidate for promotion even at Hot AC, let alone CHR. And that's leaving aside MW's personal baggage...

32 debuts on the 5-21-22 Hot 100. Is this a record, excluding holiday songs that dropped off in early January? I am sure if there were more than 32 debuts, some of our experts will shame me--let's have fun and search? When I get more time, I will see at what the highest position to drop off the entire Hot 100 was. Now to mention it, is it still called the Hot 100 or I am dating myself?

It is still called the Hot 100, but as far as I'm concerned it's not the same Hot 100 we all grew up with. It's like a bad remake of a good TV series, but using the same title.

Yes Mike, the reboots just aren't the same. Like the saying goes, "Sometimes You Just Can't Go Back Home."
