On the AT40: The 80's 8/6/1988 episode (The last Casey AT40 prior to Shadoe Stevens's takeover) OPTIONAL EXTRA of "The Loco-Motion" by Kylie Minogue, Larry Morgan mentioned Kylie is one of many artists to hit the top 40 to skip a decade and also mentioned Meat Loaf, David Cassidy, and Enya.
In a 1993 Shadoe Stevens AT40 episode Shadoe also mentioned these top 40 artists who skipped a decade (mostly 1970's acts who didn't hit in the 1980's to tie in with Meat Loaf's comeback: The Righteous Brothers (Thoguh Bill Medley was in a solo duet with Jennifer Warnes in 1987 called "I Had The Time of My Life"), The Temptations (In 1991 they sang backup on Rod Stewart's "The Motown Song"), Kiss, Bad Company, and Jimmy Cliff. Shadoe forgot to mention Barry White (Who didn't hit AT40 in the 1980's but in 1990 was featured on Quincy Jones's "The Secret Garden").
Can you think of other top 40 artists who skipped 1 decade?

Gary U.S. Bonds and Aaron Neville both hit the top 40 in the 60's and 80's but skipped the 70's.

Thanks to one week in the Top 40 in 1974, you can add Bill Haley & His Comets to this list. They skipped over the 1960s.

On AT40, Mick Jagger skipped the '00s. The Rolling Stones had "Rock And A Hard Place" in 1990 on AT40 (and later "Out of Tears" in 1994 on Casey's Top 40). Then he was featured on will.i.am's "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)" in 2011.
Tammy Wynette skipped the 80s.
And Dobie Gray skipped the 80s and 90s.

Frank Sinatra skipped the 70's.
Herb Alpert came close to skipping the 70's, but had "Rise" in the latter part of 1979.

Did The Beach Boys have any top 40 hits in the 70s? I know they hit #1 in 1964 with "Good Vibrations" but I do know they had at least one top 40 hit in the 1980s with "Kokomo", but I remember them releasing "Getcha Back" in 1985, and I thought I read somewhere that they had a top 40 hit in 1981 with "Come Go With Me" (not to be confused with the Expose song).

Did The Beach Boys have any top 40 hits in the 70s? Yes, "Rock and Roll Music" in 1976, and one or two others.

I don't know if this song was on AT40 or CT40, but Barry White had a solo hit in 1994 with "Practice What You Preach" that hit #18 on the Billboard chart.

Elvis skipped the 90s (I believe "A Little Less Conversation" hit AT40 in the 00s).
I think Paul McCartney skipped the 90s and 00s, unless you count The Beatles' "Free as a Bird", which hit CT40 in the 90s.

Ray Charles (along with Chaka Khan) was one of the featured vocalists on the Quincy Jones re-make of 'I'll Be Good To You'--which made the Top 40 on December 16, 1989: which just prevented Ray from missing the complete decade of the 1980's--even though his last top 40 hit was an instrumental (Booty Butt) in May of 1971.
Sorry, Ray.

We can't forget Steve Winwood. He hit the Top 10 twice in 1967 while fronting the Spencer Davis Group, was a no-show in the Top 40 in the '70's, then came roaring back as a very successful solo artist in the '80's. (Yeah, his band Traffic was successful in the '70's, but they never had a Top 40 hit in the US.)

The Monkees skipped the 70's - plenty of 60's hits plus "That Was Then, This Is Now" in the 80's.

The Four Seasons skipped the 80's - had plenty of hits in the 60's and 70's, plus the re-release/remix of "December 1963 (Oh What A Night)" in 1994.

The Rovers hit in 1968 with "The Unicorn", then skipped the 1970's, and returned to the top 40 in 1981 with "Wasn't That a Party".
