Exactly. As Kerri says, there are no words to describe how it felt to see her dad go through this. It is truly inhumane.

Probably the most noteworthy segment offered an all-too-brief video from the Norway cemetery showing Casey's casket in a horse-drawn carriage and then, just before burial. What was missing... *It would've been nice to have, at the very least, a voicetrack from Mike with his thoughts. *And 3 questions that should've been asked of Jean: 1. While keeping the kids at bay over an apparent money issue, why wasn't Casey's brother given access to Casey during his time in her care? 2. Was an autopsy authorized, and what were the results? 3. Why is there still no headstone on Casey's grave? Overall, the 48 Hours program offered a balanced and well-presented timeline of a sad ending to Casey's life.

I found myself infuriated when I watched this early this morning. First, I have a crazy Aunt who Jean reminded me a lot of watching this. Second, I saw nothing that in any way makes her not guilty. She’s still the one against doctors advice that took him from the ALF in Santa Monica. She’s still the one that did so with no precautions for his care. That friend said he wasn’t in my pain while staying with her in Washington. Ok, fine. You can give someone enough medication to make them comfortable. That doesn’t mean his condition didn’t worsen as a result of not being under constant medical supervision. I do not think that lady lied. I think with her medical knowledge she did what she could do and he seemed ok.
Further, I do not think anyone intentionally killed him or did things to purposely make things worse. People do stupid things in general and they really do under a lot of stress. Jean moving him IMO is what ultimately killed him. His kids wanted him in a medical facility where he could receive the treatement he needed. She wanted whatever it was she wanted. Apparently to keep them from seeing him scared they’d do something which caused her to react the way that she did including throwing meat at Kerri.

Dr. Donald Sharman, the former of the doctors sought for depositions, said in "sworn testimony" quoted in this Radar-exclusive article that Casey shouldn't have needed to be evaluated other than at the home where he and Jean were at that time, appearing to shoot holes in the family's argument. Radar seems to be dwelling on Kerri's participation in Scientology, claiming that Jean argued the kids wanted to give Casey's estate to the church; CBS made no mention of that. dL

Watched the "48 Hours" show on Casey over the weekend-Jean is clearly the villainess-I truly hope she'll be incarcerated.

An interesting tidbit I noticed, Casey was shown signing his Power of attorney forms which were dated and signed Sunday November 11, 2007. This was only a few days after Mike would have recorded his first guest host shows that would then air the weekend of November 17/18. Perhaps this was when the first true sighs of the illness were starting to show. Or, he had to take a week off for that hair transplant

Or, he had to take a week off for that hair transplant There was a video I think you posted of him in Detroit at some Casey Kasem Appreciation Day and he looked stiff and lost in a lot of what he said. Clearly we know now it was this disease he had. But to think with all the $$$ he had once that diagnosis came in 2007 he didn’t just quit. He fought the disease as long as he could. Commendable.

Agreed - if his cognitive decline and physical limitations began to surface in late 2007, the fact that he stayed on the air until July 2009 is a pretty remarkable feat. I remember at the time, it was sort of an open secret around here that Casey's voice was not sounding all that well toward the end. But to know now he was in the midst of Lewy Body Dementia and was still able to do two shows each week is pretty remarkable. I'm sure those shows were not easy for Casey or for the crew, so kudos to everyone for still giving us another year and a half of weekend entertainment.
Also, for the record, when I met Casey in April 2008, he was definitely much, much slower physically than I was expecting when comparing the most recent TV appearances I had seen from earlier in the 2000s. During our conversation, as well as during his afternoon presentation during Casey Kasem Day, he was spot on though when it came to interacting and speaking. But I did leave the event feeling Casey appeared significantly 'older' than I thought he would.

I asked Guy Aoki on FB back shortly after he died and he said he had heard the last show he did took like 12 hours to finish because he was having trouble knowing what to do.

To at-least-speculate as to Pete's questions: What was missing... 1. Jean likely very quickly figured that Mouner was allied with the children, and decided against dealing with him separately. ( Edit: He is a co-plaintiff with the children in the suit against her and Liberty.) 2. One of the two doctors from Washington state sought for deposition (see the NewsLA article I posted earlier), Dr. Eric Kiesel, performed an autopsy, and its results may be under seal pending the local investigation by Gig Harbor police. 3. Only Jean knows the answer to this. dL
