It's rime to enjoy another countdown from the 1960's. The top 2 singles never reached #1 on the Billboard charts. Here is the Top 40 from the Cash Box charts from the week ending August 6, 1966: archive.org/details/011966080601/01+1966080605.wmaI will be posting only countdowns from the 1960's, as I record them. Thanks, Joe

Here's another Cash Box Countdown from the 1960's: August 23, 1969. The countdown features two songs that first charted in 1967 but failed to make the Top 40 that year however they both make it this time around. archive.org/details/041969082312Happy Eclipse Day, Joe

This countdown is all killer, no filler! It also contains the first five 45s I ever bought. Even below the Top 40 was great. Pete Battestini and I were chatting about Shannon's "Abergavenny" and Bill Deal recently for example. Thanks, for this gem Joe.

Many thanks to everyone that listens--it makes all the time, money and effort that go into the shows worth it.
By the way, I am still working on charts from the 1960's (1964-1969)-- I do have about 15-20 more shows in the planning stages that I hope to begin working on soon; so keep your eyes on this spot.
Joe

I was with a group of 25 (mostly from churches in the Atlanta area) looking at sites related to the Protestant Reformation. We were in Switzerland, Germany, and the U.K. (England & Scotland). The weather was great (only rained two of 14 days) and I must admit the scenery was spectacular.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the trip (except for pay toilets).
By the way, our first hotel was actually in France (close to CERN).
Glad you enjoyed the show--another one is coming soon.

Always enjoy your countdowns Joe, especially 1969. It was the year I bought my first 45s. It was this time of year, because my first 5 were:
Hurt So Bad - Lettermen Crystal Blue Persuasion - Tommy James and the Shondells Baby, I Love You - Andy Kim I'd Wait A Million Years - Grassroots Baby, It's You - Smith
Without giving away the positions of the Top 40 you just released (except 2 unfortunately), I thought I'd have a little fun comparing the peak positions of the songs on Billboard and Cashbox.
bb = Billboard; cb = Cash Box

Joe, Just wanted to say Thanks for making your shows available through archiving. Haven't been on these boards too much recently. Was happy to get/listen to some of the shows you've made available in the past few months. You do an awesome job with these countdowns. The 8-23-69 show was terrific. You're awesome!! Thanks again.
