Enjoying the May 25, 1968 show, djjoe1960. Just want to point out that the 1965 Zombies single "Whenever You're Ready" had the original version of "I Love You" as its "B" side.
The 45 bubbled under in the US, peaking at #110 during a 4 week run.

As most of us know it was 50 years ago that the Beatles released the landmark album--Sgt. Pepper's. Although no singles were released from the album you may be wondering what the Top 40 pop singles were at the time.Well, here is the Top 40 for the week ending June 3, 1967 (according to Cash Box Magazine): archive.org/details/011967060301

As some of you may be aware, Cash Box Countdown is still running on the WBME stream but just not in a regular time slot, so I am posting a link to the show that would have run this week from 6-19-1965 : archive.org/details/1965061901Enjoy. 'DJ' Joe Cantello

On the 4th of July, SiriusXM (and a few other stations) played the first AT40 show--which as most of us know featured the Billboard chart for the week ending July 11th.
Well at 3:30 this afternoon (Eastern time) on WBME you can hear the 40 biggest hits from the same week from the Cash Box chart.
The countdown is my salute to Casey & Company--as all the bonus songs featured on the countdown are the same ones featured on that first AT40 show.
R.I.P. Casey
Thanks for listening,
Joe

Hey, djjoe1960 - will that 1970 show be available on archive eventually? I'm rarely off on weekends and not in a position to catch the shows. BTW, have enjoyed your CBC shows - got all the ones you've posted on archive/demand. Thanks for all you do!

Hey OnWithTheCountdown ,
Many thanks to you and everyone else that listens to the shows. I have done about 70 of them so far; however, most of the countdowns from the 1970's & '80's were done to help fulfill an agreement to have them run on WBME on a weekly basis--and since that is no longer happening I do not plan to continue to do any more from those two decades.
As a Beatles fan, I do plan to do several more countdowns from the 1960's, so we can all enjoy the music of that decade and see how the Beatles music compares to the other songs of that era. That being said, the only shows that I plan to post (on the archive.org website) going forward are shows from the 1960's.
Once again, Thank you to all of you who listen,
Joe

Thanks for the reply. Glad the 1960s will still be available, since it pre-dates AT40. At least for me, that'd be the decade I'm most interested in when it comes to the CBC. (Though I'm sure I'm not alone in that regard.)
Thanks again!

It's a good decision Joe to focus on the 60s ( 64 to 69 is the best period for me ) although i agree with OnWithTheCountdown that is great to have some pre AT 40 from 1970 in stereo.
If you allow me to,may i suggest that instead of playing big hits from the past decades as bonus tracks , it would be more interesting to offer us some bubbling under songs from the Top 100 of the same week.

If you want to hear a countdown from August 1966--be sure to tune into WBME Wednesday between 9 and 10 pm (Eastern time) for the Cash Box Countdown for the week ending August 6, 1966.

I like that he does 60's shows from the Cashbox Charts. Since I use Billboard for mine. Up through 7-4-70. Then I flip to Cashbox...
