I listen to the shows from the week we are currently in. Just finished 3-18-67 and was happy to hear the Turtles, since we can't on Sirius 60's on 6.

Joe, you know I love to listen to the countdown for the week we are in. Just finished listening to 3-21-64, and one correction--The Isley Brothers "Twist And Shout" was 1962 not 1960.

Wow Joe, I have been so busy with countdowns from 3-21-64 to 3-30-68. You had the following years that I listened to: 1964, 1966, 1965 and now 1968. Thanks so much!
Jeff

Enjoying the countdown from 4-26-69. Big difference in chart performance for "Bad, Bad Old Days" by the Foundations. Peaked at 26 on CB, but only 51 on BB. And yes, I never heard that song before--also new to my ears: "The Way It Used To Be" Englebert Humperdinck, "Wishful Sinner" the Doors, and "Is It Something You've Got" Tyrone Davis

Enjoyed 4-27-68. I listen to the countdown within a week of the survey date that Joe provided. Interesting twist of the #1 BB and CB surveys. Valleri hit #1 on CB and #3 on BB. Dock of the Bay reversed #1 on BB #3 on CB.

Dock of the Bay reversed #1 on BB #3 on CB. Jeff, Even more surprising that Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding was #1 in Billboard for 4 weeks and only reached #2 in Record World & #3 in Cash Box. The other song you mention--Valleri by the Monkees was number one for 2 weeks in both Cash Box & Record World--making it to #3 in Billboard. The probable differences is that Billboard factored in radio airplay during the 1960's, while Cash Box & Record World did not.

How does the song go? "You say it best when you say nothing at all"? ☺

I thought the old expression cat got your tongue applied here--OR-- It reminds me of the story Casey told about a record that was released that was nothing but silence.

For a few years in the 80s I was tasked with going to the PO every day to pick up the mail for the radio station. R&R Day was always something to look forward to.

Sitting outside on a sunny June Sunday, working from home and listening to the August 1967 show. Pleasant Valley Sunday was really "on the nose". The song reminds me of John Cheever's The Swimmer. It's nice listening to countdowns from different times of the year, but it also can be amazing listening to same-time-of-year shows.

Songs That Joe Likes
I started a thread on the Casey forum a few years ago called Songs That Casey Liked (based on what Casey said on the shows).
With Joe it is tougher because we need to go by his inflection. I may be wrong about any or all of these but I'm going to throw these titles out there as a few examples:
HIM OR ME - WHAT'S IT GONNA BE TESTIFY COLD SWEAT
Joe?

I listen to all his countdowns during the week the songs were out--this week I will listen to 6-28-69, and I will sure pay attention to inflections! Great thread and for all that Joe does for Cash Box and Rewind Countdowns, I hope to contribute.

Songs That Joe Likes I started a thread on the Casey forum a few years ago called Songs That Casey Liked (based on what Casey said on the shows). With Joe it is tougher because we need to go by his inflection. I may be wrong about any or all of these but I'm going to throw these titles out there as a few examples: HIM OR ME - WHAT'S IT GONNA BE TESTIFY COLD SWEAT Joe? Let's see-- Him Or Me--Yes The other two not really (however, sometimes I try to match the excitement of the song and make the introduction more exciting, as well). I am a Beatles fan so it's a good bet that I liked most all of their songs and after that it's more of individual songs by artists. I would agree that Pleasant valley Sunday by the Monkees is a good upbeat song. The majority of 1960's Top 10 hits I already knew but it was the lower charting hits (#20's-40's) that really lead me to do the countdowns so I could learn those songs, and possibly introduce those to others, as well. Probably the lowest charting hits I didn't know but came to enjoy were/are -- But It's Alright by J.J. Jackson & Lies by the Knickerbockers (just to mention a few off the top of my head). It might be interesting to hear from others, some of their favorite lower charting hits, from the '60's.
