Hello It's Me by Nazz is my absolute favorite that never hit the Top 40 nationally. I lived in New Jersey at the time the song was out in late 1969/early 1970, and it was very big on WFIL 56 AM.
"Tell Him" by Patti Drew is another song that I loved back in the 60's that charted lower. Mixed Up Shook Up Girl (Patty and the Emblems) is yet another one.
Last one is "Girl, Why You Wanna Make Me Blue" by the Temptations.

Joe, here is another one that for the life of me I just can't understand--"Ride My Seesaw" by the Moody Blues.

Wow for me there are so many, party because I listened mostly to WABC during these years, and WABC had a very limited playlist, so these all might not be lower-charting, and I might have just forgotten about some of them through the years. I'll limit mine to the songs Joe introduced (or reintroduced) me to, or the list would be way too long. I'll start with a few from '64. WHO DO YOU LOVE –•– The Sapphires I’M SO PROUD –•– The Impressions THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU –•– Rick Nelson DON’T THROW YOUR LOVE AWAY –•– The Searchers I WANNA LOVE HIM SO BAD –•– The Jelly Beans LAZY ELSIE MOLLY –•– Chubby Checker MIXED-UP, SHOOK-UP, GIRL –•– Patty and the Emblems YOU MUST BELIEVE ME –•– The Impressions I DON’T WANT TO SEE TOMORROW –•– Nat King Cole NO ARMS CAN EVER HOLD YOU –•– The Bachelors Oh jeez I accidentally "liked" my own post. How can that be deleted?

Be proud of what you wrote, and you should "like" it--hope you don't mind other members adding to your year and others if you elect. Two more for me "Do I Love You" by the Ronettes, and Pink Panther Theme by Henry Mancini.

One of the earliest 'demo' versions of Cash Box Countdown was a show based on the Top 40 pop singles from the week ending July 3, 1976; recorded during 2016 (40 years after these songs were hits). Since AT40 had a special on the July 4th week end (#1 hits from the previous 40 July 4ths) , the Top 40 from that week was never heard. This show is an attempt to present those songs (from Cash Box) and by the way, 4 songs in the countdown are based on TV themes. Happy Independence Day-- Joe archive.org/details/1976070301

And isn't it strange that Peter Frampton didn't appear? Was that like the one week between the spring and end of year he wasn't in the Top 40?

Chris, Peter Frampton was at #52 on the chart with Baby I Love Your Way, two weeks away from making the Top 40 with the second hit from Frampton Comes Alive. Joe

1965 Part 1
Again these are lower-charting hits that Joe's shows either introduced me to, or reminded me of after having forgotten them. I think songs like these are my favorite moments of the shows.
And what a great year - the first of my four favorite years in a row. I could never limit a list for all of 1965 to only ten songs!
NO ARMS CAN EVER HOLD YOU –•– The Bachelors TWINE TIME –•– Alvin Cash and the Crawlers BREAK AWAY (From That Boy) –•– The Newbeats WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE RAIN –•– The Searchers DON’T MESS UP A GOOD THING –•– Fontella Bass and Bobby McClure ONE KISS FOR OLD TIMES’ SAKE –•– Ronnie Dove WOMAN’S GOT SOUL –•– The Impressions L-O-N-E-L-Y –•– Bobby Vinton TOO MANY RIVERS –•– Brenda Lee A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN –•– Ronnie Dove

I Do by the Marvelows Land of 1000 Dancers Cannibal and the Headhunters Happy Man Jive 5 (this was big in New York WABC) And I remember WABC playing the heck out of Cannibal and the Headhunters. I don't think I ever heard Wilson Pickett's version for many years. I have always liked Cannibal's version much more. You know, I hardly remember WABC ever playing anything by Wilson Pickett, though the charts on the Musicradio site says they did. Somehow, Happy Man slipped through the cracks of my memory, or maybe I just wasn't listening when they played it. But how could that be?

I'm A Happy Man (sorry shortened title in original post) peaked at #2 on 7-27-65. As you might remember, #2 was played half past the hour every two hours as well as alternate hours #3 was played. Of course #1 was played every hour at least on Dan Ingram's afternoon show! Thanks for the memories. My Mom would listen to Art Linkletter's House Party on TV, and I went right to my room to listen to WABC. On Tuesdays, Dan Ingram would reveal the new survey that Cousin Brucie would premiere that evening.
Wilson Pickett's most famous songs on WABC were Mustang Sally and Funky Broadway.

Yep, I remember seeing I'm A Happy Man up there on the charts on the Musicradio site and I went and listened to it and didn't remember it! I must have been a WMCA listener that summer. But then I'm sure they probably played it just as often soooo?

I will check WMCA to see how high the song charted there--Joe, hope christic and I aren't going too off track from the thread. I guess I might need Chart Addiction Anonymous, as I could go on and on about charts!

"I'm A Happy Man" also made it to #2 on WMCA in July 1965. Love comparing charts. Again apologies to Joe for digressing from the Cashbox thread.

I'm A Happy Man by the Jive Five spent only two weeks in the Cash Box Top 40 (September 11 & 18, 1965). Ii you like I have a countdown from the week ending September 11, 1965 that I recorded that I never posted but will be glad to add to the list so others can hear this song you are talking about. Joe
