5/5/79 and 5/5/84 - page 8
5/3/75 has the band Northern Light debut with "Minnesota." It peaked at #88, but since dth1971 mentioned this song in a previous post, I'll move on to the next song. This is the UK comedy trio known as The Goodies. Their song "The Funky Gibbon" debuted at #99 and peaked at #79.

5/12/73 begins with a debut at the bottom. It's The Crusaders and "Don't Let It Get You Down," which would peak at #86.
5/7/77 starts with Current's version of the theme from Rocky, which fell back two spots. Since that song is already mentioned on page 16, we move on to #99. There, we have Wings and their top ten live version of "Maybe I'm Amazed," which tumbled from #40. Now, here's Grace Jones and "I Need A Man," which debuted at #98 and peaked at #83.

5/29/71 begins with a debut at #100 by the band Sounds Of Sunshine with "Love Means (You Never Have To Say You're Sorry)". Since that song just squeaked into the top 40 (#39), we move on to #99. There, it's another debut by a country rock band named Cochise and a remake of the Buddy Holly song made famous by The Bobby Fuller Four "Love's Made A Fool Of You." It peaked at #96.

6/2/79 starts with the Bee Gees' former chart-topper "Tragedy" which held at #100. Following that was "Music Box Dancer" by Frank Mills falling from #69 to #99. Now, here's a studio group called Witch Queen with their disco-fied take on "Bang A Gong." It fell from its #68 peak to #98. Here's the 4:18 single version of the nearly 10-minute song.

Cochise's cover is great. Peaked at #10 in Chicago on WLS in May 1971. I must have about a half dozen copies of the 45. The United Artists release comes a great Union Jack type label.

Lou Simon played the Bobby Fuller Four version on The Jukebox Diner a couple of weeks ago when I was in the studio with him. To me, they sounded almost exactly like Buddy and the Crickets.
