Today's song comes from 2007 and a Brazilian rock band whose name is short for Cansei de Ser Sexy (Portuguese for "tired of being sexy"). This week, they were at their peak position of #63 on the Hot 100 with a song that was featured in a 2007 iPod commercial. Here's CSS with "Music Is My Hot Hot Sex".

From last year, it's a song by a British rock band that came from their album "Everyday Life". It peaked at #106 on Billboard's Bubbling Under chart last November, and at #1 on the Alternative chart in December. Here's "Orphans" by Coldplay. Included are three videos - the official video, the official lyric video, and the Kaz James remix.

Today's song was originally a #1 hit for Ruby and the Romantics in 1963. It appeared on the album "Lioness: Hidden Treasures", which was released in the U.S. on today's date in 2011, and was recorded by a British singer who died earlier that year. Here's "Our Day Will Come" by Amy Winehouse.

Today's song was originally a #3 hit for the Spinners in 1972. In 2004, this version was at #10 this week on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart, and would peak at #6 the following January. The song also peaked at #97 on the Hot 100 in February, and is so far the only Hot 100 entry for this duo since 1991. Here's "I'll Be Around" by Hall and Oates.

I found that song on iTunes late in 2004 and downloaded it. I actually like it a little better than the Spinners' original. *runs and ducks for cover*
Great selection!

Thanks, although I will admit I prefer the Spinners' version over Hall and Oates'.

Today's song comes from the 2009 album "Christmas in the Heart", released by an artist who was Jewish (although he converted to Christianity in the 1970s). Written by William Fredericks and Hal Moore, and originally released by Mitch Miller in 1960, here's "Must Be Santa" by Bob Dylan.

I'd heard the song on the radio maybe 3 years ago and decided to look for it. It's hilarious.

For the final song I'm posting in this thread this year, there's a little backstory. When this year started, I had two songs I was considering posting from around New Year's 2007. One of those songs was Madonna's "Jump", which I thought was an upbeat song to start the year and decade off right. But this year things didn't turn out that way, so for the end of the year I'm going to post the other song I considered, which is much more appropriate for how this year ended up. From today's date in 2006, it's a song that was at #15 on Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart after peaking at #2 the previous month. It also peaked at #102 on the Bubbling Under chart in October. Here's "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" by Scissor Sisters.
