My Top 24 songs from the 6/30/79 countdown: Top 10: Hot Stuff, We Are Family, The Logical Song, Boogie Wonderland #11-20: Love You Inside Out, I Want You To Want Me, Minute By Minute, Shine A Little Love, Gold, Reunited, Dance The Night Away, When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman, Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now #21-30: Heart Of The Night, You Can't Change That, Does Your Mother Know, Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy*, Mama Can't By You Love #31-40: Shakedown Cruise, People Of The Southwind, Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground), One Way Or Another, Getting Closer, Renegade * Bad Company gets my pick hit this week as well as a nomination for the "Four Hundred Children & A Crop In The Field" thread mention. For the first few weeks I heard this song, I thought lead singer Paul Rodgers was singing, "Here come The Jetsons, one two three...". Then I realized they probably weren't singing about the cartoon so then I would sing, "Here come the jet sets, one two three..." I just looked up the lyrics... and now I know what Paul was singing! All this in a tidy rock ditty of 3 minutes and 17 seconds:

My current language calendar for 2019 has an English idiom for every week. This week the idiom is "The cream of the crop" ... Wow ... How does this language calendar know that my birthday is this week (more precisely: today) ? So, here´s my birthday playlist for this year: 6/29/85:(news, weather, traffic and signation) Bryan Adams - Summer of ´69 (#55) The Beach Boys - Getcha Back (favorit) Harold Faltermeyer - Axel F. (favorit) Tears For Fears - Shout (highest debut) Air Supply - Just As I Am (#28 due to 6/28) (commercial break and intro) Sting - If You Love Somebody Set Them Free (biggest mover) Survivor - The Search Is Over (#6 due to 6/28) Intercity Sound Association - City Train (instrumental background for weather- and traffic-update) Aretha Franklin - Freeway Of Love (#43) Kim Carnes - Crazy In The Night (Barking At Airplanes) (favorit) DeBarge - Who´s Holding Donna Now (favorit) John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band - Tough All Over (favorit) Duran Duran - A View To A Kill (#3) (commercial break and intro) Phil Collins - Sussudio (#2) Bryan Adams - Heaven (#1) Blonker - Sidewalk Cafe (bumper music) This week I also have a "70s"-edition: 6/30/79 (A):Abba - Does Your Mother Know Dr. Hook - When You´re In Love With A Beautiful Woman Earth, Wind & Fire - Boogie Wonderland Electric Light Orchestra - Shine A Little Love
Sister Sledge - We Are Family 6/29/74 (B):Abba - Waterloo Gordon Lightfood - Sundown Marvin Hamlisch - The Entertainer Paul McCartney & Wings - Band On The Run
The Hues Corporation - Rock The Boat A day of celebration, so, time for a danceable " celebration"-edition: 6/29/85:Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Around (Like A Record) Depeche Mode - People Are People Katrina & The Waves - Walking On Sunshine Kool & The Gang - Fresh Madonna - Angel Mary Jane Girls - In My House Prince - Raspberry Beret Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World The Power Station - Get It On (Bang A Gong) "A friend in need is a friend indeed.", so here´s my special " best friends"-edition: 6/29/85:Howard Jones - Things Can Only Get Better Paul Hardcastle - 19 Paul Young - Everytime You Go Away ´Til Tuesday - Voices Carry Whitney Houston - You Give Good Love An Austrian extra: No BrosIn 1974 guitarist Klaus Schubert and bassist Michael Ausserhofer found the band "Target" in Innsbruck (Tyrol). Under this band name and with different line-up´s they have their first appearances in Tyrol. Since however an American band already distributes their albums under the same name in Europe, the renaming takes place in " No Bros". No Bros play concert after concert, the fan base grow and the first gigs outside Tyrol follow. The band becomes an insider tip. In 1980 No Bros are invited to the "Austro Rock Festival" organized by the band Opus in Pinkafeld (Burgenland). For the first time the already ailing audience celebrates a "Heavy Metal Party" in Austria. The music as well as the bombastic stage show do not leave Rockfan and Ö3 presenter Gotthard Rieger cold. He introduces himself to the band and offers his support as a manager. For budget reasons, manager Gotthard Rieger organizes a concert in St. Pölten (Lower Austria) that is recorded. A first album called "Heavy Metal Party" and a first single called "Good Morning, Sir" are released. In 1982 Gotthard Rieger sends the band to the "Dieter Dirks Studio" in Cologne, at that time the most renowned studio in Europe. With a budget of incredible 2 million Austrian Schillings (€ 145,300) the second album "Ready For The Action" is recorded. The ballad "Be My Friend" causes a lot of discord. Some say "We´re a rock band - don´t get on the album". Others, including Manager Rieger, vote for the song. Finally, the song comes on the album and becomes a mega hit single for No Bros. The success is enormous and the doors to Europe´s biggest rock stages are wide open. No Bros tour through Austria, Hungary, Italy, Germany and the former Yugoslavia with bands like Motörhead, Saxon, Girlschool, Uriah Heep, Ten Years After, Krokus ... - with the crème de la crème of the European rock scene. Now, here is this beautiful ballad, which reminds me again and again of "My Oh My" by Slade: No Bros with "Be My Friend" (song starts at 0:30):

^^ Page 87 marks the 6th time in the last 10 pages that trekkielo has led off the page with his listing. I'm suspicious... We might need to do a little AT40 investigation into this one... Look for your subpoena to arrive soon . My Top 25 songs from the 7/10/76 countdown (song titles only, absolute faves in bold):Top 10: Afternoon Delight, Kiss & Say Goodbye, I'll Be Good To You, Shop Around, More More More, Silly Love Songs, Love Is Alive, Sara Smile, Got To Get You Into My Life#11-20: Never Gonna Fall In Love Again, Moonlight Feels Right, Take The Money & Run, The Boys Are Back In Town*, Get Closer, Get Up & Boogie, You're My Best Friend #21-30: Love Hangover, Turn The Beat Around, I'm Easy, Young Hearts Run Free#31-40: Mamma Mia, A Fifth Of Beethoven, You'll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine), Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel, I'd Really Love To See You Tonight* Thin Lizzy gets my Shooda Dun Betr Pick this week. The way this song is played on radio today, it should have spent 12 weeks at #1 rather than peak at #12. This is one rockin' yet incredibly catchy tune: My Top 25 songs from the 7/4/87 countdown:Top 10: I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me), Alone, Shakedown, Head To Toe, In Too Deep, Don't Disturb This Groove, Just To See Her, The Point Of No Return, Funkytown#11-20: Something So Strong, Diamonds, Lessons In Love*, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Wanted Dead Or Alive, Rhythm Is Gonna Get You #21-30: I Want Your Sex, Endless Nights, The Pleasure Principle, Cross My Broken Heart, You Keep Me Hangin' On #31-40: Moonlighting, Only In My Dreams, The Lady In Red, Back In The High Life, Luka* Alan Hunter played "Lessons In Love" on Sirius/XM radio on my way home from work today... pick hit picked just like that! Interesting that both of my pick hits this week peaked at #12 while both of my picks last week peaked at #13. Anyway, while trekkielo starts an AT40 investigation into my pick hit selections , here's a pure pop gem from the summer of '87:

An Austrian extra: Two In One
Two In One consisted of the Viennese singer and full-time Art-Directrice in Andrea Weidler´s model agency Petra Suk ("Suki") and the Nigerian DJ and rapper George Alaba, the father of the later professional soccer player David Alaba. Both met in 1997 at the African Club in Vienna, where Alaba worked as a DJ. A legal dispute about the band name with a German record company led to the end of the duo. Petra "Suki" Suk completed after her singing career a training as a moderator and advertising speaker and is active since then as a professional speaker. In 2005 she produced seven platinum awards made of stainless steel for the music group Rammstein for the record company Universal Music. Alaba returned to his job as a DJ, which he later gave up to support his son David´s sports career and his daughter Rose May Alaba´s singing career.
In 1997 Two In One had a first big summer hit with "Wave Your Hands In The Air":
Their most successful single was "Indian Song" (1999 #2 in the Austrian Charts) which was released on many samplers:

Look for your subpoena to arrive soon . [...] Speaking of trekkielo . I think trekkielo once mentioned that he can hear KOLA 99.9. Well, this week Robbie Nevil is at #32 with "Wot´s It To Ya" and if my calculations are correct then you should hear this song at about 5.45 a.m. local time. So if trekkielo heard this song at this time of day, what could he answer ? Maybe "I´m Alive".
Oh, I´m so sorry - right title, but wrong band : Here´s ELO with "I´m Alive": And something else: "Private Investigations" immediately reminds me of Dire Straits and as an encore of this album here´s "Your Latest Trick":
