2-21-76 #29- Convoy- C.W. McCall... This along with #24- The White Knight- Cledus Maggart... were two songs that were on a cassette I later owned in the 80's called "Truck Drivin' Music". It's neat to see that these were both on AT40 at one time. Convoy was obviously a huge hit, White Knight, not so much. Convoy did introduce me to C.W.McCall and I owned a few of his cassettes as well. He actually put out some good songs... Along the lines of a Tom T. Hall... Junk Food Junkie- Larry Groce... Even today, this is a funny song... Dream Weaver- Gary Wright... Bought the 45, I believe "Love is Alive" was the "B" side.... I remember my mom singing "Love is Alive" #16- Squeeze Box- The Who and #4- Love to Love You Baby... Both of course being full of adult content... I was 11 when this show aired... It was years later before I fully understood these songs... :-) Grow Some Funk of Your Own- Elton John Lonely Night (Angel Face)- Captain and Tenille December 1963- Four Seasons Love Hurts- Nazareth All By Myself- Eric Carmen I Write the Songs- Barry Manilow Theme from S.W.A.T- Rhythm Heritage

Rodney, "Love is Alive" was not the B side to "Dream Weaver". It was the next A side that he released. So your mom was singing it a little later in 1976 when it was a hit.
And here my faves from the 1981 show as I hear it now. Caps are songs that I really like....
Don't Stand so Close to me BACK IN BLACK Ghost Riders in the Sky Guilty Love on the Rocks AH! LEAH! Living in a Fantasy It's My Turn Kiss on my List What Kind of Fool GAMES PEOPLE PLAY TREAT ME RIGHT Heartbreak Hotel Miss Sun Rapture Together I Aint Gonna Stand for it Even the president needs PASSION! Hey Nineteen Starting Over Keep on Loving You THE BEST OF TIMES Celebration I Love a Rainy Night SAME AULD LANG SYNE Giving IT Up for Your Love (great story about Delbert giving a harmonica lesson to John Lennon) 9 to 5
One more cap for an optional extra....FANTASTIC VOYAGE

I'm embarrassed to admit I like it. "Material Girl" debuted on the charts the week of 2/16/85 at #34 while "Like A Virgin" was still in the Top 20. Frankly I've always preferred the version on "The Immaculate Collection" but that's just me.

This may be a record high for me for number of favorites in a show...
My Top 32 songs from the 2/23/85 countdown: Top 10: Careless Whisper, Loverboy, Easy Lover, I Want To Know What Love Is, Neutron Dance, The Heat Is On, California Girls, Method Of Modern Love, Sugar Walls #11-20: The Old Man Down The Road, Mr. Telephone Man, Misled, Solid, The Boys Of Summer, Lover Girl, Too Late For Goodbyes, You're The Inspiration, Jungle Love #21-30: Relax, Material Girl, Rockin' At Midnight, Naughty Naughty, Like A Virgin, High On You #31-40: Keeping The Faith, I Would Die For You, Just Another Night, One More Night, Somebody, Ooh Ooh Song, Tenderness, Turn Up The Radio
My Top 23 songs from the 2/21/76 countdown: Top 10: 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, Theme From SWAT, You Sexy Thing, Love Machine, I Write The Songs, All By Myself, Take It To The Limit, Evil Woman #11-20: Love Hurts, Wake Up Everybody, Grow Some Funk Of Your Own, Dream Weaver, Fanny (Be Tender With My Love) #21-30: Golden Years, Sing A Song, Slow Ride, Convoy, Dream On #31-40: Bohemian Rhapsody, Love Rollercoaster, Only Sixteen, Sweet Love, Love Is The Drug NOTE: December 1963 (Oh What A Night) used to be a favorite of mine but falls in the overplayed category.
I graduated from high school in 1985 and have many great memories from that time. That may be a reason why I love winter, spring and summer 1985 shows so much. I wonder if other listeners see a spike in the number of favorite tunes from their senior year of high school.

God I wish I had been old enough to really experience the Eighties. I was born 10 years too late lol. The only thing I can really remember from 85 is hearing "We Are The World" for the first time. I graduated in 1999 and of course that Spring/Summer all you heard on radio was Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Or it seemed like it.

80sat40fan and rodney, you have both listed a song that won't be played on the show even though it is listed on Walt Bailey's site. He got it wrong when he listed the #15 song as "Grow Some Funk of Your Own". While it IS #15, they played the flip side "I Feel Like a Bullet". BTW, Walt did get it right on the 2/7/76 show when IFLAB was also played. AT40 actually alternated between the 2 sides during its chart run. And with the 2/7 show guest hosted and the single in the top 40 for only 5 weeks, that makes this show the only time Casey announces IFLAB. I prefer Grow Some Funk myself.
