[...] Aretha Franklin and Seals & Crofts are This Week's Pick Hits. Normally, I go into the reasons why I love my pick hits so much but I'm picking the tunes I have heard most recently on the radio from each countdown. I love me the full version of "Freeway Of Love", and "Diamond Girl" is a song I will never tire of. Both songs are pop perfection! Here´s Aretha with an Extended 80s Multitrack Version (BodyAlive Remix) of "Freeway Of Love":

9/13/86:Belinda Carlisle - Mad About You Berlin - Take My Breath AwayNu Shooz - Point Of No Return The Beatles - Twist And Shout The Monkees - That Was Then, This Is Now City Hill Climb 2023 For the third time, the City Hill Climb will take place on the Hohensalzburg Fortress on 9/9/2023. For one day a year, the cyclists will have the steep climb from Kapitelplatz up to Hohensalzburg Fortress to themselves. Exciting knockout duels await the strongest participants on the 900 meter long and with up to 33 percent steep course. Allowed are road racing bikes, gravel bikes and cyclocross racing bikes (only with curved racing handlebars) and for the category "Everyman" also mountain bikes. In all categories (Everyman, Elite Men, Elite Women and Young Riders) a maximum of twelve athletes will start per race. In each case 50% of the starters per run advance to the next round. In the final four to six riders will start, depending on the total number of participants. And here is my " sporty"-edition: 9/13/86:Bananarama - Venus Don Johnson - Heartbeat
Janet Jackson - When I Think Of You Simply Red - Money´s Too Tight To Mention
Tina Turner - Typical Male But maybe the following edition is what really drives cyclists: 9/13/86:David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose Glass Tiger - Don´t Forget Me (When I´m Gone) Lionel Richie - Dancing On The Ceiling Regina - Baby Love Stacey Q - Two Of Hearts Time for an extra: Owen Paul"My Favourite Waste Of Time" by Owen Paul is a love song about a person who is infatuated with their partner, despite knowing that the relationship may be perceived as meaningless and ridiculous. The lyrics suggest that this person is aware of the frivolity of the relationship, but their love for their partner is strong enough that they don't care about the potential judgment from others. The phrase "favourite waste of time" suggests that the person recognizes that their love for their partner may not lead to a long-lasting, serious relationship, but they enjoy spending time with them nonetheless. The idea of being a "daydreaming fool" further emphasizes their willingness to indulge in this relationship, even if it may not be productive or meaningful in the traditional sense. The line "I´m gonna give you my love tonight, and tomorrow night" suggests that the person is fully committed to this relationship, even if it may not have a clear or secure future. Despite any potential challenges that may arise, the person is willing to take the risk and invest their emotions in this person. Owen Paul on the genesis of the song: "On the night before the recording session I was too excited to sleep so, to distract myself, I watched an old VHS tape of a Bette Midler concert. She sang a bit of My Favourite Waste Of Time in a medley. I became obsessed with it, playing it over and over. The next day I found out it was written by Marshall Crenshaw and had never been released as a single. I changed all my plans, recorded it and, I´m not kidding you, everyone in the room knew it was going to be a smash. But, weirdly, I also felt it was going to be a career-damaging move for me."

But maybe the following edition is what really drives cyclists: 9/13/86:David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose Glass Tiger - Don´t Forget Me (When I´m Gone) Lionel Richie - Dancing On The Ceiling Regina - Baby Love Stacey Q - Two Of Hearts listenerwants2know ... You somehow picked my 4 least favorite tunes from the 9/13/86 show and placed them all in one playlist... UGH! I somehow didn't notice that "Two Of Hearts" was even on this week's show so I edited my previous post. I'm gonna think long and hard if I should "like" your post given this list. Maybe this list is what really drives cyclists off of a cliff...

This list is intended as an incentive in the event that you have to ride a bike uphill a 900-meter route with a difference in altitude of 120 meters and a maximum gradient of 32% in as short a time as possible. Which music you choose when riding downhill, which is not part of this competition, is of course up to everyone - maybe "Sweet Love" or "Throwing It All The Way" or ... if you really drive downhill ... "Point Of No Return" ... By the way: Stacey Q has continued to make music and tour her songs since the success of "Two of Hearts." The 1990s saw her independently release the dance-pop single, "Two Hot For Love," along with a greatest hits compilation album that featured modernized versions of her solo songs ( ) and her work with the band Q respectively SSQ. It was during that time that she traveled to Tibet where she experienced the ritualistic art of cham, a monastic dance performed by Buddhist monks and nuns. The practices there informed her 1997 album, "Boomerang". Since the 2000s, she has released a number of singles and in 2010, she dropped her 5th and latest solo album, "Color Me Cinnamon". SSQ regrouped in 2020 to release their first full-length album in nearly four decades, titled "Jet Town Je T´aime". According to an interview by "The Official Stacey Q Fan Club", Stacey has begun her first official singing project on Los Angeles radio, announcing programs and imitating members of the Go-Go´s. So I have to place "Rush Hour" by Jane Wiedlin - fitting to the Go Go´s and to the topic "driving" - right away:

^ OK, so listenerwants2know redeemed himself by featuring "Rush Hour" and the "Point Of No Return" joke . While I really like or love 33 songs from the 9/17/83 countdown, these 13 are my absolute faves:Maniac, Lawyers In Love, Promises Promises, King Of Pain, True, (Keep Feeling) Fascination, Dead Giveaway, China Girl, Kiss The Bride, One Thing Leads To Another, Big Log, Stand Back, It Must Be Love* While I really like or love 21 songs from the 9/20/75 countdown, these 10 are my absolute faves:Fight The Power, Could It Be Magic*, Ballroom Blitz, That's The Way Of The World, Get Down Tonight, Daisy Jane, Games People Play, It Only Takes A Minute, Bad Blood, Who Loves You
Madness and Barry Manilow receive This Week's Pick Hits designations. I absolutely love "It Must Be Love"... how did that song only peak at #33? Meanwhile, "Could It Be Magic" almost made the Top 5... close enough for me. Two totally different tunes but two phenomenal songs. I'm posting the original version of "It Must Be Love" as newer versions cut out some of the saxophone solo. Meanwhile, I'm going with the full version of "Could It Be Magic with bonus piano and plenty of "ahhh"ing from Barry's background singers towards the end:

Advertising for The Rolling Stones
Mick Jagger is known to be a passionate soccer fan. He will probably be all the more pleased that the iconic band logo will soon be seen in one of the world´s most important soccer duels. That´s because FC Barcelona is to promote the Rolling Stones in their upcoming match against Real Madrid. The Stones are the talk of the town right now, as Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ron Wood just announced their first album in nearly 20 years in a livestreaming event. To further ignite the euphoria for "Hackney Diamonds," the band came up with a very special place for advertising: the FC Barcelona jersey. The soccer club is one of the most recognizable brands in sports and is known to only advertise on jerseys for special occasions. Since the Swedish music streaming service Spotify became the main sponsor of FC Barcelona, other musicians have already found their way onto the sportswear. So in the league clash between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, the so-called "El Clasico," it´s the Rolling Stones´ turn. Perhaps Mick Jagger will also be on hand for the home game in the Catalan capital. The FC Barcelona vs. Real Madrid match will take place on 10/16. "Hackney Diamonds" will be released just a few days later on 10/20.
And here comes my "power"-edition
9/17/83:
Billy Joel - Tell Her About It Donna Summer - She Works Hard For The Money Frank Stallone - Far From Over Michael Sembello - Maniac Rick Springfield - Human Touch
Time for an extra: Endgames
In 1980 Endgames are founded by school friends David Rudden, Paul Wishart and David Murdoch in Glasgow. David Rudden is from the beginning not only the singer, but also the head and mastermind of the band. In 1982 the trio becomes a sextet, completed among others by drummer Brian McGee from Simple Minds. In 1983 the debut album "Building Beauty" is released, the first single is "Waiting For Another Chance":
