Billy Idol - Eyes Without A FaceChicago - Stay The Night
Sergio Mendes - Alibis The Cars - Magic Tony Carey - The First Day Of Summer Happy endingIt also exists in Corona times - the good news that can cheer you up. A rutting stag ran through the middle of the city of Salzburg on Thursday night. The fourteen-year-old weighing 150 kilograms may have got lost in search of a female. The deer´s journey began in Ostermiething in neighboring Upper Austria. From there, thanks to photos in social networks, the deer owner was able to follow where his deer was, says the owner´s brother Franz Schmidlechner: "He has practically traveled half a world trip behind him. He first migrated to Bavaria and then ended up in Eggelsberg (Upper Austria). Near Mattighofen he was almost hit by a car driver, the next stop was Bergheim (Flachgau) and finally he landed in the city of Salzburg." There he was drugged and captured again by the owner. Such a journey of a deer in the middle of the city is very unusual, says Schmidlechner: "In the rut he looks for a female, and he can smell her from many kilometers away. But it´s very unusual for him to get lost in the city." After the stunning, the deer was brought back home in a cattle truck. The police in the Salzburg district of Lehen also helped with the capture, says Schmidlechner: "The police kept watch so that we could even catch him, since he always wandered around," says Schmidlechner, who expressly thanked him for his support. Thirteen females are waiting for the deer in its home enclosure. I can´t say whether the following edition is suitable for catching a deer, but it´s at least a " happy"-edition: 10/23/82 (A):A Flock Of Seagulls - I Ran (So Far Away) Joe Jackson - Steppin´ Out Kool & The Gang - Big Fun Laura Branigan - Gloria The Stray Cats - Rock This Town 10/19/85 (B):ABC - Be Near Me David Foster - Love Theme From St. Elmo´s Fire Freddie Jackson - You Are My LadyOMD - So In Love Wham ! - Freedom 7/14/84 (guest-host: Charlie Van Dyke):Dan Hartman - I Can Dream About You Glenn Frey - Sexy Girl Robin Gibb - Boys Do Fall In Love Rod Stewart - Infatuation The Pointer Sisters - Jump (For My Love) An Austrian extra: Wolfgang AmbrosSeveral compilations under the title "50 Years of Austropop" are appearing these days. Wolfgang Ambros, who was born in Lower Austria and is often called "The Number 1 of the Vienna Woods", can be counted as one of the founders of Austropop. "Da Hofa" (Mr Hofer) is a song that made Wolfgang Ambros famous in 1971. The text for the song is written in the Viennese dialect by Joesi Prokopetz. The song polarized back then and is now considered to be trend-setting for the development of Austrian popular music. It´s about the finding of an unknown dead person and describes how the horror of the people soon turns into a wild lynch mood. The focus is on the sentence: "It was Mr Hofer, from the 20th house, he looks so suspicious to me." In the end, however, it turns out that "Da Hofa" is not the murderer, but rather the victim of the crime. The song is a deeply critical commentary on the alleged "golden Viennese heart" in the tradition of Ödön von Horvath´s play "Tales from the Vienna Woods". An English version of "Da Hofa" was published by the student Stuart Matthews as "Jones from No. 3". The song is mentioned in the novel "Rohstoff" by the writer Jörg Fauser, published in 1984, when the protagonist Harry Gelb, an unsuccessful writer and temporary night watchman, takes a trip to Vienna, visits a friend there and immerses himself in the coffee house environment around Cafe Hawelka. from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

He composed more than 1000 songs, released more than 50 musical albums and sold more than 105 million phonograms in his more than 60 years of career. He is thus one of the most successful male solo artists in the world. Since 2015 he has also kept the world record as the longest successful artist in the charts with over 57 years, from the first entry in 1958 to 2015. He is stylistically classified between hits, chanson, jazz and pop music and was the first Austrian to win the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson in 1966 (now the Eurovision Song Contest). In the early years he was mostly seen as a schlager singer, later he broke the limits of the schlager with his extensive compositional work. His song lyrics often address social issues such as the bourgeois bigotry in relation to wild marriage, the problem of guest workers, the environmental problem or the drug problem. In 1982 the song "5 minutes before 12" was released with the following lyrics:
"And I saw a forest, where you´re building an airfield now. I saw rain as poison, where he fell, there died the leaves. And I saw a fence, where there used to be only freedom. I saw grey concrete, where the meadow was recently located. And I saw a beach, which was completely black of oil and tar. And I saw a city, in which man no longer counted. But I also saw a valley, which was full of blooming trees, a deserted lake, like a mirror so bright and clear. And I looked at the clock: 5 minutes before 12" ... "I also saw the fear, which brings so many to insight. Someone said to me, that the future begins just now. And I looked at the clock: 5 minutes before 12."
On 12/21/2014, Udo Jürgens collapsed unconscious during a walk and died of heart failure at the age of 80 despite an attempt at revitalization. Two weeks earlier, he had finished the first part of his 25th Concerts tour under the motto "In the middle of life". Udo Jürgens was buried in an honorary tomb in the central cemetery of the city of Vienna. The tombstone, which represents a wing wrapped in a white mourning cloth, was designed by his brother Manfred. On the memorial board is one of his text passages: "You are the sheet of music that was all for me. I´ll leave everything to you – I´ll leave everything to you !"

Tape It
We are in the mid-80s. The Compact Discs are already known, but still very expensive – that´s why vinyl records are usually bought. And to be able to listen to these albums on the go with a "walkman", the albums are recorded on C-45 cassettes. And the three most recorded albums at that time were (at least in our school class) "Falco 3", "Brothers In Arms" and "Stop Making Sense". So, here´s an edition, for which the motto "Tape It" probably also applies:
11/8/86:
Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name Glass Tiger - Don´t Forget Me (When I´m Gone) Talking Heads - Wild Wild Life The Pretenders - Don´t Get Me Wrong Tina Turner - Typical Male
Fahrenheit
Toto are represented this week with "I´ll Be Over You" from their 6th album "Fahrenheit". Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (1686-1736) was born in Danzig and spent many years of his life in German countries, but was also a member of the Royal Society in London and in England highly regarded. Therefore, the temperature scale named after him is particularly common in Anglo-Saxon countries and is still common in the USA today. One advantage of the Fahrenheit scale is that even in cold winters, negative temperatures hardly ever occur. In most other countries, however, the Celsius scale has prevailed. But how do you calculate from degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit ? This works in three steps:
1. Multiply the Celsius number by 9. 2. Divide the result by 5. 3. Add 32 to the new result.
The word "Celsius" has a length of 7 letters, the word "Fahrenheit" has a length of 10 letters. With the three numbers 5, 9 and 32 this results in a "5-7-9-10-32"-edition. But whether a song from this (very special) edition is rather hot or rather cold, everyone must decide for himself.
11/8/86:
Cameo - Word Up (#9) Madonna - True Blue (#5) Oran "Juice" Jones - The Rain (#10) Stacey Q - Two Of Hearts (#32) The Human League - Human (#4)
An Austrian extra: Wilfried
Wilfried (Scheutz) came from Bad Goisern in the Inner Salzkammergut, Upper Austria. As a tavern kid, as he himself says. His mother ran the inn "Zum Gamsfeld", a popular meeting place for the musicians of the valley. His grandfather was a carpenter, also a musician with body and soul, but above all a great role model for the young Wilfried, with whom he had a close relationship. When he reached puberty, Wilfried´s artistic ambitions drew a huge arc in the direction of new models such as "Collosseum" or "Blood, Sweat and Tears". When he was 14 he founded his first band, the "Provos". The year was 1972, the ORF was still required to wear ties, long-haired people were considered drug addicts and "Austropop" was a matter for Viennese intellectuals. Then came this irrepressible alpine man, with a howling electric guitar he misled the songs of his ancestors and gave his audience a powerful kick with nailed shoes. "Ziwui, Ziwui" he shouted at the world with his legs apart and thus laid the foundations for making folk music socially acceptable. The concept worked. In 1973 he hit the Austrian charts with "Mary Oh Mary", a song that actually reproduces the songs of his homeland. In 1977 he began his acting career. A first musical followed: "May ower". Soon afterwards he joined the newly founded "Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung" as a singer and protagonist. The stage became more and more a true home: theater, film, TV and music over and over again. Tours followed, where he shone as the colorful bird of "Austropop" with both weird and poetic numbers. When the music industry and Austrian radio began to favor the mainstream exclusively, Wilfried once again demonstrated stubbornness. Without further ado he founded the a-capella quartet "4Xang" in order to avoid the spreading categorization and the general program suitability for local public media. "Wilfried & The New Band" was his last project, with which he broke new, very surprising musical paths. Wilfried died of cancer on 7/16/2017 at the age of 67.
From 1979 here´s Wilfried with "Nights In The City":
from my musical category "daydreamer" My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

^ Tom Johnston of The Doobie Brothers has aged pretty well. Hair color helps , but he's in good shape for being 72 years old. trekkielo ... I have to ask... other than your video picks being first on your list, how do you order the songs on your list? You don't go from #1 to #40 or vice versa, and I don't think you go by song peak. I'm curious how you list your favorites, or in what order do you place your songs within your list. You would think after doing these lists for 6 years that I would have figured this out by now .
Happy birthday, and happy first countdown of your life being featured this weekend!
